  • Not many ideas up top yet again. Reckon it'd do Magennis good to be dropped for a couple of games, was really poor today. Clarke didn't seem to be his usual self either, maybe it'll take some time for him to get back up to speed. Thought Aribo looked very good in the first half though.

Thought the BTTV 'celebrations' could've been done a bit better aswell. Crowd were all very up for it and all that seemed different was that we had an opera singer and some clappers.
  • So ironic... this is our first defeat at the Valley since MK Dons in April - Basically means that when we the fans ask for a little bit of effort they cant be arsed as thats both the PC Palmer and 25-year game they've bottled now
  • Too many off days but a couple of Pompey players looked a handful in this league, especially the left winger

Need to change tactics Karl as it’s not working at the moment
  • We’ll never beat Millwall.

We are fucking Rubbish. 20th game of the season and let's be honest , how many games have we been really good? I can't remember a home game I've come home where I thought fuck me what a performance . We've won games but scraped by, even won one of them 4-1 thanks to goals in the 91st and 94th minute. I'm certainly confused at the words of 'Robinsons got us playing really good' being sung. Has he? He doesn't know how to mix it up, he has one way of playing with no way of using a plan B , he signs a striker but brings him on with ten mins to go when 1-0 down?

Certainly wouldn't be too fussed if the Gobshite left tomorrow .

Too many players looking fatigued due to playing too many irrelevant games (Truro & Wimbledon cup). When we are losing we look to put everything through Holmes and he has become predictable . Not his fault for that but you'd expect him to be able to beat first man when taking a set piece.

I said on another thread this week that our season could quite quickly unfold and I'm certain it will. We have an owner who wont put his hand in his pocket unless its counting players he sells, a squad that is so thin we are relying on academy players with 20 or less career appearances each.

This is a pony league but I can't help but feel we are part of the reason it's pony , it's become all to predictable and boring now. A play off spot looks a long way if we continue to play how we have in the last couple of months.

Referee was shit , how he only added 3 mins on is beyond me. Their goalkeeper took the absolute piss with time wasting . The little shit lided prick.

Annoyed with my club beyond belief on what was supposedly meant to be a really good day.

Just to clarify mate I'm pretty sure you mean the team bottled it not the fans.
  • Can't believe I gave up the chance of a ride from Slack Alice from Crystal Palace for this shitty result.
  • Awful going forward and always likely to conced from a set play.

We continue to play with one forward who can't win a header, can't run and can't pass.

They had a manager who had clearly set out a game plan, we had a manager who continued to do the same thing as he has for every game.

Best we can hope for is a playoff place IMHO.

The ref was pathetic as well.

Yeah 100%... two occasions in two seasons we've wanted just a bit extra and they've done the opposite

Today the fans were brilliant from about 10mins prior to the game they didnt stop singing

Ref probably wants to get back into the warm for a cup of tea

    Edit; only joking @PeterGage

Yet Mark Marshall is supposed to be the best winger in the League!! - Sorry not convinced at the moment
  • Oh well hand shandy it is then.
  • Dross. However, at half time was thinking it could be a good team with a cutting edge.
  • My impression was that we deserved nothing despite having the lion's share of possession.

This was borne out by the BBC stats, we had more of the ball and more corners, but less shots. Hang on a minute, what was it Curbs said back in 92?

Others have already said it but a complete lack of cutting edge today. Their two centre halfs had Magennis in their pocket all game yet we still kept pumping it up to him. A lot of huff and puff, some periods of possession but ultimately coming to doodlysquat in terms of chances. They weren't all that either in fairness.

Shout out for the penalty save which might have been the only bit of quality from us in 90 mins.
  • Hats off to the Pompy fans throwing glass bottles and coins across the platform when there were only about 12 Charlton fans left on the Kent bound platform. Glass bottle smashed about a foot away from a disabled man and coins only just missed some kids.

    Classy.

Also well done to the old bill for just letting it carry on whilst concentrating 15 police officers on the 3 Charlton fans between 16-50 on the Kent bound platform. Definitely was important to film them rather than those throwing stuff.

    Fucking shambles.

I had to walk through a group of about 10 of them no older than 17, all pissed up singing about beating Southampton fans about the head with hammers, this was at Waterloo at midday!!!

    Stay classy Pompey.......

  • The other highlight of the day was meeting the one and only @bobmunro.

It was good to see @Addickted back at the Valley too

Piss off with your reasoning!! tables!! ;)
  • Broke my boycott, poor game, miss the old place, hurry up and sell Roland.

Never seen so many people drink beer in their seat in the upper north, thought the law had changed.
  • Neither side deserved to win,a poor game all round. We didnt look like scoring all game and in all fairness nor did pompey. Magennis and Holmes are Robbos love children, they must be. Both have been mediocre at best for weeks now yet start every game. Best looked sharp when he came on,time for him to start. Karlan Grant gets 3 in 3 yet doesnt warrant a league start. Top two is a distant memory and pretty soon the play offs will be too with the way we are performing. Time to start kicking and not licking arse Robbo.
  • Hope this is just a bump in the road right now. There are few teams charging up behind us right now who are showing consistent results We have to sort this Shambles out fast or will be left with too much to do Come the new year.
  • Think there are a few overreactions on here about the performance.

Yes the result was not what we needed yes we really wanted something to cheer about today. However, I don't think the performance was that bad. The boys all worked hard. Things didn't always come off for them but we dominated that game for large periods. Yes we allowed them in on a few occasions and yes they had periods in control but on the whole we dealt with them well.

The lino game a fk to us but the ref overruled and gave it to them despite being further away and with a blocked view.

The difference was their sub at half time. He played in the pockets between players and scared us whenever he made a run.

Magennis worked hard and didn't stop running. Unfortunately their defenders had decided after the goal to go down every time he won a header and the ref bought it. Holmes kept trying even though nothing came off for him.

With the caveat of we have players missing and players like Clarke on the way back from injury. I thought the performance was decent. There was fight and commitment from all.
But things just didn't fall for us leading to frustrations boiling over a few times.

Fans were excellent. Best atmosphere since one of the last large scale protest games. Nice to have a bit of a crowd walking back to the station. Ground felt a lot more full than it looks in photos I've seen.

Been like this for a while though.

It's one thing working hard but when KR insists on playing the exact same way even though it hasn't worked for the previous few weeks it's not gona work.

Scum mate. Every Pompey fan I encountered today seemed to be a prick
Yep agree with this. As the match went on, you could tell their fucking backwater of a Jeremy Kyle cast of 3000 weren’t like a proper away following you get from like a Sheff Utd or a Newcastle etc

They’re like a shit version of milllllll

Walking up Floyd road as we joined them you could tell they were looking for some poor man’s version of football factory

It’s actually a shithole of a place as well. My best mate went to uni there and it’s very pikey
