Summer Transfer Wishlist 2024

Thanks, he’d be a very good option depending on the size of the fee.Callumcafc said:
If you believe transfermarkt, his Villa contract expires June 2025.LargeAddick said:
I tried to find out Sinisalo’s contract situation at Villa but all I came up with was he signed a new deal two years ago but didn’t say the length of it.Callumcafc said:A lot of attention on Lukas Jensen the Lincoln goalkeeper who’s been very impressive this season. But I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re not also closely monitoring Luke Southwood at Cheltenham.Ever present for them the last two seasons, had interest from Ipswich last summer and just won their player of the year.
Four names to keep an eye on IMO: Jensen (Lincoln), Southwood (Cheltenham), Walton (Ipswich) and Sinisalo (Exeter, on loan from Villa)0 -
I agree, he’d be my first choice. I also do think it’s the least likely but depends on how aggressive the summer ambition is. Lots of potential and could become a number one at at least Championship level for many years.LargeAddick said:

Villa look very settled in goal with Emi Martinez likely to be first choice there for at least a few more years (unless a big UCL club came in for him).If we have money to offer and it helps them with FFP considerations, they might take it if we also included some sort of sell-on or buy-back clause.0 -
Better then Coventry we have a championship player who is only going to get better .. you build the side around Coventry just hope when he plays in the championship it will be with ussam3110 said:Pie in the sky time and based on what Methven and Jones have said recently, I think a squad of:New GK, Isted/AMBRamsay, Watson, Asiimwe, Edun, Small, New WBNew CB, New CB, Gillesphey, Jones, REG, NessCoventry, New CM, Taylor, Anderson, New AMMay, Leaburn, Aneke, Kanu, WickhamDoesn't look far off what the club wants, with the 8-8-8 rule covering:Academy/YoungstersAMB, Ness, Small, Asiimwe, Anderson, Kanu, Leaburn, New CBGood HandsWatson, Ramsay, Edun, Gillesphey, Jones, Taylor, Wickham, REG"Elite"Aneke, May, Coventry, New GK, New CB, New WB, New CM, New AM
In an ideal world we'd maybe try to find better than Wickham and Coventry and they don't sign/move to "good hands" respectively and we sign mostly elite players, but that's a tall ask1 -
Why hasn’t he ???PopIcon said:
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but you are on your own here.RonnieMoore said:
All especially passing .. Dobson at his level now hence the reason he not received a single offer from any other British club we had to fight championship sides to sign Coventry .. Coventry is the future build the side around him and hopefully we will join him in the championshipPopIcon said:
Great, you'll be able to answer this question. What part of Coventry's game is better than Dobson's?RonnieMoore said:
Watch every game …….PopIcon said:
Do you actually watch the matches? As in Charlton matches?RonnieMoore said:
Having a laugh … Coventry is a huge up grade on Dobson and will be playing championship football sooner rather then later hopefully with is .. Taylor won’t go he will be back up to Coventry having signed 3 year contract .. if Dobson changes his mind and accepts the offer on the table and he buys himself out of his contract .. is the only way he will stay .TEL said:I'm expecting a complete revamp of our centre halves. When Jones was interviewed, he said that three coaches could not all be inept at defensive coaching and said its personnel. He had Small and Ramsay on the pitch who are technically his players. The three centre halves that played have all had issues all season. Ness out of favour now completely so I'm expecting wholesale changes in this area. Gillesphey we are stuck with. However Hector and Thomas are out of contract. I'd be surprised if either get offered a contract unless it's as back up to new incoming cb's.
So much deadwood to get rid of though. It may restrict Jones getting who he wants due to the squad being so big.Taylor ( has he been in a Jones squad at all?) McGrandles, Fraser all need to be moved on. The loans sent back .
It has to be a huge churn otherwise it's going to be another mid table season at best.
First signing for me would be Dobson. Coventry isn't fit to lace George's boots and doesn't even play the role George dominates in.
Coventry has yet to play a full season for any club, that's despite him being 24 years old. Also, we haven't seen anything in his game that suggests he's Championship quality. So what exactly are you looking at?
I'm 100% confident Jones would pick Dobson over Coventry for the DM position.0 -
This tells me that he will not be going back to Germany.RonnieMoore said:4 -
If we wanted an experienced No1 that NJ would have managed I wonder if James Shea would be available from Luton?
I do like the Southwood and Sinsalo ideas though from Callum2 -
Using @sam3110 as a basis
I think we need:New GK, Isted/AMBRamsay, Watson, Asiimwe, Edun, Small, New WBNew CB, New CB, Gillesphey, Jones, REG, NessCoventry, New CM, New CM, Anderson, New AMMay, Leaburn, Aneke, Kanu, Wickham
Terry Taylor who knows what is next for him, hasn't broken into the squad, when he has he's been average (just like all else) and he's definitely not a Dobson replacement.
If Leaburn goes in summer (unlikely thanks to his injury record) we'll need to replace him with a similar striker - Fast and Strong.
AMB or Isted as second choice isn't really a choice for me, neither have been great so wouldn't be too concerned if we got 2 new GK's
So that's potentially 9 new players needed.5 -
Agree with that Dazzler. But I'd add a new hold-up striker who can play 40 games. As much as I like Wickham, he hasn't played more than 25 since 2013.2
-
Yet again Hector and Jones start. Which makes you wonder what NJ thinks about our other centre backs.2

Nathan Jones set to meet with #cafc's out of contract players next week to discuss their futures.

The likes of Michael Hector and Terell Thomas both free agents at end of June. pic.twitter.com/mutEgBlrT9
Strange we've not even started discussions with those out of Contract, bit of a late move in its own right if we want things done within two months.0 -

Discussions will have been had along the lines of: "Prove yourself if you want a contract, then we'll talk again."ForeverAddickted said:Nathan Jones set to meet with #cafc's out of contract players next week to discuss their futures.

Assume there is a reasonable chance the meeting will be saying thanks for your efforts and good luck in your future careers away from Charlton. No rush for that chat.4 -
Why are we needing a new goalkeeper then?superdulvertonred said:Good commanding goal keeper for me. Think both Istead and AMB are better than most in this league but for promotion a upgrade would be a

A Premier League ground and a Premier League manager will tempt good players.

Two are big strikers. Tick.ForeverAddickted said:
One is an all-action midfielder who can cover almost anywhere on the pitch.
Last is a ypung CB (who may command a fee) playing a level above.0 -

Notice that Bialkowski is leaving Millwall this summer, having been dislodged as Number One there - Wouldnt be a bad option as Goalkeeper, despite his connections.
Age may be against him2 -

Brendan Wiredu? Think he only would've been in his early teens when Jones left the club, and I'm not sure where they would've crossed paths since.

Would love us to go and get Brendan, he’s got unfinished business with us and is a class above the dross we have currently.1

Ronan Curtis …. Proved his fitness at Wimbeldon now ready to jump back into league one …1

George Dobson would be a great signing IMO4
-
One player I wouldn't mind us looking at is playing today for Altrincham against Bromley. Chris Conn-Clarke is young and has a point to prove but has had a super season and proven he is better than National League standard,
22 goals and half a dozen assist from attacking midfield is not to be sniffed at. Got a bit of Andy Reid about him too. Tigerish. tenacious and a really good low centre of gravity
