  • I think a new striker is pretty pointless anyway, unless we sell one.

For me the priority is getting more pace and creativity into the midfield and wingbacks. Edwards, Ramsay and Small are good but the first 2 aren't very creative and Small is hit and miss. An attacking RWB, an AM and a new left sided centre back would be great. As I've said before I'd love us to sign a couple of wingers and have the ability to play 3 up front but it won't happen.

The outs, Edun, Potts and Hylton are the 3 obvious choices, I'd try and cancel the Campbell loan, but I imagine we'll sell Taylor instead, and maybe loan out Asiimwe again. If Watson was fit I'd sell him too.

    AMB, Mannion
    Ramsay, new WB
    Mitchell, Edmonds-Green
    Jones, Mitchell
    New CB, Gillesphey
    Edwards, Small
    Docherty, Anderson
    Coventry, Taylor
    New AM, Berry
    Campbell, Aneke
    Leaburn, Ahadme
    Godden, Kanu

Is 24 players too many? If so, maybe a loan for Kanu and one of REG or Z.Mitchell sold/loaned out too? But a couple of injuries and we're up shit creek. Obviously it's also dependent on when people like Zach and Ramsay are even back

    That’s a crazy stat
Equally as crazy as the 38% to me is that 69% score two or less.

Proper mean reversion going on when you sign strikers on a hot streak out of desperation.
  • I'd like to hope Taylor will stay but I can't see it now. Wouldn't be that bothered if Allan Campbell went back and we signed a proper creator instead.

Kanu is a tricky one because he needs minutes somehow but I can understand keeping him around with Leaburn and Aneke susceptible to injuries.

Kinda makes sense when you think that it’s clubs with an underperforming front line hoping one player will fix it

I can’t see us doing too much defensively really, unless someone pops up late in the window at big value that’s a no brainer like Kayne Ramsay was last January. That could change if someone comes in with a silly offer for Lloyd Jones…

We know we wanted a keeper in the summer - maybe we go back into the market there.

Other than that, some competition for Luke Berry is all I’d hope/expect between now and first week of Feb.

The rest of the window will probably be about getting clubs lined up for fringe players like Edun, Asiimwe, Terry Taylor.
  • Just no more Freddie Ladapo style loans, please.
  • We are looking a Premiership level players according to my source...

    But only on MOTD.

    Love the rumour thread.

Strikers in form aren't likely to be sold in January so unless a club is being offered very silly money then the only strikers moving clubs are likely to be those down the pecking order at their current club......and ergo not very good.

Very good player but not sure he’s what we need. Think he’s a bit better playing deeper and getting on the ball rather than being an attacking midfielder
  • As it stands, we are very reliant on TC and Small providing the pace and width we need, which we know we need due to what we see on the pitch and on paper in terms of results. Loss of form or injuries to either or both of them would be a big problem so a player like CBT would make a lot of sense to me if something could be done.

Pace is 100% the thing we need more of IMO, especially with the way Jones likes to play

    Otherwise known as random clickbait.

they’re not a reliable source. They’ll have just picked up on idle chatter/speculation on Twitter
If you actually bother to read it you can see it is simply an opinion piece.  No basis whatever.

Hopefully not. The competition for Berry needs to be someone like Crowley, who's younger and can still learn from Berry.

Romaine Sawyers was a great player in this league, and very good at the level above, that was around 6-8 years ago though.

    Need better than that.
  • Why would we want a player who is not wanted by a League 2 team

I think he is wanted, just had a short contract and he decided to move on

They wanted him. He just went there to prove his fitness ahead of a better move. He’s way too good for league 2

  • …based on the European big 5 leagues…so  not your typical L1 team target but basically teams that aren’t necessarily signing a first choice main striker but more of a back up, or mopping up someone who could have gone to a rival otherwise.

Same case as CBT, brought in on a free from Tranmere rovers.

It’s important to remember that players have the power now and are more than happy to leave on frees as they can likely get a better deal elsewhere.

    Lettuce hope we aim higher.
Cos he might be a little gem
  • Leaf it out guys, I’m being serious. I don’t want our season to hit an iceberg.
  • Romaine Sawyers?  Did he vote Brexit?
