Addai the standout here but also worth noting that Lo-Tutala only played his first game for Doncaster on 3rd February.

  • Tennai Watson is in the L1 team of the year which says enough about these stats based sites to me.

You’re right. If we want to look at a goalkeeper, we should find out which team conceded the least goals last season and sign their keeper instead. That’ll be the most predictive measure of future success.

    Issue is that will;

    A) likely be a team promoted
    B) likely had a very good defence in front of the keeper so might not be the best barometer of the keeper’s ability.
  • Rafferty and Ragget being released by Pompey. Both have played most of the games this season. Might be worth getting both?

Raggett plays in a position we desperately need, we should definitely be trying.  Rafferty seems more a full back than a wing back, and if we're looking for the latter, might not suit.  But I've only seen highlights etc so who knows!

Note Ogilvie has been offered a new contract - doesn't say he's accepted or how long he's been offered etc, but you'd imagine he'll probably stay.

Not sure if he’s been mentioned elsewhere but Okonkwo set to be released by Arsenal this summer as well.  Had some good reviews winning promotion with Wrexham this year.

I reckon Wrexham will sign him permanently.

Hate to say it, but the whole circus around Wrexham, and quite possibly how much they are paying, probably makes them more of a draw than us at the minute

I think it’ll be interesting how their wages hold up in League 1.  Their owners are already in for a decent wedge and the top of this league is definitely a different beast to League 2 financially.  Wouldn’t be surprised to see them plateau off a bit now. At least not blowing teams out of the water.

Absolutely not Ragget, he is the biggest donkey going! Absolutely delighted whenever he started against us, he always looks so so nervy! I’d hate it if we signed him!

Thing with Wrexham is now they’re incredibly clever with sponsorship and the higher up they go, the more big companies are going to want to get involved because of Ryan Reynolds. That alone is going to help them financially and make them more attractive to players.

Wrexham are playing Chelsea and Bournemouth in the US in July. They’ve now got a fan base in North America.

The more success they get, the more likely they’ll put in as well as they’ll have the bug now and know if they get recruitment right this summer, they could give themselves a shot of gaining 3 promotions in a row.

To be fair half of their team look bad against us given our record v them!

Think he's looked Good whenever I've seen him against anyone else and you only have to see the reaction of Portsmouth fans to the announcement today to see he's had a very good season.

Got a Wrexham mate and he's off to Vancouver in July to see them, he went to Philadelphia last year.

For Wrexham to get another promotion, they really need to spend wisely or get more investment. They can't keep paying players to drop a level to play for them, with the promise of social media support as a way to cover off the finances they miss out on.

Wrexham are okay all time they are getting success and promotions with all the attendant media hype along the way.

Once they plateau or hit the ceiling (which they will at some point) the wheels will probably come off and they will go back down as rapidly as they went up, IMO.

Seeing as this is now the Wrexham thread, this news story has been doing the rounds this week:

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ryan-reynolds-loses-millions-wrexham-29084611.amp

Sure they still have the Hollywood and Disney TV appeal, but are they starting to feel the pinch....

Tune in next episode to find out!

I'm not expecting them to steam roll through league one just yet

I'd argue that is offset by the value of the club they have built considering Initial cost Vs it's worth now with it's popularity and profile especially in the states

I know he's been mentioned before on this thread, but Christian Walton must be top of the GK list? Championship quality, excellent for Ipswich in League 1, big presence at the back.

There are lots of keepers who seemed to have links to Jones who are potentially out of contract:

    Christian Walton
    Matt Macey
    James Shea
    Jed Steer.

    How does Nathan rate them?

The fella at Crawley looks good. NTT20 basically saying that without his saves they would be no way near playoffs

Well we need at least 1 more winger given TC is staying

Seen Crawley a couple of times this season - Didn't take note of their keeper's name, but he did make some decent saves. One game was late October against Forest Green - They lost 4-2 and it could have been worse but keeper didn't look spectacular, and another early March against Notts County and he looked better. Certainly more assured.

Would he be good enough to step up? All will depend on if Crawley get promoted, same goes for if he's willing to leave Crawley.

both likely free agents would be high on my list if they could be sold the plan

Elliot Watt has not signed a new contract at Salford. Would expect him to move up to league 1

Set piece specialist, quieter this season but had 15 assists last season in league 2. Could be a good pickup on a free
He’s a fucking passing machine to!  I’ve been recommending him to us for 2 years now.  Really underrated.  Hard tackler, intelligent, great delivery.  Potential captain material and still young.

I wanted him when he was at Bradford, was pissed off when he went to Salford and still think he could do a job in our engine room
Would you class him as a Dobson replacement?
Posssibly but a little more creative and maybe less blood and thunder.  In fairness Dobbo was pretty unique so it's hard to quantify.  Watt is always keen to get on the ball but might be a bit similar to the Coventry we are told we are going to get (but haven't seen a lot of yet)

With the news of Dobbo now leaving confirmed, my big wish (after the imperious Piergianni) would be Brendan Wiredu now. Bring the lad home.

He can play as a centre back, anchor, box to box. I think he'd be an excellent Dobson replacement.

Also so happens to be Fleetwoods captain and we need a bit of leadership in the middle.

Seems like a no brainer move for me

These are necessities. Good commanding keeper and CB. A good passing energetic CM and a striker that can play on his own if needed tactics wise. As Curbs said the spine!
