Robinson is going to a side near the bottom of the second division .. presumably he has been offered a very lucrative contract and a regular wicket keeper role, whereas at Kent he was one of a host of potential keepers .. he will be sorely missed

Kent's bonus points this year have been poor, otherwise based on wins we'd be in 5th or 6th.

Indeed aren't our bonus points ALWAYS relatively poor, for example we so often seem to score more runs in the second innings than the first.

How did they pull off 3 wins when they averaged lower than 2 bowling points per match - taking only 7.5 wickets in 110 first innings overs

On the way back from Trent Bridge last week someone told me that Ollie Robinson would be leaving. However the other Ollie Robinson the England bowler would be coming back to Kent. He comes from Margate .

That reminds me of when Big Ron Atkinson (at Coventry) bought a player called Paul Williams and sold a player with the same name, in the same summer. Neither our Paul Williams either! 

Would the Sussex Ollie Robinson actually play much county cricket? I can see Kent being a step up - Sussex are very weak at the moment - but an odd one.

I was told both of those months ago. The other Robinson coming back would be pretty meaningless as he is in the England squad and they won't release him for many games anyway. His father is a Kent League Umpire but his step dad is, of course, Paul Farbrace, who has now left Warwickshire because he wanted to move back home with Robinson's Mum. Had we not won the Royal London, Walker might well have been sacked and Farbrace re-appointed as Kent coach.

Probably heard that from you then! wasn’t sure where it was I heard it ! Reckon us winning that royal London trophy is enough to save Walker his job? Simon cook took charge for all but the final didn’t he

I believe that I mentioned it but didn't give much value to it as it wasn't from a proven source. As for Walker, I don't know whether he is safe or not but I believe that winning the Blast last season probably saved him then. By the way, he is an Addick and his son, Charlie, having been released by Gillingham, is playing in the States. He's a keeper and the surprise is that he is tall enough to be one given his father's stamp.

It will be interesting if the Surrey duo Pope and Foakes play again.

He probably said or the ECB dictated that he would play in one of the two but not both and as the Somerset game was easier on paper that was the one they mutually agreed that was the one that he would. Had we lost the Hants game and Warwickshire won then we would have been virtually down going into this final game (Warwickshire would only have needed a maximum of 3 points) in which case Crawley might not have played at all.

Pope and Foakes rested now we have won the title. 

Interesting that in an interview Pope said he specifically went to the England setup and requested to play for Surrey when the plan was originally for him to have a rest. Not sure if Crawley did the same.

Pope and Foakes rested now we have won the title.

I doubt that he did because I can't see us turning down the opportunity of the England opener playing for us but, as I say, there might have been an agreement that he would play in one of the final two games
