  • I reckon we'll sign the mysterious 'Jackson' from MK Dons. Curbs keep raving about him.
    Nah, his legs have gone.

Okay what did Aneke do right tonight?

If he were Bogle he'd be getting shit on. Not necessarily by you, but by the regulars.
    See above

I'm one of the few that actually think he did ok for us. He needed a bit of confidence and you can bet your bottom dollar that he will score goals once he has gone, probably against us lol

Hard to argue he's done well overall but he's certainly been decent in patches, and there are definitely valid arguments to be made as to why he's not been more of a success not being purely down to his own lack of ability or application. I would certainly say that he's been nowhere near as bad as some of the hyperbole on here and twitter would suggest.

With Aneke and Stockley around he's third choice in the target man role, so if we need to free up wages there are probably areas of the squad with less depth that the wages could be better spent on reinforcing. That being said, as I stated elsewhere on here, he ain't bad for a third choice at League 1 level and with Chuks so injury prone I'd ideally prefer to keep Bogle around as backup. It's been a persistent problem that we've had two players for every position but one of them is always injured meaning the other one has to play too many matches and will eventually break down themselves. We're constantly chasing our tails trying to get everyone fit and I worry that could happen with Chuks and Stockley if one of them goes out injured. I can't see a front two of Washington and Schwartz working well at all with no one to hold the ball up and bring the midfield into play.

I tend to agree with you about Omar Bogle.  Even when he was fouled by the keeper against Swindon he managed to scored but was pilloried because  he did .
Chuks missed a sitter against Swindon and nobody said a word against  him and it was a sitter .
You mention bogles goal against Swindon but what did he do 5 minutes later?

    all strikers miss chances, fact.

the reason that bogle gets criticised is because he misses lots of chances two score two goals. Snake scores often.
As I said he misses one and it ain't forgotten.  Aneke misses or does very little like tonight and you forgive him. I think you reinforce bias to suit your view. Bogle is not the best but he is not as bad as people on here think either  Aneke has to be stored in bubble wrap at the end of each game which is worrying.
The problem is he hasn’t missed one has he? Bristol rovers, remember that miss? Earlier in the season he was through on goal and turned back. Aneke misses chances because he gets in dangerous positions. Bogle wouldn’t have attacked the ball against Swindon or rochdale like Aneke did.

But aren’t you reinforcing bias for bogle to suit your view?

Aneke is being managed very well this season. Aneke didn’t have the greatest of games but he came on when we were camped in our own half.

He broke away once and was hacked. He also broke down the right late on, lost the ball, won it back and got us a throw to relieve the pressure.

what did Aneke do wrong tonight?

would you have bogle in the team ahead of Aneke.
Bowyer often had Bogle on before Aneke. He even said he wears CBS out for Aneke. I thought we lost something when Washington went off. That is another one whi gets slated. Tonight someone said on player markings , " What did Washington do apart from one cross". Silly statement.

As for what did Aneke do wrong..? It is more a matter of what little he did because  he isn't defensive minded or effective there.

Bogle was fine last game and I think he is a confidence player. Fans on his back is no good carping about everything.  He won the penalty at Gillingham  that Washington missed.

If he leaves he will do well.  Doncaster appesr torate him.and their team is better than ours. Strange that.
    Why bring Washington into this?
Do you disagree with the bit about Washington? He was comparing players that often get criticised no matter what they do.

Bogle and Washington both fall into that category.

We constantly hear how Wash isn't good enough yet every game he turns up, busts a gut and is a positive outlet for the team.

He's scored 7 and has 2 assists... That's not bad in half a season. He is beneficial to our game as shown by our game plan crumbling when he went off injured.
But the discussion was about Aneke and bogle. I asked questions on bogle and Aneke and the answer back was Washington.
You just want to make a scapegoat of a player.  I have seen this before only for players to leave have had lots of crap heaped on them only to play in higher divisions for much better teams.
Bogle isn’t a scape goat, he just isn’t very good.

the fact that bowyer wants to move him on  says it all. Bogle has scored 7 goals in 3 years, he will not go on and play and score at a higher level. He has played at a higher level and failed.

it’s a shame but he just isn’t very good at this level
  • I can understand people saying bogle is not up to it and not good enough but what I can’t understand is how people think Aneke is a world beater.
His the most inconsistent player I’ve ever seen I think. Did he even touch the ball last night
The last 2 games his come on as sub I don’t think his managed to get anywhere near most of our long balls out of deference. You need to a least challenge the defender. Bogle still done this  and was when he got dragged of early. But twice now Aneke has done it and nothing is said.
How people think his good enough to play in championship is beyond me.

Probably something to do with him being our top scorer with 10 goals with nearly half a season still to go...
And the best goals-to-minutes ratio in the league. Not exactly the mark of inconsistency...
  • About 5 days left to the window closes and we’re got two outgoing players in Smyth and Bogle. Imagine the important question is whether they release enough funds on the wage bill to allow us to bring another player in this window.
  • But he has got issues he can’t play 90 minutes and is inconsistent.he will control the ball one minute instantly the next 5 balls to him he can’t.
By the way we play in league one not championship.
like I say why all the praise for him l don’t get it.
Sorry his not all that league one is his level unless he becomes more consistent missed 2 sitters against Swindon if bogle had missed them he would have been slatted.

  • Thought Liam was outstanding last night, at both ends of the pitch.

Did concern me though if he picked up a knock / injury where the forward impetus would come from, could still do with a Liam mark 2 type of player, if the cap fits signing.
I'd like to see him played on the right more often, he is very one footed. I think he would cause damage from crosses
  • aneke is big, strong and mobile. Bogle is big strong and immobile.

anekes being mobile allows him to run at defenders which scares them. Not only does him running at goal create chances for himself, but also others. Schwartz v rochdale springs to mind. Snake running at defenders caused a hack last nigh. He also came back to help the defenders last night abs was carrying the ball forward when the whistle went.

bigle plays more back to goal which means the ball goes back rather than forward. The problem is that the ball often goes back to a different colour shirt. Bogle creates very few chances for himself or others in comparison to Aneke.

Bogle has only scored 20% of the goals that Aneke has. I’m not sure of the minutes played by both but I would it is relatively even.

Aneke looks like he will create or score most times he is on the pitch. Bogle doesn’t.

when bogle leaves, I will not lose sleep. He is another kandol, sodje and abbot. People defend him because he is a Charlton player and I get that, he just isn’t a very good Charlton player.

Hasn't Bogle scored as many league goals as the snake this season?
Bogle 2 goals in 17 games
Snake 4 goals in 25 games
Almost as good goals per game, especially when Bogle has been subed at half time twice and after half an hour once :-)

But it must be hard at big boy school if he can't mange 1 in 5.
    Bogle played 17 (started 12 of them) 2 goals in 856 mins = 1 goal every 428 mins= 1 goal every 4.75 games

    Taylor played 25 (started 13 of them) 4 goals in 1363 mins = 1 goal every 340 mins = 1 goal every 3.78 games
  • Why you still comparing bogle to Aneke. Bogle is going.
You need to compare Aneke to Stockley now   Stockley will replace bogle as scapegoat now because he won’t score as many goals. 😀
Really can’t understand why so many of you having orgasms Over Aneke.

Neither Bogle nor Aneke are naturally target men like say a Stockley.  Despite their physical appearance.  Chuks is a better target man than Bogle but that's still not his best position.  They would both look better playing with Stockley.  In fact there is no reason at all why you couldn't play all 3 together.
  • whats so funny about my post @Showmetheway2gohome?

What have I said that isnt true?  Do you honestly believe that Bogle is better than Aneke?

Wiki their stats.  Bogle scored lots of goals at national league North Level and then did well for Grimsby at national league and league 2 level.  Since he has left grimsby, his best scoring season is 4.  Yes, 4!! Our full backs have 4 between them this season.  " by a guy that made his first start in over 10 games!!!  Are you telling me that those stats are impressive?

Aneke by comparison has hit double figures 4 times at league one level.

Aneke isnt Jimmy Greaves but he is a very good league 1 player.  Bogle isnt even Robert Rosario and his stats suggest that non league/league 2 is his level.  Just because doncaster are reportedly interested, doesnt make him a good player
  • I’ve never said bogle is a better player than Aneke I’m saying why are you so in love with Aneke his a good league one striker I’ll give you but not very good.
Id say Taylor BWP Paul Walsh and Hales were very good league one strikers for us and good enough to play championship not Aneke
  • Oh forgot kermagant how could I
    worth a orgasm 🤪

Pure guesswork as Aneke not really had a chance. You cannot count last season as it was a write off for him. BWP was a goalscorer, one who scored roughly 30 goals in 150 games at Championship level (1 in 20 for us).

    I’ll give you this one.
  • Sorry if i've missed something on here, but my son keeps mentioning this geezer @ Exeter, any chance of getting him , i'm probably getting him mixed up with another player so will probably put the wrong name down, , is it Randell Williams?

  • Heres what i found on the web, (sound like a bot!)

Nope... Joe Randall - Dont expect anything to happen with it though

Bowyer and Gallen dont think he's worth the £1m yet on a handful of League Two games

Yes I agree with that, and in the middle occasionally
  • I like Aneke but for me, you could see Stockley is a cut above Chuks, he will be a very handy addition for us!
  • BWP probably last  player out my picks that I would choose but I would certainly put him before Aneke.
He certainly had a good career in mls
