  • a MASSIVE no thanks to Lennon
  • I’m going on record, if popcorn teeth Lemon gets the job I will not attend any games until he leaves, regardless of any potential success (as if)

MK Dons beat them twice in the league, finished loads of points ahead of them and almost went up automatically. The playoffs are a lottery. There's no point to make here. I know which of these teams I'd rather see Charlton play like - it's the style that has a hope in the Championship too
All true but there has to be a balance. I remember Poyet’s Brighton patiently passing the ball around when losing to Palace in the playoffs. In those games you may get to a point where you have to mix it up.

I also can’t see TS and our fanbase having the patience to allow us to develop a style of play like MK Dons which consistently wins games if it’ll take a couple of seasons to get there. Great getting a manager like that if it works fairly quickly but we’ve got players under contract that aren’t suited to such a possession focussed style.

For me there’s nothing wrong with being a team who will play an expansive passing game when possible but are capable of grinding out results by going more direct or defensive when required. Will MK Dons do that if it needed? No guarantee they’ll be up there next season if it means Twine and others are sold, or Manning moves on.
  • Are we really at the stage of waiting for applications and interviews.?
Thought he had someone lined up already?

If so, just shows how last minute decision on Jackson was.

While that stat is hilarious, MK Dons finished 6 points ahead of Wycombe, 1 point off automatics and 3 points off top, especially impressive considering they lost their manager right as the season started and didn't get the new guy in until the third league match. We're all worrying about not having enough time to bring players in the manager might want in May and Manning had to come in in mid-August and perform. I think Dons might have won the league with a full season but we'll never know. Next season will be an interesting indicator; Ainsworth's brand of miseryball had a run in the Championship last season and finished on 43 points, 2 points off the bottom team (who had a 12 point deduction). If MK Dons somehow win the Play-Offs then we would see if they'd make a better go of the Championship next season; not a lot of point going up if you're just going to go straight back down, as we've all learned.

That’s possible but it’s also quite possible that several people have been sounded out already but Sandgaard has rightly decided to wait and see who throws their hat into the ring. That makes perfect sense. No point in making a appointment when you don’t yet know the full list of possibilities.

We're at the point where Sandgaard's selection of interview panel members is arguably as important as the choice of Manager.

If he decides to go it alone, Heaven help us.  He is '0 for 2' to use US parlance.

So, who you gonna call, Thomas?

  • Sandgaard's comments since the announcement worry me. He's getting too involved in the running of the team.

Talking about high press & defensive blocks like he knows what he's talking about.

    It's a worrying sign.

The recruitment strategy worries me too. Don't think the manager has much say. I cant see the club progressing until he changes his approach & starts putting the team above his own ego

Why can't we just be a normal football club??
I got shouted down, laughed at and told I was talking shite when I said TS was too involved in the team a couple of months back.

The same happened when I said his wife was too involved as well, watch this space on that one.
Will Mrs Sandgaard be in charge of the vol-au-vents? Someone has to pick up the baton from Sue Parkes?
    Oh move on FFS!
  • Apparently Warburton leaving QPR is also to do with a breakdown in relationship between him and DoF Les Ferdinand. Warburton was told to play U23 players but he chose to play more experienced players instead.

Has anyone mentioned Claus Jensen, done a pretty good job managing a small club in Denmark for the past two years, that may be near the limits of its potential and all the obvious connections. TS must know him - and he does like being popular.
That’s exactly what we need! Another club legend, untried at this level.
Although I expect you’re whooshing here?

Spoke to a friend of mine who is a season ticket holder at Rangers, he said this about Warburton:

"Good attacking football but no real plan B. If it wasn't working his plan B was do plan A better. Most fans didn't want him to leave when he did. Set out the team to be entertaining."

Neither sound like what TS wants but he may still tick more boxes than most, attacking football being one of them.

I believe that’s the main reason.
  • Would Jensen, or any overseas based coach (or player) get a work permit now under post-Bxxxxx visa rules? Any good coaches/players in Rwanda?

  • whoever is appointed, the tenure for managers like the tenure for players nowadays is pretty short term .. we need someone who can get us out of this division, someone who is VERY familiar with the players and methods used in the lower leagues .. when we're promoted then is the time to think about appointing a manager experienced at a higher level .. in other words, horses for courses
Really?  How that does than pan out?

"Yes, thank you, Mr XXX.  You've done a great job getting us out of League 1 in only a year or so.  Now, fuck off."
  • FYI I know I am a busy c**t.
How is your old man doing?
He is good thanks mate. Still miserable!

Every fan would prefer us to play like MK Dons than Wycombe, but it's interesting to note that despite the vast difference in those stats, MK only finished 6 points above Wycombe, scored only 3 more goals (thanks to Plymouth's capitulation on the last day), and lost the same amount of games.
