I don't buy into this "one last big contract for L Jones" stuff at 29 - that's the excuse that was used for Alfie May in the summer yet he is 2 years older at 31 (and Jones has only JUST turned 29 in October anyway)
Teams are buying younger players now, Jones at 29 would not have any sell price for a club who bought him
What I'm trying to say is I disagree with the premise that if he decided to sign say a 2 year extension that when that contract was then up at the age of 30-31 that he would suddenly be put out to pasture and have missed out on his "one last big contract" There's plenty of 30-34 year olds playing in the championship and higher it's just a ridiculous premise to me - I know we have had one or two duds over the age of 30 in our recent history which might skew the opinion a bit but IMO they are the exceptions rather than the rule.
  • Age! ?
    Pah !
Danny Hylton still has twenty good playing years left in him.
  • This might offend our Welsh contingent, apologies guys and gals, but I always thought Lloyd Jones might end up playing for Wrexham.
  • Lloyd’s dad is a Cardiff supporter so I would assume Lloyd also like Cardiff. If they were to come in for him, that’s a Championship move I think could happen. However, I think he’ll stay in this window and assess at the end of the season.

Losing LJ, our best player, would be a disaster.
Only less then 12 months same Charlton fans were saying Jones was never going to make it and should be sold on in the summer???

Article on FL World saying CBT might be on his way back?
they’re not a reliable source. They’ll have just picked up on idle chatter/speculation on Twitter

Please.…..if fans want him back then we might as well bring Lyle Taylor both players refused to play for the club to force a move away … CBT pretending to be injured is worse at least Taylor was honest about it ….. said before most overrated player ever to wear a Charlton shirt and now Derby are already looking to get rid says it all really
My New Year’s resolution last year was not to rise to your posts ! Proud to have made over 12 months and not going to break it now 😜

Only if currently 23rd-placed Cardiff stay in The Championship. There’s still a chance we could switch places next season exactly why I said earlier in the thread that Championship interest isn’t the pull as some may think. Unless any interested team is comfortably midtable and guaranteed to be playing at that level next season.

Agreed though about Jones staying and assess in the summer.

Pretty thin chance of Jones signing CBT, he doesn't have the workrate. When he was playing here, he had the lowest defensive stats of any winger in L1.
He's very un-Jones (for better and/or worse). His ability to pull something out of nothing potentially gives a cutting edge but he's not very disciplined and doesn't offer much off the ball.

Considering some of our recent players in recent years who've played for Wales like Levitt and Smith, I'm surprised Lloyd Jones has never been called up, seeing that he has a Welsh father.

Probably because he’s only really established himself as a top end L1 player this season.

And I believe this might well be the final straw for some of the faithful. Attendances during the cold winter months might well drop to a lower level than expected.

And that's ignoring what might be going on with Miles behind the scenes...

Time to make some serious decisions & maybe push the boat out for the owners/SMT.
I think for me it won’t be the final straw but it’ll tell me that the club is now firmly set at third tier level and will be for the foreseeable future. We sold or at least couldn’t hold on to a golden boot and now it seems we’re in a position that we can’t hold on to our best player, even perhaps to Wycombe Wanderers. We’re now not a big fish in league one football and we’re playing at our level as is confirmed by our results for season after season and our inability to keep anyone decent. Breaks my heart.
  • Won't happen, but I'd take CBT back in a heartbeat, didn't offer anything when not in possession but I don't care about that, he missed half the season last time around and was still our second top contributor to G/A behind May

    I wouldn’t
    Neither would I.

no way NJ would take a player who reportedly down tools to get a move
  • Dan Crowley started and played 70 odd minutes for Notts County in their early kick off against Swindon.

David McGoldrick still doing the business, fair play to him

One excellent pass but as he was substituted, the commentators words were “one of those days”

Any rumours of note? Not really interested in scrolling 32 pages of random discussions.
No, just people posting wish lists
  • a few positive signings could really spur us on i feel!
gives the fans a lift, but also creates more competition for places - Small and TC complacent as they know they are almost undroppable at the moment

Didn't he play for Wales U20 and then declared for England? Not sure if he can go back.
