Sandgaard interviewing other managers

It is a good point about the half season tickets, especially with Christmas coming up and the potential for some to be bought as presents. The club could be working on a promotion that ties in with JJ being given the job.0

We are missing fit CB's at the back and we are short on strikers up front but we are going to win our next two away games !
I expect JJ to tell that to the players but let's see who is fit to play because our squad is getting very stretched as per usual.0 -

There is an element of risk as there always is but at the moment he is on the right side of that in my view and we of course have no idea what is being said behind the scenes. Jacko won't go anywhere unless he doesn't get the top job and in the meantime he's created a wave of optimism and a siege mentality in the squad which seems to have led to complete unity.
We needed an absolute miracle for this season to go anywhere remotely positive just a few weeks ago. At the moment, collectively a miracle is starting to be delivered.
Sandgaard is not stupid. This will end in Jacko getting the job. It's just brinkmanship first to push this buzz as far as it can go to try to make up for the abhorrent summer and autumn. All depends on when Sandgaard decides he's squeezed out every last drop and in the meantime, there is no downside.
We need to keep up this relentless push until Christmas to be in and amongst it imo.
The uncertainty of Jackson's future appears to be pushing the players to extraordinary levels of endeavour. They want him to get the job and are leaving it all on the pitch as their way if letting those who need to know,.know
Quite how long you can keep this up for I'm not sure? But I understand the rhetoric.
5 league games remaining before Christmas.
I personally think Ipswich on 7th December will be his first league game as permanent manager. The cup week gives us a partial international break feel (although there are two fixtures) - that feels the right time to push forward and by that time he's had 7 league games. However, Sandgaard might well roll the dice again and think the pre-appointment buzz is still greater than the appointment buzz for the Ipswich game which is our biggest in the next month.0 -
We all think that just because we see individual interviews with JJ and TS, that they don't talk and have not set their own milestones.

I'm hoping that TS is planning on interviewing a bunch of people and then when he announces JJ, he can say something like "we interviewed a lot of high profile and experienced managers, but Jacko was head and shoulders above them all. I knew JJ was the man, but wanted him to know how highly he rates amongst his competition"4

Sandgaard decided to hold off pulling the trigger and he's hoping JJ can claw back some of the extra points we lost during that time due to his hesitancy. So I think it's fair to say Jacko has passed the initial trial with flying colours and TS is just trying to squeeze a bit more out of this momentum to clear up a bit more of the mess he made of keeping Adkins. Harsh on Jacko but I'd go as far to say he could lose one of the next two and still get the gig.
So I'd say you're bang in with the 7th December

Seems pretty certain that the reports of JFH being actively interested in the job are true and I do wonder what Burton Albion fans make of it. Now I’m sure the majority would accept that CAFC are a bigger club and a step up for JFH but him touting himself is quite another thing.0

Hiring JFH over Jackson would be Meire/Roland levels of insanity. Sandgaard may be a little eccentric, but he hasn't done anything to suggest that he'd be mental enough to pull off something like that.

Just heard Neil Harris and Jimmy Floyd have been spotted together shopping in a soft furnishings shop in eltham :-(24

I think most Addicks, now have got the measure of Thomas, that he's a good guy but has an inflated egg his Linkedin Profile has him first as a Rock musician? this sadly he isn't, he is a successful US based business man who decided to buy an English team, looked at 4 clubs and picked us !What is such a shame is that it appears he is getting his advise from a certain Ged Roddy who isn't qualified to, as X director of Sport at Bath Uni for 20yrs, a role with Premier League & Academy manager at Reading FC?Where are the wise men at Charlton to speak out and advise Thomas that Jacko is the man for the job and if he wants to look to see who else is available and do his due diligence, keep quiet about it. Please Thomas get a CEO to take the flak, advise and help adapt Thomas to the rough and tumble of English football. Thomas has credit in the bank still, even after the debacle of Adkins but what a terrible misjudgement to say that Jacko could go back to being a number two. Surely someone at club or an X Player or manager has the balls to advises him to sign Jacko up, Thomas please think hard before you speak to the press or play that awful track again after a victory.
He gave me the thumbs up 👍0 -

No one wants to be ridiculed and Sandgaard must know he'll quickly become a laughing stock if he dismisses JJ and his new man falls flat on his face. I just can't see him risking his reputation like that regardless of how much he rates his favoured candidate (whoever that is).5

I had a fucking fantastic day on Saturday, the best for ages. If TS does not give JJ the job now I might actually stop going.4

back him in jan and let him bring in whoever he wants round him now in the coaching team and see how we go3 -

I'm now planning on getting a half season ticket and "coming home" for good, but if Jacko doesn't get this job my plans will change and I'll continue to find other ways to spend my Saturdays. I reckon there's a fair few like minded supporters that are just waiting to return too. For me it's just a case of knowing we have an owner I can trust to do the right thing when it comes to running this magnificent club of ours. Sure, not all of those that got free tickets yesterday have any interest in making it a regular thing, but hopefully it showed Thomas the potential of how great things can be here if the club is run right and we are treated as part of the club and not as customers. This all starts with the appointment of the next permanent manager and there is simply only one realistic option. So Thomas, please do the right thing so I can bloody come home...............9

Absolutely brilliant on Saturday.
Not been for a long time and could not believe how good we were.
It is clear that those players want to play for JJ/Euell and that is a big thing for managers these days, winning players over.
Not sure whether it's been posted on another thread but there's a great clip of JJ's post-match, dressing room address to the players.2 -
Just see Samissio Allerdiccio coming out the Ground. Maybe TS is going all continental -

I can see a reality where Jackson is moved on. It seems they want a head coach but Jackson is a manager, similar to Curbs or Bowyer. If Jackson gets the job, he’ll probably want more power than the board are willing to afford him and I don’t see that issue being resolved without the current system being abandoned.0

Sandgaard and his exec management team's previous management appointment turned out to be an absolute disaster.
Many of us (me included) thought it was solely down to poor player recruitment however Jackson's results have proved not so.
TS has lucked in with JJ as appointing him on the back of results is such a hard thing to criticise even if results fell off a cliff (highly illogical and unlikely) the minute pen was put to paper.
So much to lose not appointing him now particularly in light of the Adkins appointment.
JJ has given TS a gimme of an appointment and would be a highly risky and potentially significantly detrimental move to appointment anyone else at this stage.
Would be an illl advised gamble when so many in the game (fans, pundits, players, peers) are saying it's the right choice. Particularly when Adkins appointment in hindsight transpired to be catastrophic.
No idea why it is not Jackson's job yet and is concerning the longer it remains that way as we risk losing him for clubs that recognise his potential and the reaction he's got out of a perma- defeated set of players before he took over.0 -
I'm all for showing patience after firing someone but in Jacksons case he has said he wants the job, the biggest marker for me has been the complete 180 in player effort, application, intensity and crucially a pattern of play since Adkins went. Which is more than any new manager bounce.
We are in the incredibly fortunate position of having a squad of players who clearly want to play for Jacko and are not just giving platitudes they are showing it game after game against decent opposition.
If I were Jacko and someone else was given the job I think I'd be on my way first chance I got. And how would the new guy feel about having someone like Johnnie Jackson in his inner circle who he knows wants the job, it must be hard enough for new managers coming into clubs with stalwart players around let alone a club legend who is actively looking for the managers job, who the fans love and clearly the players too.
It would be totally different if we had scraped a couple of wins but the level of performance and good feeling at the club must be harnessed, I know as much as I think we have a lot of reactionary fans even if/when we go on a bad run Jacko and the team won't be dealing with a toxic atmosphere
Besides all this a lot of other clubs will now be looking at our turnaround, performances and numbers and will be considering Jacko as their next appointment5 -
Sounds like space filler journalism from Cawley.
It says a few weeks ago regarding JFH. The conversation with Beale was also a few weeks ago.
makes sense they were sounding people out, just in case it was more of the same shit from the players with JJ in charge.2 -

NapaAddick said:I’ve said it before… there are no really good managers in the lower leagues. Thus JJ is as good as any and he has passed the interview. Although at the same time I will say our recent performance feels like a classic bounce to me. Remember how Ole Gunner won his first 5 and all the same chants of “Give him the job!” we’re heard?
Ole was the best person for Man United at the time and things were going well - Just like JJ is currently the best person for us. I believe he will be a good appointment for the long term.
The momentum of him in charge is well and truly on our side!
If I was to have a guess. I would say he will eventually be Charlton manager between a 2-6 year period.
Things might go wrong, and he gets replaced, or he shows some promise and gets an offer he maybe can't refuse from a bigger club.
It is his 1st job. It's anyone's guess and in football, anything is possible and it will be hard to predict with much accuracy.0 -
