Tonight it's cup "fever" time in the league cup 1st round, and Alfie May FC roll's into town in the guise of Birmingham City, now will we win, of course, will there be a big crowd, doubt it, but we will give it a good showing I do know if Nathan has anything to do with it.
So no CATV for this one, and we have to rely on good old Uncle SKY for this one...so match thread should be buzzin'......

We've met 66 times prior to tonight's meeting, with us winning 24, Blues 21 and the remaining 21 clashes resulting in draws. the last time we met came in July 2020 when a stoppage-time equaliser from Lukas Jutkiewicz salvaged a point for the Blues at St. Andrew’s

How do we all think we will do?

Should the Addicks continue in the same 3-5-2 formation used during Saturday’s opening-day victory at Wigan Athletic, Rarmani Edmonds-Green will join captain Lloyd Jones and Macaulay Gillesphey in defence, ahead of goalkeeper Will Mannion.

Watson and Small are expected to operate as wing-backs, with Berry accompanying Conor Coventry and Karoy Anderson in Jones’ three-man midfield.

Academy graduates Daniel Kanu and Tyreece Campbell will lead the line.

Charlton: Mannion; Edmonds-Green, Jones (c), Gillesphey; Watson, Coventry, Berry, Anderson, Small; Kanu, Campbell

Subs: Maynard-Brewer, A.Mitchell, Z.Mitchell, Ramsay, Edwards, Small, Docherty, Ahadme, Aneke

Off we go...

Are we sure there won’t be any Charlton TV for this?

Bit crap for the international fans if so. Will have to find a dodgy stream if there’s no legal ways to access it.

12/5 for a home win seems generous given nobody has a clue who is playing.

Just checked on SKY and can't see us on there either,
SKY f/ball is showing Sheff Utd v Wrexham
SKY + is showing  Preston V Sunderland
So nothing as far as I can see?

Thanks Clive, looking on Sky Go it was only showing the two listed, no mention of us, or any other match come to that...

Odd that Carabao don't want to offer international coverage as it's a Thai brand. I'm sure Carabao himself would be staying up until 3am to watch this one, if it were available!

I've just remembered that the last time we played Brimingham if we'd been able to hold on for a minute longer we would have stayed up, but they decided to score a stupid equaliser that they didn't need. What I'm saying is I've just remembered that I hate Birmingham, though Pratley getting skinned by Jude Bellingham for the goal is funnier in hindsight.
Will be very funny if they decide to rest Alife May for this one. Keep Mannion in, give REG, Taylor, Berry and Small and run out and never speak of it again.

League Cup and FA Cup games have never been available to stream on Charlton TV, to my knowledge. Broadcasting rights issues.

3-0 Charlton Kanu x2 and Tupac

may sent off mid way through the second half for violent conduct after lashing out in frustration at not getting a sniff of the ball all night
  • We love this competition don't we? The Man Utd season apart it is normally round 1 or 2 exit. I think we might buck the trend tonight and sneak a 1-0 as Brum are still getting to know each other.
  • 11 changes for both teams, 0-0, Charlton win 1-0 on pens after the first 15 pens are all missed. Birmingham fans miss the last train home as it took 20 minutes getting the last ball back as too many of them had gone over the bar and out of the ground.

Priority for me is no injuries and minutes to those that need it. Hopefully we win but if we don't I won't lose any sleep over it tbh, I'd happily be knocked out in the first round of every cup if we got promoted.

Pratley pulled his hamstring in the process!

Yeah it’s not been taken away necessarily - just thought the new deal might have meant it was available. Sadly doesn’t look to be the case.

Was hoping to get to the match, on a wing and a prayer with a flight back from Glasgow at 14.40. Got to the airport only to realise we were flying to Heathrow not Gatwick. But all was not lost! Flight was on time, in fact due to land nearly half an hour early! We had our slot, we had a short taxi to the runway, we were ready to go, next in the air, five minutes ahead of schedule… We are going to make it!!!!
Then we stop. The flight that has just landed has blown a tyre on landing. The fire brigade have to get involved, once they have given the nod the plane has to be towed off the runway. Then they have to check the runway for debris. We take off an hour late, fifteen minute wait for the first Lizzy line out of Heathrow. Now slowly making our way to our hotel in Sidcup, where we will arrive juuuust too late to get to the game. COYR!

You know, for a brief moment I had to think whether you meant Pratley had pulled his own hamstring or Bellingham's, because going after a man's hamstring and trying to tear it off does actually sound like something he'd do
