What evidence is there that he has lost the dressing room? I hate these throwaway comments, the sort of comments that lead to ' no smoke without fire' scenario. Why would so many players who have played with Appleton have joined us. Do I think he will go-yes, do I want him to be our long term manager-no, but making stuff up is unacceptable.
Alfie May's reaction after the final whistle on Saturday - maybe a little circumstantial and not evidence of the entire dressing room, but having your top scorer and talisman react that way I feel is an indicator that all isn't well.

Wasn't there, so maybe i'm on the wrong track but from what I recall there was suggestions he was seen saying not only "that was fucking shit" something about being "soft" and saying something along the lines of "he's gone" It's all a bit open to interpretation I guess - could be bad/incorrect lip reading or making something out of nothing I suppose .
You also have other factors in that dressing room right now though- a captain who won't sign a contract for whatever reason, looking at his options right now - your talisman striker losing the plot at the end of the game (regardless of what was said, also probably should have been sent off) your top assist maker and second highest scorer on his way out of the door - thats your leaders on the pitch - then you have players going into a new formation with not everyone seemingly understanding their assignments and making silly errors week after week - the younger players, not to mention the new boys coming in must be looking around thinking what the hell is this?
Now these factors are of course not all down to the manager, but displaying leadership and control on the sidelines absolutely is. Standing on the sidelines with hands in pockets seemingly not even reacting, no encouragement, a word in the ear of a player who needs a bit of direction - that is not displaying any leadership or control - he can say he is not a "performing seal" or whatever, but the fact is it's not just the fans that are seeing him in that light - the players are as well. But he is just going to stubbornly continue because it's "his way or no way" or whatever.
I honestly wouldn't blame any of the players at all for losing confidence in his ability to lead in that scenario.

I’m clutching at straws a little and think surely it would have been easier to say yes so based on that I’d be amazed if he is there taking training/in charge tomorrow.

Large, I think certain posters have lost credibility. You can only deal with facts, Appleton took training, Appleton attended the press conference. With both of those facts established, both events do not sound like he was packing his bags in a hurry. I didn't think he was the right appointment but I have no faith that the owners will replace him with anyone better. For me his selection of the team on Saturday worried me to the point of my not being convinced he is able sort the defensive side of the team out, even with the forwards missing he should have been able to stem the tide of goals conceded. He's not my choice but some posters do their argument to get rid a disservice by a series of falsehoods.

This!!! Scott is very much to blame in my opinion. But as with many fans I would love to tell MA what I think of the job he is doing at our club to his face. I would like to let him know how lucky he has been to have this job and tell him how much this club means to so many people. Perfomances like the second half on Saturday are just not acceptable. It is humiliating following Charlton at the moment.
