I’d say there is a slight difference to thinking that something might be wrong with the official version of events surrounding the assassination of JFK than thinking the whole medical profession worldwide was some kind of bizarre wind up regarding the effectiveness and safety of vaccines, or that the world is being subjected to a mass spraying of chemicals from commercial airlines, which I’m sure you would be happy to ridicule.

There are some that play down just what an effect it had/is having. I see plenty of posts on social media calling Covid a hoax, disbelieving that Long Covid exists and that anyone having the vaccines are sheep. Also that Covid is just a cold when that is far from the truth, according to the hundreds of studies carried out across the world.

I haven't clicked the link, because I don't want to get sucked into a world of alternative facts and mind boggling conspiracies, but I am open to the basic premise that the covid enquiry might not have been money well spent.
Whilst I've no doubts that the people who run these enquiries are highly skilled and well intentioned, they just drag on for too long. That's why the government loves them, it buys time for public anger to calm down. There should be a very strict maximum time limit on these enquiries so that the key facts come out early (Pareto Princliple). In this case Baroness Hallett should have just written to Patrick Vallence and asked, 'Hey Pat, can we publish your diary'?
The main problem with these enquiries, and we're seeing the same thing with the Post Office enquiry, is that there is no consequence for the selective amnesia that all witnesses seem to suffer from. In an actual trial, jurors would be entitled to draw their own inference from the fact that a witness recalls with perfect clarity anything that aids them but totally denies any memory of anything harmful to their cause.

I think it’s vital that going forward there is a requirement for all ministers and company CEO’s, senior managers and legal representatives and probably others that they cannot lose, forget, delete or change phones, WhatsApp messages, text messages or e mails. Technology is a built in and excellent paper trail but only if the very dodgy and convenient lapses above are made illegal.
