I think it’s been clear that the squad lacks leaders on the pitch, never mind the age profile. Has that been addressed with these signings, does anyone think?
Imagine how many leaders we'd have in our squad if we'd waited another few years for Peter Varney to finally put a successful takeover together 😍

Proper Charlton’s profile is hidden - wonder why ? Wouldn’t be surprised if its a Methven PR hireling here to counter & push back against genuine disatisfaction against the Methven & his dubious strategy.
😂😂😂😂😂
Get a grip you melt. I've posted over 2000 times and been a member since Jan 2020 all to support Methven... Good one.
Is that the worst transfer window ever? So many unknowns and inexperienced players? How will they all play in a toxic Valley with under 6k inside as we get tonked at home to Burton et al?

Would've liked to see Ladapo sign but i think overall:
Isted, Edun, Hector, Jones, Abankwah, Watson x2, Camara, Taylor, Chem Campbell, Tedic, May as well as the emergence of Anderson and Asiimwe isn't a bad window. 14 additions to the 1st team squad.
We didn't lose anyone that we would've wanted to keep (Dobson, CBT, Leaburn etc).
And we've got rid of Wollacott, Egbo, Lavelle, Inniss, Gilbey, Clare, Morgan, DJ, Payne, 9 outgoings, none of whom anyone was really that sorry to lose. So we can't really complain at that.
A lot of them will have to hit the ground running of course, but it's probably a blessing the Wigan game has been postponed as that will give them more time on the training ground to get used to each other. Need a new manager in by early next week without a doubt though.
Because I see footballers as human beings and not just commodities I feel both sorry for Charlton fans/critics but also for Charlie and his partner as it just hasn't worked out for him at Charlton and even if we took a hit on Kirk couldn't we loan him back to Crewe if no loan takers in League 1 even if we have to pay most of the wages ?

I know this makes me boring or whatever but I wish we could just sign players and announce them without the fucking banter bus getting fired up every time. Oh, we've signed a 22 year old reserve left back from Bradford, let's stick his face on that scene from Face/Off with the doves, everyone will love it. Why? I dunno, Burnley did it once and people seemed to click on that a lot. I find it uniquely, disproportionately annoying

If you’re calling Hector an addition, you need to add him to to the list of “got rid of” too

Have you considered not making The Valley toxic? It might help

For me it just sums up the modern game and ties in with how overrated the average player is. I was lucky to grow up in my early teens watching the Curbs era and the level of player for me, back then, was miles better than today. I don’t care if people say the games changed or the speed of the game has increased….

Shut up with this shit. It does my fucking head in. It doesn’t even make sense.
Yes, we need to sign players, but ideally they would be good enough.
Let me give you an example: ‘Sign a striker’ *Club signs Bonne*
‘No. Not that one.’ What’s the problem?
If it was ‘Sign ANY striker. No not that one’ you might have a point.
We all know Bonne is shit. Poor example. Most on here, like me will have never seen some of these players play, possibly never heard of them. Because they’re not household names, they’re already shit! If they’re shite they’re shite. I for one won’t judge until they’ve had a good few games.
They might never "have a good few games"
That's the issue
A bunch of unproven, inexperienced young players will not enable our own unproven, inexperienced young players to force our way into the Top 6.
That's the issue. Oh, plus we've spent about 25p and a packet of polos.....
such a negative spin it’s a joke, I wonder why some of you even bother with Charlton.
SPIN ???!
Methven uses SPIN
I am within my rights to point out the bleeding obvious. You may be happy with getting worse season on season.
We were promised money would be spent. Boasts of "Billionaires" and a desire that CAFC only makes sense in the upper half of the Championship.
Do you think ANY of their actions add up to supporting their claims currently?
I don't.
But sit there praying for a miracle if you like.
Can you find me where Methven said money would be spent ? ( some has clearly ) but I’d also like to read that.. I remember him saying we’d be run sensibly with a good senior management team. That’s what a lot of people wanted, we’ve signed good players now we have to wait and see what they can do once we get a manager in and a few players back fit.
You’re right, according to his sales doc his plan is to slash costs by £7-8m and gain promotion. Cloud cuckoo but he’ll spin it out until we all realise we’ve been done over. I mean step back for a moment. The worst start to a season for decades, the first team to sack their manager this season and signed a load of young players with a handful of senior games between them. I know it’s hard to admit things are going so badly wrong so early and hope is already fading of promotion but don’t sugar coat it. Friends who support other teams are messaging me saying WTF. I think we need to wake up to reality.
WHAT SALES DOC
The one that’s been seen by trusted people who care for this club. I know it’s easier to discredit it rather than wake up to the fact that this lot are no good for us. I know we don’t deserve this bad luck but don’t attack the people who care about this club.
But if it's that bad and the people care for the club that much, they have to share it. If no-one shares it, there's no point referring to it, you may as well refer to the zodiac signs or tarot cards, or a mischievous little green leprechaun that only you can see and hear, for all it's worth.
Because the person who shared it with the people who are Charlton through and through didn’t want to reveal who leaked it. It’s fine, put your fingers in your ears and carry on shouting I don’t want to hear bad news. When people get scammed they will do anything but admit that they were taken in by it all.
Bullshit, I've not been scammed by anyone, and if anything I'm asking to be in on the supposed bad news by demanding that the sales doc be out in public.
You haven't seen what is in this document either so you're literally just taking someone else's word for it anyway, maybe you've been taken in by someone with an agenda, who knows?
Wow, are you really calling into question Airman who fought for this club to return to Valley. This reminds me of when Southall first took over and people didn’t want to hear what was common knowledge within the football community, that they were wrong uns.
So because of the past, they can't have an agenda now?
I've said time and again I respect what Airman did for the club, but I cannot hide the fact that I think people have wanted to besmirch this ownership group before they got in the door, and having close links to rival bids for the club, leads me to question the motives.
What links does Cardinal Sin have to rival bids? How did we know that Leneghan was involved before he turned up?
it’s been explained multiple times why no documents have been shared, but how is it going do you think? Do we have multiple small shareholders? What is the plan?
When people show you who they are it’s a good idea to believe them. Methven that to a TV audience of his own volition. He’s been doing it here since last December. It’s playing out on real time. Worst start in 33 years. Chosen manager sacked after five games.
Ask Curbs, Brownie or Powell about the squad. What’s so hard to understand?
Was having a really undercooked, half fit and massively lack in several key areas squad in the document as well? Or did that happen at Sunderland?
Methven never sacked a manager inside 30 games at Sunderland either.
Do you think they intended it to be the worst start in 33 years?
Obviously "the plan" is to make some money but it seems a very funny way of going about it.
The end game might be malice but what we have seen so far is probably more incompetence or under/over estimation IMO.
This is my feeling as well. This is a pretty big squad, and again my concern is more how it comes together than the numbers therein. A big part of that is hiring a manager with a vision and way to get these players playing.
I have been anti-Methven and anti-Bremmer since the moment they were linked with the club. I became anti-Friedman when I found out he spends a lot of time at the Milken Institute. I do not trust them at all.
That being said, I think some of the complaints about transfer business are blown way out of proportion. It has been far from perfect, but we've brought some good players in this summer (how much of that was TS, how much of it was SE7 Partners I genuinely don't know). So yes, after fees for May and Taylor we're rounding out the squad with loans from higher up the pyramid. That's...pretty standard. Whether or not the likes of Watson, Tedic, and the Udinese fella whose name I haven't learned to spell yet are actually good enough is to be determined. But I don't think the flaw here is a lack of players, I think it's a question of "how do these players fit together?" And obviously, "who is going to coach them to play together?"
Also, the sacking Holden thing was a positive for me. He was their guy, but the results and performances were awful and they got rid of him. It's bold, it's risky, and it costs money, and they did it.
Maybe I'm just biased by the fact that I thought we would see asset stripping on day one, so like the fact that the copper wiring in the walls of The Valley hasn't been sold is a bonus for me.
I feel like this all distracts from what Methven said last week about the club losing 1-2m per year. Given that I believe the club has lost about 1m per month, where does he think that 10m is going to be made up? That is a freight train of unbelievability churning down the tracks we're all just hanging out on.
So yes, we can bicker about whether players coming in on loan from Manchester City and Udinese are good enough (it feels weird when you frame it like that, doesn't it?). But until we've seen them play a few games, it's hard to know.
I'm really happy that so many are so skeptical of ownership this time around. I think that's really good, and I wish we'd had more of that from the start with ESI and Sandgaard. Please don't lose that. I just think that skepticism is a little misplaced and out of sorts at the moment.

And if you're counting loan players as additions, then you also have to count the likes of Rak-Sakyi and Sessegnon as outgoings

Said what I see.
Looking forward to Andy Scott's interview summing up the transfer window.
I personally haven't got a clue about any of the signings so, which line shall I take, meltdown rant or quietly confident we'll stay up?
