Wolves left back was just completely play acting trying to buy a free kick.

It left his team completely exposed and cost them a goal... good!

I absolutely love it when that happens. If more refs didn't buy the acting then less of them would try it on

I really like Eddie Howe and the eloquent way he talks about football. Kept Bournemouth in the Premier League for 5 years and with a capacity of 11,500. Bournemouth made almost a £60m net profit on the sales of Ake, Wilson and Ramsdale.

Doesn't sound like he is gonna be back in management anytime soon

Have I missed something happening at Sheff Utd or is it just the second season syndrome. 1 point from a possible 27!

Batshuayi is a complete enigma. He's scored 21 goals in 32 games for Belgium but 13 in 65 in the PL - only 17 of those games are for Palace and whilst he was used a lot as a sub for Chelsea, it still doesn't explain the disparity.
I think you've kind of answered your own point.

For Chelsea he made 48 league appearances but he started only 5 of those. If you look at his record in cup games for Chelsea where he started most of them, he got 14 goals in 20 games.

For Palace last season, 5 goals in 9 league starts.

Also one major fact to consider is Belgium will dominate most games they play, and he likely played in qualifiers against a lot of shit teams, so you'd expect any striker for them to have a good record.

Strange that Chelsea spent £33m on a forward who regularly scores for the number one team in the world only gets to start 5 PL games in 4 years at the club.

The next question is how is it that a forward who has a record of 6 goals in his last 80 appearances is anywhere near the Premier League? I'm talking about Benteke of course. Most players improve over time but since the days of his 42 goals in 83 starts at Villa and his 20 in 42 in his first season at Palace he has gone so far backwards.

Eddie Howe's achievements at Bournemouth  are different class, not just going from League 2 to the Premier but playing some amazing football as those of us at the Valley for their Championship winning swansong know.

Eddie Howe after having a rest and getting to know his family again after years on the football treadmill, which takes over your life.
He will have to prove he can succeed somewhere away from Dorset.

Eddie didn't settle in Burnley and the couple of seasons up there were modest by his standards.

An intelligent and decent guy who will be at the crossroads of his career. Just checked and Howe is only 42 despite being a head coach/manager for 13 years !

Ps. Just saw the mail on line interview and confirming he will only go back into management for the right job.

Most out of work managers say that, they'll only take the right job, it's got to be the right fit for them etc

Danny Cowley was in the Quest studio on Saturday saying the same thing.

And is probably still saying it. Curbs had two issues though - he set his standards too high and also owners are reluctant to employ someone who might sue them when they, inevitably, part ways.

Agree with that, But I believe Howe means it.
The Burnley experience will probably put him off going North as I assume his two lads are settled in their school.

Unlike most of us, Ex premier managers or Championship managers of long standing don't have to rush into getting another Job.
Warnock and Pulis keep coming back for the adrenaline rush as much as the money.

If he doesn't want to move house from Bournemouth, then that drastically reduces the number of available jobs

The nature of football is that you generally have to move around, unless you live in football hotspots with lots of clubs like London or the North West.

Christmas fixtures are out and naturally clubs will start moaning about them.

Man City, Chelsea, Everton and Palace have the shortest recovery times, all four clubs face two matches in 48 hours.

Man United, Liverpool, Southampton and Arsenal all have more than 70 hours between games.

Then at the top end of the scale, Newcastle have 96 hours and Fulham get 99!

Thoroughly enjoyed Hodgson’s rant just now on Amazon about how possession stats mostly mean nothing to the result at end of the game. Told the interviewer that people on tv are gullible for spending so much time talking about possession.

Excellent result for Newcastle - didn't they win comfortably at SP last season as well.

I must admit, the quality in that Palarse squad is probably the best they've had, so pleasantly surprised by that result.

Really poor finishing from both sides throughout tonight (although a couple of decent saves from keepers), until the last 3 minutes.
