There was an absolutely astonishing one in the T20 between Pakistan and SA yesterday, with the Pakistani 3rd umpire clearly going very, very far out of his way to prove he wasn't showing any home bias
Thought stone bowled very well today and root looked much more effective than moeen

Apart from being the better keeper anyway, it's notable that Foakes brings a lot more energy to the field
Most keepers are hyperactive, sometimes irritating characters, encouraging the bowlers, annoying the batsmen, whereas Buttler is a bit silent out there

Yet Buttler is meant to be captain material... apparently. Although I think being great mates with root is all the qualifications you need for that.
So looks like Broad in for Anderson and one of Stone/Woakes to replace Jof.
Moeen for Bess is the right call.

Yet again both openers are out cheaply and Root is in earlier than the number 4 should be.
Burns has now scored 53 runs in his last 7 innings and 33 of those came in one of them. I did say that we needed to give Burns this and the next Test to get a score but he has still not cured that fundamental flaw that keeps getting him out. If Burns fails again in the second innings and Lawrence does well in either should the latter be dropped for Crawley? Because Crawley needs to come back in the next Test doesn't he?

India were favourites to win after winning the toss and batting first.
They are still clear favourites despite a spirited day by England.
3 spinners for India will be relentless.
