Nothing against Mason but now he has gone I simply wouldn’t play him ahead of Washington, Aneke, Leko, Stockley and even Kanu
Agree. We’ve got nothing to play for. Why should we?
Because Stockley is injured, Aneke we're not sure can do 90 minutes on a weekend and then midweek and will no doubt be suspended soon, Leko is average and Kanu hasn't made his debut yet.

After Wimbledon we play Bolton, Wigan, Oxford, MK Dons, Sheff Weds and Sunderland. A very tough run of games and we are by no means safe yet.
Outplayed and beat Pompey away last night without Burstow. And plenty of other teams under Jacko before he came into the squad.
  • Only let Burstow go there if they recall Gallagher from Palace.
I don't care what fee we got. Awful deal.
  • According to TS a large sell on fee as well.

But looked far worse when Leko came up front

An "awful deal". You don't know the details of the deal?

To me it sounded like Stockley is out for a while and TS refused to let us go the remaining part of the season with Washington and Aneke up top. We ensured Aneke deal was done ASAP, because Stockley is out injured. By letting Burstow stay it’s resolved our problem of not being able to get someone in ASAP. Sounds like we might see a free transfer come in up top at some point.

At the end of a game when the team is tired and we were under the cosh.

  • The deal happening on the last day when there are rumours that this have been ongoing for two weeks is crazy, why wasn't it sorted out last week so Mason could play at Portsmouth, or at least be on the bench ?
The fact we won is big credit too JJ and the coaching team who probably had short notice to change the team.

As soon as JR said there's no sign of Burstow in the video clip of the players at Pompey before the game I just felt gutted as despite the words of Thomas Sandgaard of turning down offers you knew that Chelsea had upped their offer because it a sign of power because scoring a few goals in League 1 or the Papa John's wouldn't normally seal a move to a team that recently spent nearly 100 million pounds (Russian people's money) on Lukaku.

A shit house of a football club is Chelsea.
When in Paris, Chelsea fans stopped the black guy getting on the tube, summed up their scum supporters.

I have never got over Scott Parker being unsettled when we were above them in the table and leaving late in the window to Chelsea.

Pleased that I have seen Cafc beat Chelsea on about 7 occasions, even though I never will again.

    Still feel gutted.
  • Thought Sandgaard's interview was very good. I really think he cares & will help the club succeed.

1 of the thing's I took from it is that I think Stockley is out long term
Just watched it on Twitter. I maybe criticise Sandgaard more than I should, perhaps I still have trust issues post-Roland, but that’s a very good, honest and detailed interview with the owner. Well worth a watch.

Gutted that we won't see Mason in the shirt for the long term but congratulations to him and his family on the move. Have to say that that the contribution from both Lee Amis and Sean Foley from the age of around 7 through to 15 should not go unrecognised as well as Welling and Maidstone. They spent a lot of time and their own money in supporting lads like Mason and others and also Lee was responsible AFAIK for getting the club to have a look at him before he left during the ESI debacle. Credit where credit is due. Undisclosed is a bit annoying though. In the words of Kiaran Macguire "Transparency Is Good"
    Dagenham & Amis sitting in a tree k i s s i n g  :disappointed:
Will Lee be submitting an invoice?

He knows Gallagher is still at Palace, and that's all he needs to know apparently :)

This - If we were battling for promotion by all means let's use him. We aren't.
Yep because playing someone before they are ready has always worked for us. Definition of insanity

I’m sure Amis more than made than his money back during days he was crawling up Southall’s arsehole.

Not sure I'm that pleased we have him back on loan for the rest of the season. I don't really see the point.
I get it, we had zero chance to get another back up striker in at the late time of day this deal was completed. Therefore having Mason available for the rest of the season is very sensible.
Moves like this don’t just happen on the last day. I’m fairly sure there would have been the ability to get a replacement in if that was what was wanted, but it was probably clear at an early stage the loan back was in everyone’s interests.

We may not have a choice, Chelsea may have written a clause into the deal saying he must get game time. I doubt they would stand for us letting him rot in the reserves
  • Lee left out the match day  squad then, or one of the not fit prem youngsters for now I guess.
Suspect it'll just be Lee or Nile John in the squad not both on a few occasions, which isn't really that much of an issue.
Or Lee does a Shinnie and signs a permanent deal outside of the window.
    More likely Famewo does.
Is Famewo also out of contract with his parent club at the end of this season? It was possible for Shinnie and would be for Lee for that reason. I can't imagine Norwich cancelling a contract that has 18+ months left to run.
Ah, I wasn't thinking about the transfer window, free transfer etc, just the option to buy.  As you were!

Brentford definitely tried to buy him nearly two weeks ago and Thomas coming out yesterday in an interview tells you they knew what was going to happen.

No football club in League 1 makes money.   You have to lose money to get promoted.  99.9% of the time.

If we / he (it's his money, so his choice) is not willing to lose money, we won't, I'm kind of sure, get out of this division.

I guess the club looked for replacements before selling (and loaning back) Mason but felt there was nobody available worth the investment.

I repeat though as earlier - Sunderland, Wigan, Portsmouth, Ipswich, Sheff Wed are all "big clubs" but I doubt more than one, maybe two, won't be in League 1 next year.

I don't need the biggest budget.  I just want us to play proper football, promote our youth and stop trying to put square pegs in round holes.

Only then MAY we have a realistic chance of promotion.

  • Anyone got a link to this TS interview?
  • Can't complain with the contents of that video
  • No but he does confirm they have had interest in Burstow for a few weeks.....

Normally maybe, but we did hold some cards in this one.

100%, I certainly get the feeling, especially after seeing the TS interview this deal was sealed well before last night. And MB tweet saying he is glad it is public tells me he had been sitting on it for a few days, not 12 hours.
