gutted to lose that, Norwich are naff and were there for the taking, Stockley or Washington would have punished them. hitting the bar at the end almost makes it feel worse.

Hope we can pick up another striker, though I thought Burstow was decent, I'm not sure he's ready yet. Davison caused them a few issues but as a team we'd run out of energy and couldn't keep the pressure up in their half.
  • Two strikers a proper goal scoring midfielder along with a right back and we can easily go up next year
was obvious to see out there what we needed
end of year goodbye to Gunter Watson Pearce souare Davidson leko and fill the gaps

  • Entertaining and very appropriately the fans appreciated all the efforts on the pitch especially with the key strikers missing. Thought Mason Burstow did ever so well and inniss (what a performance). Thought everyone did well including Davison. Roll on Wednesday.
I feel completely at odds with everyone about Mason today. Can’t believe the 7, 7.5 scores. I thought he worked really hard but looked well out of his depth, very much not ready yet. In fact our biggest problem today was the ineffectiveness of having him and Leko as a front pairing.

Not knocking him, think he’s got talent a great future, but thought today showed he’s nowhere near ready to be starting games yet.
It's the academy bump that every young player gets.

He was good first half, second half he was very wasteful and seemed like whenever he got the ball it was either a 20 yard shot miles wide or a pass to the opposition.

Personally, I think he is. He wasn’t quite good enough today in that he didn’t score and ran out of steam but he was playing against PL defenders and one of them was lightening quick TBF. I’d start him midweek with Davison as his wingman if both Washington and Stockley are both unavailable still
  • Proud of the team, didn't realise that Washington was out as well as Stockley. Was then quite negative about how we'd do but pleasantly surprised. We deserved extra time imo.

Lee was his usual self, utterly frustrating, 20% chance of a good set-piece. Why he gets sung about all the time is beyond me. Did the small stuff well as usual, the less said about the end the better. He's just not very good but on balance he still has to be in the team.

Leko was also his usual self, headless chicken, lazy at times, greedy, poor decisions. Hopefully we can get rid after this season.

The defence were brilliant in general I thought - especially Clare, Innis and Pearce.

Dobson was excellent getting really stuck in and Gilbey worked really hard.

Think we would have won with Washington and Stockley up front.

Mention for Burstow who is raw and needs to toughen a bit but gave a good account of himself.

All in all a decent showing, but maybe Henderson can teach Lee how to take a decent set-piece (and DJ how to cross the ball.)

As said above have faith in JJ as long as he's backed properly and we get some decent depth.
  • People still think Burstow is better than Davison? Armchair managers quiet today

could say the same for his 'strike' partner, well at least in that forward position.
  • Ps. Fair play to all those who turned out. 11.6k home fans was a decent turnout for us at this point in time and the busiest it’s been behind the East this season.
  • Enjoyed the game but a predictable feeling kicked in once started to see the issues that Pukki's movement was causing. A few observations:

    - We defend our own bloody attacks. This is more than frustrating, as quite damaging to our results now. Corners and throw-ins either end up being booted out to touch, miscontrolled, leading to a foul or throw in or sometimes find a pathway back to our goalkeeper. In fact we lost the Wycombe game from a move that stemmed from a set piece.

    - Henderson is a good goalie and much better in a game than he is in a warm-up, that's for sure! He can also kick both footed and quite a bit further than McG.

    - Pressing and work rate aside, I feel Shinnie might have had more quality than Lee in this role as his set pieces, direct assists and shooting could all impact a game. Such a shame we were so quick to freeze him out. Lee and Gilbey really have to contribute more to our goal tally. Lee seems to miss the target with most attempts and Gilbs takes a heavy touch then usually peerolls it through to the keeper.

    - If we had a penalty in the final minute, would you feel comfortable that any of Leko, Lee, Gilbey, Clare, Davison, etc would score. I certainly would not.

    - Innis is fascinating to watch. A brawler who can play with the ball too. Lets cut out the obvious goal kicks aiming for a CB on the left touchline. We've got our CBs back now. Just no forwards! Good ol' Charlton.

  • Piss poor the JJ roll left as he was appointed .
    Thomas we trust
  • Until Norwich put on Pukki, they never looked like scoring, and that’s with over £10m worth of players upfront.

We are short upfront, but nothing new, but we weren’t outclassed by a team who will be top two in Championship next season
  • Where do I start trying to dissect that ?

We all know where the problem lies & the club has just over 3 weeks to sort it out. I've banged on for far too long about our problems up front but now it it there for all to see. Third 1-0 defeat on the trot & so we cant really be blaming the defence. Thought Innis had a great game as did Dobson. Just read what Jackson thought about the game so surely he should be putting pressure on Sandgaard to bring in some re-inforcements. We shouldn't be in danger of the drop, but being only 6 points from 4th bottom means we could be in for a tricky few months.

As for Norwich & the game in general  - they look a poor side & I've seen a lot better in League1. Thought we deserved at least a draw but if you dont score you wont win. It's as simple as that. And its not just the strikers as our midfield dont chip in with any either. And as for our set pieces......its getting beyond a joke now.

This team is going nowhere until proper investment and/or changes are made.
  • Frustrating but that is what higher division sides do to you.

But it showed were not that far off especially as we missed Famewo, Stockley and Washington as well as Lavelle.

Innis was very good, Dobson excellent other than the three times he overplayed in our own third. Pearce was strong but missed Innis when the latter went off.

Lee gets more frustrating every game with his set piece non-delivery. Can't afford to waste so many opportunities despite his other work.

Burstow didn't look out if place but him and Leko isn't a good combination.

    Met Ben Jay 👍

Huge queues in Harvey Gardens but none at all in Lansdowne Mews.

    On to Crewe.

He’s on loan so will be returning to Birmingham at the end of the season.

Shame we can’t bring JJ on just for set pieces, which makes you wonder why we aren’t better considering he’s in charge, would have thought he’d be quite hot on the subject.

Pretty decent performance but we were a bit powder-puff in front of goal. The subs killed us, although I understand why they were made. A plucky effort but this was a woeful Norwich team that beat us today.

Like to see him sent back to Brum a s a p .. to make room and save some cash towards a permanent replacement .. just don't ask who

That was exactly my view mate.
  • Thought we played ok today, they were poor and there for taking, Puki perhaps the sole bit of quality in there ranks.

We just ran out of steam and had little to add from the bench.

My take away is they are a Championship side with 1-2 Premier League players, we are a league 1 side with 4-5 Championship players.

Good support from them, albeit nothing else to do up there, good  support from us.

    Onto Crewe and Cheltenham.

  • We’ve definitely played better teams in L1 this season than what Norwich put out today (and also played better ourselves).
  • Those Norwich fans.  FFS.  They do know we are in L1 don't they?
Nicest fans in all of football apparently….

A good performance against 'some' players that play against Premier League opposition each week (and lose). It shows what we (and Jacko) already knew, that we can defend well, but can't score enough, to win enough games to be top 6.

Thomas must be wondering why he got into football club ownership. Its a money pit and even If he dumps 10x £m's there is still no guarantee of success.

Back to the league (until the pizza cup) and see how close to the playoffs we can get, come May!

  • Not sure why people are trying to meticulously define Norwich's status as a Championship team in the PL or vice versa. It doesn't really have much significance.

They were surprisingly aggressive at the station afterwards. Genuinely surprised at it tbh, although I know there is a bit of history with us.
