    2-0 down
I know but we sacked JJ prior to that game.
My point was, he is probably on a list and more likely to happen now, as they are prob getting knocked put of the playoffs.
    His title is coach btw..

My choice would be anyone who doesn't ever use the phrase "the football club".
Or ask that the players "buy into the philosophy of what we're trying to do here - at the football club" haha!

Are we really at the stage of waiting for applications and interviews.?
Thought he had someone lined up already?

If so, just shows how last minute decision on Jackson was.
It's really starting to look to me like this wasn't a planned thing and is the result ofa  conversation they have had on Monday. I.e, Jacko has not wanted it to be known until the season is over - partly for fear of a complete downing of tools - the amount of players that he doesn't want for next season. He's possibly even been limited with what he has told TS over the last few months. He's then gone on the phone Monday and said this is what we need to do - a la Chris Powell - and TS has said no, we're not bringing in 15 new players. He thinks our squad just needs a few additions, jacko probably thinks it needs 15. That is what i think has happened but know no more than anybody else - i really hope that isn't the case but the appointment and recruitment should tell us.
  • having said that, i've just been on the other thread and seen the player rumour thing re a new manager so maybe not but there again, maybe so, who knows, i don't  - renewed my season ticket today though - glutton for punishment - wake me up when the season starts, really bored of charlton atm

Aside from the fact that he has Cheltenham mid table in League One, which is impressive in itself, one of the things that has impressed me about Michael Duff in last year is his use of the loan market to source young, hungry and talented players.

Taylor Perry, Callum Wright, Mattie Pollock, Kyle Joseph, Aaron Ramsey, Kion Etete.

He, or someone in his staff, does a fantastic job of identifying young talent to bring in. I’d hope we’d be in a position to be able to look at permanents as well rather than just loans.
We attracted young, hungry talented loans.  Until we refused to pay the loan fees.
True but i doubt a club like Cheltenham are spending a fortune on loan fees though.

Has anyone mentioned Claus Jensen, done a pretty good job managing a small club in Denmark for the past two years, that may be near the limits of its potential and all the obvious connections. TS must know him - and he does like being popular.
That’s exactly what we need! Another club legend, untried at this level.
Although I expect you’re whooshing here?
Like Lee Bowyer and Chris Powell?
Was Bowyer ever a 'Club Legend'
After his racist antics after he left, more a
    Leg End.

And being caught out on dope testing as a yoof player.
Cannabis, ecstasy and packet. Can certainly testify that isn't performance enhancing just in case anyone was wondering...
Going back to around 1966/67 I’d say, an old pal of mine who had come up through the youth team and was playing regularly for the reserves (as it was then), came to grief with the club.
He went down to Brighton or Margate for a weekend away clubbing it with some pals from the Lewisham Mods scene.
    Biggest mistake of his life.
He swallowed some Doobs, Purple Hearts (SKF’s), I was never exactly sure of how the info got back to The Valley but sadly for him somehow it did.
Now this fella was clearly looking like he was going to make the grade all the way but he was history in seconds flat.
    How times have changed!

I think after the Adkins choice last time it won't be any on the bookies list this time either.
Our whelming is likely to be under rather than over in the main.
Don't mind being pleasantly surprised, but really can't see any amazing appointment happening.

  • Like everyone else, I don’t know who it’s going to be but got info that it definitely won’t be Hasslebaink.
Phew……rest easy on that one! 🥹

Know what you mean fenland but amazing can be amazingly good or amazingly bad. 🫣

Did TS say to somebody it will be two weeks, maybe waiting till after playoffs, Manning?
Manning or Warburton would be my preferred choice.
Both would be decent choices, but I can't honestly see either wanting to join Charlton unless they were out of a job and were short on options. Warburton would certainly want to be his own man and would not accept a role where his hands were tied with player recruitment. He would need a lot of convincing to drop down a league. The only reason Manning would come to us would be money, so that rules him out. If he leaves MK I would imagine his future would lie in the Championship in any case.

Beale might be prepared to drop to League 1 to give himself the opportunity to be a number one rather than a number two.

Please God, not Bowyer again! Nasty bit of work with terrible man-management skills.

  • I really thought sandgard would have the new manager in place by now. It’s not as if he didn’t know that he was going to sack jj some time ago. Being a business man he surely sees what a precious commodity time is

Very true. I think we will have a hint after the manager and then player recruitment, then a couple of months after the start of the season to see how things are progressing. Fingers crossed, TS needs to get it right this time or he will be pissing his money away again.

Why would Neil Lennon be a divisive decision?
No idea. We have had worse in charge

Unfortunately I think it'll take a lot to be worse than Fraeye or even Les Reed
  • Was at the Valley today.

No potential managers spotted but someone who has had success with Orient on Football Manager and with Newcastle on the ZX Spectrum has applied in writing.

I've put £20 on him getting the job.
That was me playing multi player soccer manager.  However, I used to play 0-10-0 formation and would usually win 6-5, 8-6 or 9-0.  Maybe it's the attacking football Thomas wants.

Perhaps the person he wants is still in a job and has to wait till end of season and there contract running down
