Simon Francis must have some unfinished business with us!!! Hahahahaha0

I think Chris Conn-Clarke will be playing in the efl next season. Young, has a decent right foot and won't cost the earth.4

I watched Danny Hylton quite a bit at Aldershot - I’ve never seen a player give as much and try as hard as him- I wasn’t atall surprised when he got a decent move from Aldershot - he had limited footballing ability but made up for it in sheer determination.Callumcafc said:He’s too old now but a guy that squeezed everything out of his ability !3 -
What about a good striker , rather than a “lump”fenaddick said:New GK & lump up front are the biggest additions we need. Looking obvious our midfield will generally consist of Anderson, Coventry and another so a box to box midfielder who breaks up play will be very important too. We obviously need more but that's the glaring areas to me1 -
Luke Berry, for a punt? 15 games in the EPL but being released by Luton.Swisdom said:
Fair comment but I don’t want to betray the person I was speaking to.thenewbie said:
Not having a go Swisdom but this is a truly beautiful piece of rumour-mongery. Got just enough to be intriguing and invites a bit of speculation, but still very vague on details like age and position etc so people can go wild with some ideas for who it is.Swisdom said:I've heard the name of a player we are meant to be interested in and, whilst I don't personally know much about him, he definitely has the makings of a step up in quality
I'm not saying that's a bad thing, I actually think it's great.
Of course the fact that pretty much every single position needs serious upgrading makes it even better as it gives us even more room to wonder. He’s an LB but not a LB
Unlikely anything will happen for at least 2 or 3 weeks
i think it will be a busy summer0 -
Please can we never sign another player frI-SAW-POUSO-PLAY said:Christian Walton from Ipswich

I like the thinking behind this , hasn't scored as many goals from midfield in the past couple of seasons but at 31 with bags of experience and being well known to NJ would definitely be a big upgrade in quality.0 -
Lewis Bate?1

Is this going to be the summer rumours thread or should a new one be started for that?If it’s the latter, wait for a journo to link us to someone before opening a new thread or start it now we have a mysterious LB rumour..?
Yes these are the big decisions.0 -
Horsfield was at The Valley this week, he'll get mentioned next.Garrymanilow said:OK, so season's over and the transfer speculation starts. So far we've had Phillips, Bauer, Wiredu and Karlan Grant suggested as players we could sign. No mention of Fosu yet but I'm sure his time will come. Any other bets on former players who will be mentioned as good signings this window?0 -
Add Dobson to that listAthletico Charlton said:CL_Phantom said:Offer contracts to Hector and Thomas - Know the club and proper mustard with a top midfield in front of them
Pay Supa Dobbo 600k to break his contract and stay with us, propa Charlton
Pat Bauer on a free - knows the club and how to get promoted
Josh Magennis on a free - Knows the club and can do the big man stuff, good squad player
Jordan Cousins on a free - Knows the club, versatile, good squad player
Tariqe Fosu on a free - knows the club, played at a higher level, like a League One Arjen Robben
If after ex players we should be targeting Gomez, Pope, Lookman, Konsa, Aribo, Beilik and Sarmiento too surely, or have the board no ambition?

Yes these are the big decisions.
There'll be at least another 4 "who do you want/ rumours" threads started that will all turn into Dobson debates before the window even opens.2 -

Hopefully we can keep actual rumours there.3 -
Elliot Watt has not signed a new contract at Salford. Would expect him to move up to league 1
Set piece specialist, quieter this season but had 15 assists last season in league 2. Could be a good pickup on a free4 -
He’s a fucking passing machine to! I’ve been recommending him to us for 2 years now. Really underrated. Hard tackler, intelligent, great delivery. Potential captain material and still young.NabySarr said:Elliot Watt has not signed a new contract at Salford. Would expect him to move up to league 1

Would you class him as a Dobson replacement?Swisdom said:

Said he'd be a good signing a few pages back - I'm sure he'll go to a League 1 club. There's rumours on social media he's off to Stockport (same with Conn-Clarke) but I've no idea if they are 2+2=5 on the basis that neither would have to move house etc.NabySarr said:Elliot Watt has not signed a new contract at Salford. From the descriptions of Elliot Watt I have just read, he sounds a lot like the descriptions of Terry Taylor before we signed him... Not seen either of them play but if they are that similar, with similar stats (albeit TT's stats from a year ago pre injury) is Watt an upgrade there? Not seen any news on TT's injury progress and if he will ever fully recover to be able to feature in our first team.North Lower Neil said:

Tough to tell with Taylor I guess given we've barely seen him! Got a feeling him and McGrandles will both prove decent L1 players but elsewhere.Chrispy51 said:

Watt is definitely the passing one of a midfield two, more likely to get the ball and move it forward etc than put in many tackles. If we kept Taylor then maybe with Coventry as well it's too many of that type.0 -
He’s on loan from Brighton at N’hampton. But if we could get him would be a perfect addition to a NJ style team6 -
Connor Ogilvie may well be on Portsmouth's released list - hoped we'd sign him when he went there 3 years ago, would be a good signing now to fight for that LCB spot.
Localish lad, good record at Portsmouth, still only 28.4 -
Sean Raggett also potentially going to be released by them. A bit older at 30 but also localishNorth Lower Neil said:Connor Ogilvie may well be on Portsmouth's released list - hoped we'd sign him when he went there 3 years ago, would be a good signing now to fight for that LCB spot.

Would be a good signing, but I think he might be more likely to be offered another year by Portsmouth.follett said:

Maybe Ogilvie will be too, who knows!0 -
Fraser Horsfall has been one of the best CBs in L2 over the past two seasons. I think he'd walk into our xi, captain material too.
It goes without saying we need wide players, we have zero options atm. Jodi Jones from Notts County would be a good addition. London boy who can play the ball, at 5 10" he pasts the highr test too.
Lewis Wing is another i'd like to see us go for. Had a good season in poor Reading team. Has lot's of experience and would filla slot we desperately need filling.0 -
Sean Raggett will not sign an extension if he is not guaranteed to play..fact I think Pompey don't see him as 1st choice in the championship0
-
Also I guess at his age there could be an issue on years they offer v years he wants etc.Grovenuts said:Sean Raggett will not sign an extension if he is not guaranteed to play..fact I think Pompey don't see him as 1st choice in the championship
If he does leave Portsmouth he should be one we go after.

I will try my best not to entertain any transfer threads this summer and steer clear.
The pain and anguish is after all akin with beating your testicles wafer thin with a steak mallet...
