Only caught the second half. Absolutely dire. It’s only a cup game so not the end of the world but still big questions about where the creativity is going to come from.
Birmingham have just spent ten zillion quid and loads of their signings were on show. They're a frighteningly good L1 side and we largely matched them while not playing well. Chin up folks
That was pretty poor all round. I’m not at all convinced with Gillesphey it must be said. Thought Mitchell did ok when he came on. Midfield too ponderous. Toothless up front. We will be hard to beat but can we do enough up the other end to get promoted.
Meh. Decent enough performance in a competition that doesn’t really matter. Minutes in the legs for some players and a confidence booster for Coventry. Confident if we play like we did until the goal against Orient that we’ll win

Feel like we're going to hear this a lot this season.
I didn't think they were amazing outside of a good 15 minutes after they scored. Same with Wigan on Saturday.
An even game, in that we nullified Brum options. Is the game plan to bore opponents so much so that they can't take it any more and let us score. If we'd had strikers on the pitch and a playmaker we'd have won that.
Heavily rotated Birmingham beat heavily rotated Charlton by single goal thanks to a 25 yard effort from a 19 year old right back playing out of position that wouldn’t be able to do it again if you gave him 100 attempts.
Yeah I’m over this one already. Not sure others are going to be though.
Yeah, all that's true. But it is maybe just slightly concerning that in two games now we haven't been able to create a single noteworthy chance when we've got the ball.
Law of averages says that isn’t going to continue.
No. The law of averages says if you keep creating chances and missing them then give it time and they will start going in.
Not sure the same rings true if you're not creating much in the first place.
Silly me I thought you were talking about missing chances. I now reread and realise you’re talking about “noteworthy” chances which is completely subjective.
The stat I’ve got in front of me says we’ve created 3 “big chances” and allowed 0 so far this season.

It’s a good job they made 8 changes then otherwise we’d have been in real trouble…

Should really have been 1-1 with the pen.
Thank you all for the updates.
Long balls ineffective.
No plan b.
Birmingham, for all the money spent, not that good either.
TC tested the goalkeeper with a ferocious strike from 12 yards.

That aside, it was all quite high, wide and ugly. I don't think it's a coincidence that players who do not score too regularly are fluffing chances.

Give it 3 more months & it will be 100%
