I don't think we will sign another CB after bringing in REG and Gillesphey. I think we will get one more striker/number 10 and that will be it. Personally think we are desperate for another wingback who can also attack.

I’d be happy with a wingback who can defend first 😂
The best midfielder defensively in league 2 this season (statistically), only 21 and very mobile. Surprised we wasn't in for him as he's a London lad, has potential to improve and could potentially be a big transfer fee for a club in the future.
Even if Dobson goes we do not need any more defensively minded CMs. Coventry, Taylor, Mcgrandles, Bakinson, Edmonds-Green, Mitchell (Next Season) could all play that role
Well that depends on the manager and I'd have to disagree regardless.
Coventry will be in our long term plans for sure, there's question marks all over Terry Taylor atm, McGrandles isn't very good from when he has featured, Bakinson isn't guaranteed to be here, we don't know enough about 'REG' and Mitchell is not ready for the first team, not even close from what I've seen.
Conteh isn't purely defensive minded. He is quicker than all the players you've mentioned and moves with the ball well, he just so happens to be a bit more all action. I'd say he's more likely to drive the ball forwards than any of our current midfielders (assuming he can bring his qualities up a league)
Can only go by what I've watched and heard but that's about all I can do for most of these Charlton players atm, as I barely see them feature or they're new signings.
I personally think that's a bit of a coup for Brizzle Rovers and I'd be curious to see how he fairs in league 1.
The interesting thing is that this Hungarian team seem to be the only one interested in him. Obviously might be different in the summer but it strengthens our hand if no one else is trying to unsettle him
I was surprised at this. I don’t think he’s some sort of world beater and expected a glut of Championship clubs to come in for him, but I thought more UK clubs may want him. Like you say, might be different in the summer when he’s officially out of contract
Like who though? He's not good enough for the Championship, the top L1 teams don't make use of a player with his skillset and the other L1 teams can't afford him. He's been the most consistent player in a team that has finished 13th then 10th and are currently 16th and angling down. He'll want a payrise on what he's on now and he's on a decent wage with us. Add to that the fact that we'll demand a fee now but he's free in the summer he's just not good value at the moment
Who knows, just slightly surprised this Hungarian club are the only one we know of. Do I think he’ll go on and destroy the championship, no, but do I think he could get higher than us currently, definitely. Not sure how that translates to who might be interested, but one club from Hungary isn’t what I expected
I have worked abroad before and have travelled a lot and never found a city better than London. It has culture, history, architecture, great restaurants, theatres, great sport and much more. It's not perfect but no where is. I think English people talk it down toi much at times. Having said all of that I have never understood why more English players don't play abroad. Not sure Hungry Infront of 3,000 people is overly attractive though.
Anyone who slags London off just hasn't been anywhere else much. Yep, parts of it are a shit hole, and the rat race starts here but the clue is.... Why is every other bugger trying to get here?
Got a feeling that transfer activity this window might have dried up due to a crisis behind the scenes. Hope that isn’t the case because we still need reinforcements.
What crisis…..do we unquestionably KNOW there’s one?
I think we need another big striker option or at least an all round striker option rather than another number 10 or at least as a higher priority. We already have a few who can play there (Fiorini, Watsonm Fraser if he stays) and in a 352 its pretty common to play with 2 8's rather than an 8 and a 10 so I dont see the 10 position as such a priority. Whereas if Ladapo picks up an injury we are back at square 1, no one to partner May other than Kanu who isnt the big hold up type.
I agree. But playing devils advocate: Camara, McG and Taylor have had injury problems and cant really be relied on, even if they are fit they arent really the tough tackling shield the defense type. Yes they like to sit deep but they are passers who like to try and control the game from deep. Bakinson is more of a box- to Box number 8 than a defensive number 4. REG is more of a CB that can cover full back and midfield if needed. Dobbo is the only proper number 4 in my eyes. In a promotion season you dont need that type of player in every game if you are dominant in midfield but you will need them plenty over the course of the season (see Pratley) if Dobbo goes in the summer then we will need someone to do that role next season.
Its very unlikely we will get a new 10 as long as Fraser is here. He is too expensive to be out of the squad and he is probably the best 10 in the current squad (not saying much)

They think the streets of London are paved with gold

Quite.
what we do need, however, are some attacking mids/creative players because without CBT we have no one to actually do anything with the ball for our forwards to finish off.
Is it likely that we'll be signing anymore players considering the fiasco that's currently being played out at the Valley.
Who in their right mind would want to join?
If they have been kept locked in a shed for 10 years. Football knows what a wattle woven basket this club has been, it's all down to money and ambition at the end of the day. Saying that, who the fuck would sign for us? Excepting the latest encumbants of the poison challice of course.
So those players that have already signed, have they got a case for being sold a dummy and can now remove themselves from their contracts.
Because that would, I think be reasonable interpretation of false promises made by Scott and Appleton.
Or, I noticed Cory's reasons for joining Derby, Massive Club, Like the Project and vision repeat ad infinitum. Are players so think they can't recognise bullshit?

Coventry - yes Taylor - who knows, he's always injured. Can't be relied upon. McGrandles - has been rubbish since we signed him, can't be relied upon. Bakinson - might not be here. REG - isn't he a defender? In any case no one has seen him play so who knows if he's a good defensive midfielder. Mitchell - very young, probably would be too much to expect of him.
So out of that lot it's only Coventry who could be relied upon, especially for a side who would hope to challenge for promotion. So i have to agree with @Braziliance why not sign a promising young player (from London) for that position?
Am I the only one who thinks we need a better goalkeeper?
AMB is fine but all top teams have a number one who is better than 'fine'.
There's no rush to get one this window but in the summer this should be one of our top priorities.
100% agree. Would go begging for a loan keeper from PL club. Bolton had Trafford last season, Beadle at Oxford.
AMB is learning his trade, he is part of a suspect defence and I would question how he is being coached. Any ball played around his six yard area, he automatically retreats to his goal line, has done that so many times this season and none of it is coincidental. His goalkeeping coach is either not confident in his decision making when coming for crosses or he believes, wrongly, that his strength in shot stopping will get him out of trouble, it won't. He doesn't talk to his back four but that will come in time with greater experience.

Some views; https://forum.thefishy.co.uk/Blah.pl?m-1705488398/
He's also got some nice footage on the old YouTube highlights, of course isn't always a measure of how good a player is but gives you an idea.
Anyway the reason I mentioned him is it might move Collins along..
Either way I agree we're good at the back of the midfield it's the front of the midfield and WB where we need reinforcements
So LWB and big striker are my priorities.
