Is this a “come and get me Cardiff “???
i don't have an issue with him not accepting being abused by some of our fans if its overstepped the mark but regardless, it definitely looks looks like he wants off to Cardiff to me or at least wants to let everybody know there's another option

Would Cardiff want Nathan Jones ?
Is there a power struggle going on at CAFC behind the scenes?
Stoke and Saints wasn't great for his career and CAFC is still a Smorgasbord with 3 different formations in 3 games.
Luton was his finest achievement and if he could be the big cheese in Wales then he would probably be tempted.

CAFC have 36 matches to go and we need unity on and off the pitch to achieve and we really don't need a Nathan Jones explosion.

Yaki dah or iechyd da to our Welsh speakers.

Is there any set of fans at any club that doesn’t try to pick a better team when faced with poor performances?
Of course not, and it was ever thus. But the culture has changed, very much for the worse.
I’m talking about getting in someone’s face to abuse them, not booing from the stands etc.
I remember one of our most gifted players, Mark Aizlewood getting stick. He famously showed some skill and juggled the ball down the East Terrace touchline, received sarcastic cheers then turned around and stuck two fingers up. Leaburn and Garry Nelson both got it too.

Even the legend that is Keith Peacock got plenty of stick towards the back end of his career.

It really isn't new. The intensity might have changed, I'm not sure but I certainly didn't think it was appropriate back then either, because most players try, they just don't always succeed.

I don't ever recall anyone daring to give Killer any stick though, I wonder why 😄

maybe, maybe not but before we had the wobble, the table looked good for him - took us from the edge of the relegation zone last year to top 3 - anyway, lets hope this blows over, the team and management get their act back together following the brum win and we as a fanbase cut a bit more slack when the next inevitable wobble happens

According to many Charlton critics if you can't give personal abuse to players or managers you are WOKE.

Many of you must do the fire drill escape especially at away matches after inept displays and individual mistakes have led to defeat if you haven't seen Mr Angry and his side kicks frothing at the mouth, with bulging eyeballs and telling the players to "fuck off" if they attempt to clap the away 'fans'/ haters.

I have said my bit on the Match thread about Nathan Jones and his rant and personally I feel he has been unsettled by the potential interest by Cardiff. Mentioned by a reporter on the BBC and Jason Mohammed the Cardiff fan presenter said that could be interesting!
This could be a false rumour but it's doing the rounds.
Nathan Jones is a unique sensitive, slightly bonkers man who believes in God. He listens to voices and they upset him unless they say he will be going to heaven.
For Charlton fans let's call Heaven, the Championship!

It's finding the balance between deserved criticism about the turgid nature of 8 of our performances including the wins and loses, yet Cafc look top 6 against Bolton and Birmingham. What a paradox.

Hopefully everyone kisses and makes up and this variety of 4-4-2 which caught the leaders out leads to more enjoyment performances and wins.
Heaven is the Premier League, Championship is purgatory, League One is hell.

However you view it, it's not great publicity.
acting like a child, if you want to move Nat, then fuck off quickly and we'll get someone with a stable personality who will make better use of the players we have
    Because they grow on trees
Quite right Callum. See also 20+ per season strikers
To be fair if Godden plays regularly and we create enough he shouldn’t be far off that. Leaburn has plenty of goals in him if we can keep him fit too.

I like Godden, but let’s see. He’s also a year older than May. We spent the money on Ahadme anyway. My point was always that signing somebody better than May would be difficult and expensive, just as sacking a manager is easy but finding someone better is difficult and expensive too (not least because you usually have to pay off the current guy).

Righto. Not managed to do it for a decade. But if you say so!
    I do say so .. OK ?
  • I can't imagine he'd have called it abuse if it was criticism and that's not something he should be on the receiving end of.
I really hope he sticks around.
After Saturday he has shot himself in the foot a bit though.......... we can all pick the starting 11 now and we know to play them in a 4-4-2 with a box midfield........ simples.... 'shrugs shoulders'

The money we received possibly covered Ahadme’s up front fee, Godden and maybe Dixon.

Agree signing better would have been difficult and expensive, but I don’t think that was the aim. Jones felt the money could have been better spent, i.e. rather than one very good player bring in two good players, one who’s young enough to improve further.

It’s not worked out with Ahadme (so far) though Godden has already scored 4 in fairly limited minutes.

We have the most options up front than we’ve had in years and that should make a big difference, especially in the busy winter periods when we might start picking up more injuries.

People getting carried away here (pot, kettle black I know) a little bit.
Most managers do things that rile fans from time to time, it’s in the nature of the job, but Jones only did two things that made me angry:

    1. Dropping Mitchell for tactical reasons.
He admitted it was a mistake. Of course it might have paid off if REG didn’t have such a stinker. But in most of our views, you don’t tinker with a defence when it’s functioning so well.
    2. Dropping/resting Ramsay, my clear player of the season so far.
Was he tired? Did he asked to be rested? I don’t think so? Again I believe Jones admitted he got that wrong,
Apart from that, the Ahadme thing is annoying, but with Leaburn out and Chuks not fit to start, you could see some logic there. And results wise it appeared to be working. Until it wasn’t.
But I still say those mistakes don’t justify individuals getting in the managers face in front of the crowd, (showboating). He can hear the reaction of the fans generally, and can see for himself the performances on the pitch. Just my opinion.
But I don’t like him calling out the players so much, in particular admitting he got it wrong, followed by ‘but the players didn’t perform’. That’s poor.

I’m sure this will be divisive but I want to say it anyway. In my opinion, fans lose all credibility when they abuse players or managers. Moan all you want, you pay your money and football is a game of opinions after all, but never abuse. Give feedback, say he was wrong, say he’s awful but don’t swear and abuse him. Grow up.

Adults screaming abuse at a man because he lost games of football? Seriously?
Agree but I think NJ is wrong to come out whingeing about it in his post match comments. He must know by now that the performances and results of the team will get an exaggerated reaction from fans and that it goes with the territory. Man up, and then show the abusers how wrong they are by the performances and results on the pitch.
No. It’s unacceptable. You think fans behaved like this back in the day? No, of course they didn’t. People have no self restraint these days. How would you like it if people turned up at your place of work and screamed abuse at you in front of your colleagues and bosses? It doesn’t matter how much someone is paid either.
Back in the day, there weren't a bunch of coke heads.
Have you seen our fanbase? A bit of coke would put 97% of them in cardiac arrest
Any chance I could get some with my ST please
