Recently both May and Jones have come out and said they were being abused by our fans. Where does this abuse take place? I'm not on twitter but is it there? Or are they reading forums? Would be interesting to know and are they actually real fans giving the abuse. I struggle to see it.

There was a absolute bellend on twitter last week saying May's "wife was a whore, and his Dad was a police informant".
I see so much horrible stuff online aimed at players by people who don't have the testicular fortitude to say it to their face. But the sad truth is the players and their families do read it and it does affect them.
Yes there's a small percentage of morons who say abusive stuff (like the example you listed) but most of the time it's just an opinion and not abuse, then the players families and friends seem to take it personally on here (and socials).
Case in point would be players like Inniss (and he isnt the only one by far) who at times had seemed to have a cult following on here and couldn't be blamed for anything. What does one constitute as horrible ? I have said before there are players who shouldnt have been at this club (I.E Inniss, Isted etc), would i say that to his face ? I probably wouldnt walk up to him whilst he is with his family or minding his own business but if he asked me directly should i be playing for Charlton I would of told him i dont think he is good enough.
Inniss didn't have a cult following. He had the majority of the site calling him a caveman psychopath liability and blaming him for every goal we conceded, and a small but vocal gang of basically just me observing that he may also have some positive personal and professional qualities too

The vast majority of people here would say he was liability due to his temperament and his inability to concentrate for a full 90s mins (both of which are evidentially true in my opinion), and it wasnt just you, there was a small number of people who clearly had connections to him and would complain that fans had a negative opinion of him as a footballer and would counteract every instance of criticism with "YoU WouLDNt SaY THAt to HiS FAce tHo" or make excuses for him to blame others.
As for him as an individual, I don't know him but know people that do and by all accounts he is a very nice chap and he did a lot for the community stuff whilst here, I wish him no ill will and im glad to see this season is going well for him so far. I wish him all the best.

He quite likely would have, because if any player including May suggest that they will no longer give their best, then a football club may well feel that they have little option other than to sell. (I'm not suggesting May did say he would "down tools").
I get the feeling, and I'm not the first to say this, Nathan Jones wants a more reliable forward as in one that will do what he tells them to do. I get the impression Alfie does what he does in a similar vein to how Wayne Rooney would work to his own agenda. The problem Alfie brings with him is he pretty much guarantees goals at this level. I'd never question Alfie Mays commitment, work ethic or desire to win in fact they are 3 of his best attributes but I reckon playing for a purist coach like Nathan Jones would be fractious for the pair of them in time. So I imagine Alfie could say he felt pushed out. I don't think any of us begrudge him the move and the life changing size of the contract, he gave it everything for us in a truly awful team and season. My only take on this is that as Alfie wasn't at an academy for the latter half of being a teenager and was playing non-league until he was 24, he has never really played in the more rigid, structured and coached football NJ desires. NJ wants his football and he knows best. Alfie, on the other hand, wants to play in the freest way that allows him to score the most goals. Therein lies the clash, in my eyes.
This was only amplified by watching Alfie on the opposing side for Birmingham at the weekend. He plays where he wants, and tbh, was probably why he was hooked off at HT. I wouldn't go as far as to say he is uncoachable, but given his age and goal return, I just think he thinks he knows best when he is on the pitch and this is probably what annoyed NJ. I also suspect there may have been a few dressing room disagreements as a result, but we'll probably never know.
This led to the door for Alfie being open to a move in the summer via his agent, Huddersfield starting the bidding and then Birmingham giving silly money on wages. The only thing that I dislike about this is that we didn't hold out for a bigger fee and we got our pants pulled down. When they dropped £silly on Stansfield, we look like the mugs. I think Alfie was always going to go because of the relationship with NJ more than anything else.

Because it's not true. He has a fantastic touch, can play off both feet, is clever with his movement and timing of runs and is an intelligent enough footballer to have been deployed wide right, wide left and in the 10 under multiple managers. He's not Macauley Bonne.

The vast majority of people here would say he was liability due to his temperament and his inability to concentrate for a full 90s mins (both of which are evidentially true in my opinion), and it wasnt just you, there was a small number of people who clearly had connections to him and would complain that fans had a negative opinion of him as a footballer and would counteract every instance of criticism with "YoU WouLDNt SaY THAt to HiS FAce tHo" or make excuses for him to blame others.
As for him as an individual, I don't know him but know people that do and by all accounts he is a very nice chap and he did a lot for the community stuff whilst here, I wish him no ill will and im glad to see this season is going well for him so far. I wish him all the best.

Because it's not true. He has a fantastic touch, can play off both feet, is clever with his movement and timing of runs and is an intelligent enough footballer to have been deployed wide right, wide left and in the 10 under multiple managers. He's not Macauley Bonne.

Exactly this. His goals have been the difference in 5 league games this season, which have got Birmingham an extra 9 points already and we're only in October.

My frustration refarding Alfie based on what I saw last season is when things may not be going right and he isn't getting goals it feels like he is chasing them too hard, a bit like a headless chicken at times. Of course his desire for goals is probably the reason he gets so many so it is something you just have to accept.

Nathan Jones wasn't keen on May, for reasons that we can suspect, but not know for certain.
This is clear to anyone that saw May dropped/left out and also being subbed.
May would obviously be unhappy if the manager didn't "fancy him" and he wasn't pretty certain of starting.
May's wife was also unhappy living in Kent and wanted to return north to live closer to her parents/family in Doncaster.
Huddersfield came in for him - bingo.

This was only amplified by watching Alfie on the opposing side for Birmingham at the weekend. He plays where he wants, and tbh, was probably why he was hooked off at HT. I wouldn't go as far as to say he is uncoachable, but given his age and goal return, I just think he thinks he knows best when he is on the pitch and this is probably what annoyed NJ. I also suspect there may have been a few dressing room disagreements as a result, but we'll probably never know.
This led to the door for Alfie being open to a move in the summer via his agent, Huddersfield starting the bidding and then Birmingham giving silly money on wages. The only thing that I dislike about this is that we didn't hold out for a bigger fee and we got our pants pulled down. When they dropped £silly on Stansfield, we look like the mugs. I think Alfie was always going to go because of the relationship with NJ more than anything else.
It was always a big call for NJ to make, but one he needed to make to ensure that the squad knew no one player was more important than NJ and his structure.
