got a lot to say about the stewarding and policing outside before the game - i'm normally in the ground a lot earlier but was later than normal due to my boys match - got there 20 minutes before kick off and got in 15 minutes after kick off - thousands missed kick off due to turnstile problems - the stewards, police and club officials were useless - will go into more detail in the week but the attitude of some of the stewards, club officials and police was piss poor and i won't be resting until they are 'f**ked right off from being involved in our matches again - 'you should have got here earlier' or 'you should have stayed at home' were quotes from the chief steward and the club official - the police were also brainless - about 1 person per minute were getting in and the gates should have been opened or turnstiles set to open - do they really think we would have all been queuing up without tickets - a complete lack of any leadership or anyone in authority giving a fuck and i am gonna get right on the case with this - got photo's of the 2 main useless pricks and will be making it my business to see they either learn from this or are shown the door. Absolute clowns,
Seemed to be a different security firm??
don't know - i don't normally take a lot of notice but i did today - the main cretinous steward removed himself from the scene when everybody turned on him but i think he needs outing - as does the club official who was actually probably more to blame - i've got him as well

The Clubs Director of Operations was manning a turnstile in the West Lower
was he? well, whoever was in charge in harvey gardens for the north and east stand turnstiles was shockingly useless and i'm on it
Sure was, 1st set of turnstiles at the North End of the stand  Seems really odd to have do that, especially when the stand was not at full capacity

Might be because the turnstiles do not work efficiently as they should (and indeed never have) since being installed in the summer of 2015.
  • I appreciate a lot of the focus is on the lack of forward power when either Washington & Stockley are out, and I know we had a pathetic start under Adkins and a lot of the team look much better now, but worth mentioning Gilbey and Lee have 3 goals between them this season from a combined 36 games.

Gilbey I know also recovered from Covid, so maybe you knock a few of those 17 off to be fair, but they’re hardly pulling up trees.  And they’re 2 of what I believe people think are our more capable, promotion winning players.

  • Lee and Gilbey both struggle with getting the ball under control around the penalty box and striking it cleanly. Their first touch is usually heavy which leads to them taking no more than a hopeful pot shot.

What a game to make a pitch invasion in as well! Away to a side two divisions below you!
He's a Instagram comedian, and he was in character at the match. Wasn't a Norwich fan for sure.
Are you referring to the idiot that ran on to the pitch after they scored?  He had been sitting in front of me in Block B of the Alan Curbishley Stand and spent most of his time trying to goad the Norwich fans who decided to ignore him.  I’ve no idea why he ran on to the pitch after they scored.  Perhaps he thought he could take on all 2,260 of them. One of his mates was recording it all on his phone.

    Back to the football.
Simple equation. They bought on 3 subs at half time. All 3 better than the ones that went off.
We made 3 subs at 70 mins. All 3 worse than the players that went off.
All our subs had to be made for fitness reasons. They made subs for tactical reasons.
Ditto our 4th sub (Kirk for Gilbey)
  • We won’t be scoring goals in Jan by the look of it.
    We couldn’t win without Lyle
    We can’t score without Stockley.

It’s like deja vu all over again.

A disappointing outcome but a very decent performance against a side who will, very probably, be only one division above us next season.

We were far better than them in the first half, with Leko spurning one near post chance and Lee and Gilbey also going close. Krull’s save from Gilbey’s shot was particularly jammy.

We started the second half really well but couldn’t score and Norwich came more into the game in the last 25 minutes, both in terms of midfield possession and Puki’s movement up front.

A game that could most certainly have gone either way and one I feel we would have won had Stockley and Washington been available, with no disrespect to Burstow, who led the line really well. We so nearly took it to extra time with Henderson’s free kick in injury time - probably our only decent set play of the game - leading to the header against the bar and the rebound being scooped over the bar.

We were generally sound defensively, with Ryan Inniss and Clare particularly impressive. If only we could have placed one corner or free-kick vaguely in the direction of the big man.

I felt we were a little under par in midfield. Dobson held things together well, although Gilbey had a quiet game and I thought Lee was slightly off it, although he did have a good shot in the first half and set up our best chance for Leko. His set pieces were poor and that is a aspect of the game that we really need to get to grips with.

Burstow did very well up top and he’ll have learned a lot against the square headed caveman Hanley and Kabak, who I believe was playing on loan to Liverpool last season.

A decent crowd and an entertaining game, which could so easily have gone our way. It was not to be but it was so much better than our previous tame capitulations in the competitions in recent years.

    Bring on the Monkey Hangers

We lost a close game that could’ve gone either way.
The players did the best they could and were not outplayed or humiliated.
I wish we had won, but can deal with that easily enough, a good value for money experience actually.
Great to see Innes back, and Pearce digs deep and finds something somewhere, Dobbo is maintaining a consistently good standard.
    Crewe next.
    Well said.
  • No complaints with the players we had available. Delighted for Burstow and like others, thought the likes of Innis, Dobson and Clare did not look out of place against superior standard players. Their Premiership form leaves a lot to be desired, but they had a lot of talent on show, particularly in the second half, so am very proud of our lads. I hope our forwards are back soon and would also like to know when JFC is likely back fit as we are missing an alternative option on set pieces at the moment.
  • JFC would provide good competition for Lee and Gilbs, but doubt this season now.

Does anyone know the latest on JFC?

Yeah, the lad who ran on the pitch is an insta/twitter comedian account. He was in character all day
  • Have to hold my hands up @DOUCHER

You were completely right about the attendance and opening of the north upper

Winnable game lost because of our attacking composure.

Norwich would not look out of place in League One and we would have beaten them with a better striker.
    Give it a rest ffs
He hasn't said anything wrong there. That game was there for the taking, and our inability to score is why we lost.
100% - stockley and washington play then i think we win that - burstow did well but is a work in progress and leko isn't really a striker - we have to buy at least one proper striker this window
I doubt Thomas will bring in any strikers this window. In fact I'd be surprised if the squad is 'strengthened' (better players in than we have now) during the window. This season is looking mid table which won't have Thomas reaching for the cheque book when the same players could be free in 5 months time.

I'm not knocking Thomas, quite the opposite, why waste money that could buy the same quality for less in the summer. It is next season that we should be planning for. Another player clearout, despite this being said, would not happen again, to which I interpret as he can't afford it (in his club spend budget) or doesn't wish to spend the money.

Better quality is needed to be top end this time next year, that cannot be argued. Can it?

We said the same last season.

I wonder if we will be saying the same next January too.

  • Really enjoyed that and was gutted thought we deserved the win.

Took my son to his first ever game so will always be a game I remember.
I was going to say keep the match ticket as as a souvenir, but it was probably on your phone
  • Enjoyed the game, we pretty much totally outplayed them.
One goal was always going to win it and we lost because we are naive and incompetent in the final third.
It says something about our set pieces when the best delivery came from tour reserve goalie.
Now for a depressingly mediocre end to the league campaign
  • Davison looked the best of the forwards on show with his cameo, a much improved performance from him but sort your wanky Barnet out ffs fiddling with his head/hair/Alice band or whatever the fuck it is
I’ve not seen much of Burstow and I was on a moody feed yesterday that cut out every so often yesterday but he’s looked raw with a very inconsistent touch on the limited I’ve seen so far and I just hope he improves because he is nowhere near ready for a starting berth for a team with promotion aspirations (one day maybe)
  • @killerandflash Turnpike in Welling. Then jumped the bus from outside
  • We gave them a good game and I’d say we were a bit unlucky generally. Can’t fault the effort and some very decent performances along the way. Enjoyed it even though we lost.
Good fun . Smith was defo concerned until the final whistle. That says it all..
