Apparently Warburton leaving QPR is also to do with a breakdown in relationship between him and DoF Les Ferdinand. Warburton was told to play U23 players but he chose to play more experienced players instead.
whoever is appointed, the tenure for managers like the tenure for players nowadays is pretty short term .. we need someone who can get us out of this division, someone who is VERY familiar with the players and methods used in the lower leagues .. when we're promoted then is the time to think about appointing a manager experienced at a higher level .. in other words, horses for courses
Really? How that does than pan out?
"Yes, thank you, Mr XXX. You've done a great job getting us out of League 1 in only a year or so. Now, fuck off."
Spoke to a friend of mine who is a season ticket holder at Rangers, he said this about Warburton:
"Good attacking football but no real plan B. If it wasn't working his plan B was do plan A better. Most fans didn't want him to leave when he did. Set out the team to be entertaining."
Has anyone mentioned Claus Jensen, done a pretty good job managing a small club in Denmark for the past two years, that may be near the limits of its potential and all the obvious connections. TS must know him - and he does like being popular.
That’s exactly what we need! Another club legend, untried at this level.
Although I expect you’re whooshing here?
Like Lee Bowyer and Chris Powell?
Yeah, Bowyer was a step up, but was learning the ropes and struggled at times, particularly with man management. CP did a great job. JJ was the fans choice, but struggled at times, as you’d expect.
All I’m saying is that we should probably chose a manager based on how good he is, not on whether he used to be a great player for Charlton.

Is our level above that of 6th in the Danish 2nd tier - after achieving promotion the previous season?

That stat about Wycome vs MK Dons is really odd but the style of football is chalk and cheese!
Honestly couldn't bear to watch us play the way Wycombe did against us - negative hoofball full of diving and cheating. It was just terrible to watch. MK Dons are entertaining, expansive, pressing, just much much nicer to watch.
Give me a bit of entertainment any day of the week otherwise we might as well resort to signing big fellas and playing like Cambridge did in the 80's and 90's and "hit the corner flag".
Cambridge were more than that. They could play it at the back, hit it to Dion Dublin or another, back to the pressing midfield in the last 3rd and also wide. They had another , Steve Claridge and also play it on the ground in that area.
Don't forget, John Beck gained two successful back to back promotions and then a 5th place in the Championship as it is now.
Everybody mocks Beck but who here would not take 3 years of success John Beck style.
Dublin went to Manchester United from there and Cambridge fell back. They sacked him in that next season . So nothing changes there today.
I don't think it's a case of 'hoofball' or not.
You have to find a method that works for the players you have inherited, or who you choose to sign. If that's 'hoofball', so be it.
But no single approach works indefinitely. In fact, flexibility is crucial ... often during a game. A single approach may work well for a time, but will eventually be countered (does that sound familiar?).
So, the top teams and the top coaches and managers exhibit flexibility, and they know when to change things around. Yes, you can have a 'preferred' style ... but to be wedded to a single approach will only get you so far. You will be found out sooner rather than later.
The natural consequence of this is to recruit players who are comfortable in different roles. Not to have a fixed way of playing and then expect players to fit into that system.
I dont know many managers over there but Ange Postecoglou from Melbourne Australia took on Glasgow Celtic last year, and has now been voted Scottish manager of the year.
I have an uncanny feeling in my water that ex Palarce CB Tony Popovich now manging Melbourne Victory and has taken them on i think 13 matches undefeated (unfortuately being a City supporter) Is a bolter to watch in future, Remember the name
A more realistic choice would have to be Powell or Curbs There seems something wrong with a London team ,run by a manager with a Northern accent .Dont worry Ange and Poppa have accents similar to Sarf London
Ange is a brilliant manager. His style and tactical knowledge is superb. He's had success pretty much everywhere he's gone, over many many years.
Popovich isn't in the same class, but a decent manager at A league level. Can't see TS's net casting that wide tbh.
Aussies sounding like us...?! 🤣🤣 I've been here nearly 30 years, and people wonder how I still speak with a London accent after all these years, and I tell them, I don't want to sound stupid!

I wont argue with my Aussie wife with that one Been here a few decades too, I think she has a bit of mine, and i av a bit of erz.Just love the round ball code, which is easy to get distracted from. here in the colonies
Who ever we appoint will be a gamble because the Charlton gig has so much baggage attached to it over quite a few years with punch drunk fans and a cynical fan base that need to stop protesting and enjoy the football; Impossible at the moment I do concur.
I can't see this happening but Curbs as mentor and a "director of football" working 30 odd hours a week with plenty of time off for golf days, with a young coach Michael Beale who at 40 really needs to stop just being an innovative coach and see if he can be head coach/ manager back where his football career started with a wise old head like Alan Lewellyn Curbishley to help with the daily issues of how to run a football club and give advise to MB on how to deal with media, owner etc which has never been Michael's remit up to now. Plus how to deal with the clowns behind you in the dug outs who know better than you despite never having set up a kids team let alone a third tier pro team.
Beale and Curbs as the dream team ? Just not sure that Thomas Sandgaard will buy into this but what a waste of Curbs experience which would be invaluable to Beale.
Beale won't need any advise on the various formations. The better the players the easier the job.
The better the players the easier the job ,could also have been said of J J

Like Lee Bowyer and Chris Powell?
Was Bowyer ever a 'Club Legend'
After his racist antics after he left, more a Leg End.
And being caught out on dope testing as a yoof player.
Cannabis, ecstasy and packet. Can certainly testify that isn't performance enhancing just in case anyone was wondering...
Is it possible Manning at MK is living off of Russell Martin’s good work there - a bit like Adkins with Bowyer here?
Yes, but the idea is their owner has a preferred style of play which in turn means he hires managers and the club sign players to fit that philosophy.
It should mean the club is more likely to succeed as they don’t have to drastically change their squad and playing style with each managerial change.
Liam Manning is head coach so I assume he doesn’t have full control over recruitment.
It’ll be interesting to see if TS appoints a manager or head coach. The title might come down to who Jackson’s replacement is. Warburton might expect manager while Beale might be happy with head coach.
Did TS say to somebody it will be two weeks, maybe waiting till after playoffs, Manning?
I am sure Manning would love the chance to watch us lump it to Stockley and Aneke......
In all seriousness we would need 20 new players of we went for someone like Manning. I honestly can't think of more than 2 or 3 that we have that would fit that style. Even our "better" players.
We have to start somewhere though. If it takes a new man a couple of seasons to get the personal right and implement his ethos then we’ll have to settle for that. You need to see some positives out of those two seasons. Progress.

This. I just want to be able to see some kind of vision and where we are going.
I would put up with a few seasons of just missing out on play-offs if it was obvious we were building a style and finding players to fill the gaps.
Even under Robinson I didn't mind so much, and probably would have kept him on longer, because it was obvious he was trying to find players to play a certain way.
At the moment we have nothing. Bowyer never really had a 'style' and same goes for Jackson. Just wanted good players and hoped that would solve our problems.
Aside from the fact that he has Cheltenham mid table in League One, which is impressive in itself, one of the things that has impressed me about Michael Duff in last year is his use of the loan market to source young, hungry and talented players.
He, or someone in his staff, does a fantastic job of identifying young talent to bring in. I’d hope we’d be in a position to be able to look at permanents as well rather than just loans.

We attracted young, hungry talented loans. Until we refused to pay the loan fees.

Problem is if you sack a manager every 6 months or so they are always living off the previous one.

Taylor Perry, Callum Wright, Mattie Pollock, Kyle Joseph, Aaron Ramsey, Kion Etete.
