She is driving me nuts. Most commentators voice pitch goes up when something is about to happen in anticipation. She does it when the ball goes out for a friggin throw. Jeez.
Law 12 states: "A direct free-kick or penalty is awarded if a player commits any of the following offences… holds an opponent, impedes an opponent with contact…" - in this instance with straight arm, hand AND leg. If the question is "what was the defender trying to achieve" then the answer and subsequent penalty decision becomes obvious.
Defenders consistently refuse to even look at the ball when defending corners and free kicks and take the idea of being "touch tight" to a whole new and unacceptable level. It's only that we have become so used to them defending in that way (and Refs not being brave enough to give penalties) that we have become somewhat accepting of it. Of course, we have had "false dawns" before regarding this and it is up to officials to, worldwide, consistently come to that same decision for things to change overall.
- beat Argentina in a shocking result in their first match - lost to England in the quarter final
Saudi Arabia’s path makes it possible that they could meet England in a quarter final… 🧐
I still remember loving every minute of that cameroon performance, but man, they made some hideous challenges on the Argentines. Really should have been a few red cards, but everyone was happy as the favourites got beat.
I was at the game, was brilliant. There were red cards, Cameroon finished with 9 men but held on.

I swear Ochoa is a beast at World Cups then disappears for 4 years.
Not complaining... Just bizarre
