It feels like every manager we had during our "banter era" has completely fallen off the radar since leaving. Has any of them gone on to achieve even a shred of success? Chris Powell made it into the England setup, which is a respectable move in footballing terms — but what about the rest? I suppose Jacko’s the only other one who’s managed to carve out any sort of name for himself.

Bowyer caught a very big Carp.
  • I suspect it wasn't a genuine rumour but in my opinion Luke Molyneux would be a decent signing . Quick , left footed with something to prove with a good pedigree having come through the Academy at Sunderland

As long as we also take on players experienced at the level he could be a good wildcard signing.

Think you meant this to go on the rumours thread mate? @Richard J

    Yes I did. Sorry
  • Decent bloke, but does seem much more suited to be the "good cop" coach/assistant than the main man.
  • Like others I think he is a better coach than manager

Loved SCP as a player and a manager at Charlton, and believe there is always a role for him at our club, but he wasn’t part of (a very successful) England set up because of his outstanding coaching skills. That said he played a very important pastoral role as well as a coaching role when it was required.

Karel Fraeye who many felt was a basket case at CAFC went on to great success with Lommel, a 2nd division Belgium side with preventing relegation and then promotion the next season.

Fraeye torn up the coaching Manual, and just told his players to run around a lot and play with a smile on their faces.

Many Charlton fans thought he was a Winker.

I don't think that's true, he was only there for 8 months and they were in the second division the whole time. He was sacked with them bottom of the league.
  • Karel Fraeye is the biggest joke in our history
  • Got a lot of time for Holden as a guy , probably a very good coach/No2 just not cut out as a number 1.
  • Les Reed for example has had a distinguished career as a coach and technical director, but wasn't cut out to be a manager,
