GR was in charge of the EPPP for academies. So for a club who relies on it's academy as a revenue stream (rightly or wrongly, fact of life for us), wouldn't it be generally a good idea to put the man who "created Category 1 status"in charge of getting the club up to the required standards for that?
Whether he has helped that or not is another story? It would be a good question to find out how does GR fit onto the transfer committee and what is his experience of that role previously?
Nigel Adkins was quoted in the South London Press saying "At the end of the season I was hoping we’d get our team assembled very, very early and continue with the theme from last season – to have a settled side to work through the pre-season period, so that our patterns of play were established."
Why then was it decided to not do that early team building and development of the squad, and essentially to forfeit the first 5 games of the season? We missed the playoffs by 1 goal last year, now we are 11 points behind where we were last season. Why was this judged to be an acceptable way to proceed with the season?

To be fair re CBT the club didn’t rate him enough to give him a long deal (or even an option?) and are now ‘scrambling’ around trying to extend him, so maybe the ‘knowitalls’ can be forgiven?

Depends who you mean by the club. The manager obviously saw enough in his trial to play him in the first team, ahead of some very (relatively) expensive options.

That assumes it WAS decided, which I doubt. Certainly it went very wrong but through error and overconfidence not a deliberate choice.
