This new guy is left footed though…giving us the balance most managers who play 3 CBs want.
Thomas has played LCB & LB for us before but it isn’t his best / natural position as I think he’s right footed (he’s just been a makeshift as we have so few left footers).

Yeah. Could be. But I'd hope we'd need at least 5 senior CBs to play 352, plus Appleton has never shown he can change formation.
I think he's coming in to play LCB so Jones can go on his natural right side.
Also, credit to Jones for barely putting a foot wrong... While playing off his wrong foot! Can't say similar for his current partner.
On paper it genuinely does appear to tick most boxes:
A position we need? Check. From a higher league? Check. Experienced? Check. Fitness record decent over most of his career? Check. Paid a (substantive) fee to acquire? Check.
So presumably he's going to shred both knees in a freak accident during his first training session and never actually play because, you know, this is Charlton.
Someone’s never watched Thomas properly 😂 watch him here, often playing as a right sided CB for Wimbledon and uses his right foot a lot for someone who is apparently left footed.

Where did I say he's definitely left footed?
Muggy comment
I thought he was two footed, but prefers playing on the left, so slightly favours his left foot.
An interesting career, in that he started at Newcastle, and after playing for Carlisle, went to Oz to play for Brisbane before returning to play for Plymouth.
Not too keen, mainly because of the recent injury.
Reading from Plymouth fans that he has a groin issue and has been working himself back to fitness?
This is the mistake we keep making, signing players before they've proven they can do a 46 game season again.
Sounds like it's a done deal, so it is what it is, just got a horrible feeling he's going to get injured or struggle for minutes based on what I am reading
Clarke Harris has been left out of Peterborough’s match day squad today.
No Stephen Humphrys in the Wigan squad today either.
Clarke-Harris injured 🤕 apparently he’s not played for the previous 4 games apart from the last game where he scored 2 - he wants away but surely his agent is vying for a championship club like Birmingham or Stoke ?

certainly seems more promising than Thomas at LCB.

"Ghillespie"
'no, no, no, there's a "Y" as well'
"Ghyllespie?"
'no, it's all wrong, the H and the Y are at the end!'
"Ah ok I got you. Gillespiehy"
'ah fuck it, just call him Macaulay'
"Macauley it is"
'🙄'
