I am really hopeful that Charlton are actively considering Warnock. He is an impact manager and would definitely sort us out this season. As for next season I doubt he’d want to stay beyond that but with the right support in the summer I could see him getting us promoted.
I hope the club are on the phone to Big Sam. The only way we get out this situation is going back to basics! 4-4-2 Brexit football, all British players!

Whoever comes in I really do hope the board do not make demands that the football has to be a certain style and played a certain way. This has never been successful for us. Just let the new guy get on with what he knows will win games.

Keeping us up shouldn’t be difficult, we shouldn’t need a short term specialist for it.
Much rather pick a manager for the long term, if they are even half-decent they will keep us up. But they also get a close look at the squad ahead of the summer
I assume they didn't sack MA without first having considered who next.
I further assume they are therefore already negotiating with parties and the 'message to supporters' is mere fluff / PR nonsense about reviewing who / what next.
You’re giving them too much credit if you think they have/had someone lined up. If that was the case they’d have been appointed yesterday. It’s not a nice business but you owe it to the club to have someone lined up ready to takeover.
Look at Forest recently, sacked Cooper on the 19th December, Nuno appointed the next day.
It’s not like Appleton’s sacking came out of the blue, he’d been dire for months. It’s inexcusable for Scott, Rodwell and Methven not to have a managerial succession plan, they clearly don’t have one. Clueless.

Of course, trouble is I don't trust this lot to pick the right long term manager in a short period of time. I'd feel much more confident with Warnock in now, get the job done and go from there.
IF Warnock came in that would be a first class appointment, and would give us a fighting chance of safety. If we stayed up by the skin of our teeth I'd say "thanks Mr Warnock, you did what you were paid to do". However, it would raise further questions to me the state of the squad.

It’s inconceivable the conversation was not held before they binned him.
More the case might be an inability to pay what they need to pay.
I fear they are having to balance their own costs/remuneration in and around the funds available and 2 x payoffs (however modest) were not budgeted for.
We should be looking for a manager to do that and then get us promoted next season and take us on into the championship. Warnock is not that man

Pretty sure he’s been quite open about just looking to do rescue jobs now. Tried doing the summer and a full season with Huddersfield but ended up not doing well and agreeing to leave

It is inconceivable but they clearly didn’t have a plan when they sacked Holden and if they had someone lined up then they’d already be in charge.

That could work nicely. Euell or Jackson could learn a lot from someone like Warnock. Probably the former is more likely because of the latter being at a club and already being a head coach/manager.
