The three points dropped now almost certainly puts paid to any hope of automatic promotion unless we storm the remainder of the season. personally I think the play offs are fraught with hazard and to some extent it feels after today that our season is over. Oh you melt, ye of little faith I hear others cry, but I am basing my pessimism on the unliklihood of us being bought sometime soon, and the way this regime has operated in the mid season transfer window in the past for example Rhys Williams, Roger Johnson, Vaz Te and other similar signings and the selling of some decent players. This time I fully expect Konsa to go. So for today Portsmouth fully deserved their win. An astute manager in Kenny Jackett had them organised well enough to draw our sting first half, and sting us in the second half, and we were impotent throughout. The best moment of the afternoon was Amos saving the penalty, but to be honest we never really troubled them much, I spent long periods of the game wishing we had Fosu playing whilst wondering if Marshall is this seasons Ajose. An afternoon where the negatives were stacked pretty high and one I would prefer to forget. Unless something very very positive happens in the next week or so than we will plod on with poor crowds and poor results, there is some comfort to be had in thinking relegation is unlikely, but staying in this division will lead to an exodus of players, and although he played well today I can't see us building a future around Joe Aribo.
This season i had high hopes today my hopes have ended. If the takeover is really happening there is no way in the world a single penny will be spent in January. If the takeover happens before then game on.
If there is no takeover then we are going to detoriate further more no signings will be made period. When asked about signing Besst what did RD ask is there a youth player you can play instead. That says it All. All this rubbish about we bid for this we bid for that is bullshit we all know this even the RD/KM fans know this.
On a side note I though Best done not with his cameo then Josh did for the entire game that's my abiding thought on the game. Big Josh was just going though the motions sad day. Anyway the pie eater is about to tuck into a pizza happy days.
With over 4K of Pompey fans that equates to approximately 12k Charlton fans. A clear indicator the boycott is having an effect as today should have seen 20k plus given the occasion.
We lost, so what, I’ve had a fucking good day out and that’s what counts. Just one thing KR, let’s have lots of shots...
Yes, you having a good day is what counts....Jesus wept
If you don’t understand that the you really shouldn’t be supporting a team like Charlton. Get yourself a season ticket to Man Utd...real football teams will never win every game so you have to learn to enjoy the day as well
A disappointing result and performance, but ridiculous to suggest that 3 bad league results in a row means we are out of automatic contention or even playoff contention.
I would agree that Wigan and Blackburn look most likely to take the automatic places, but there's a long way to go. All teams will have wobbles, they will have bad spells too, as will the other teams around us.
Blackpool in 2 weeks time is a must win match, they are struggling at the moment too. Anything we can get next week at Blackburn will be a bonus
Holmes needs to be dropped imo. According to previous games he has been poor and today proved it. The ball he played across should have been drilled with the hope it hits someone at least! Thought Aribo was one of the better players, composed on the ball and strong in the tackle, Sarr does try to do to much but when no one else is offering anything at 1-0 down, go for it lad! I like Robinson but the subs were to late. Pompey were shit and will lose more games than they win playing like that, just we had no killer instinct.
Agree with most of this particularly the Aribo bit, can’t believe anyone is knocking his performance today; yes he gave the ball away a couple of times but he broke it up and used it well plenty more times than that and he has a brilliant touch-really think he’s going to be a player and hope he gets a prolonged run in that role.
Disagree that Pompey were shit though, they gave us a lot of possession, particularly in the first half, and then when they realised how little we had as an attacking force-Magennis didn’t get a sniff against their centre halves- they became more of an attacking force and always looked dangerous at set pieces and on the counter. It was a brilliant away performance as far as I could see and not that dissimilar to how Peterborough played but we managed to get a bit of luck that night-I would expect other half decent teams coming to the Valley to set up in the same way and i’m not sure we have the tools to get around it. Worrying times and, the more the squad size and KRs unwillingness to change formation becomes more apparent, the more I think that the play offs would be a fantastic achievement.
At the start of the game there was a guard of honour....for what? At half time some directors and players walked out and got something. There was a merry band of drummers, clackers, and shirts without a gambling advert, as an occasion I have seen better in infant school nativity plays. I understand the £95 dinner is coming up soon, I would like to bet that it won't be as much fun as upstairs at the Swan was after the game.

Get what your saying ref pompey but if we were a team that could score, there game plan would have been undone in the first 20 minutes. When we put 2 upfront there CB's struggled a little, that change should have been made earlier whether it was KAG or Best.

does that mean we shouldn't get pissed off when we lose then? Fucking plum.
I tend to agree RC, living near MK plenty of people warned me this would happen,I seem to remember the phrase , no plan B being uttered a fair bit.
This is why I really don't get the notion that a lot of posters seem to want him to stay if we get new owners. I think he's really tactically limited, whilst I accept that we also need better players, we need someone who can get the best out of honest professionals at this level, assuming we have some - we need someone so like Chris Powell that he is Chris Powell...
Hats off to the Pompy fans throwing glass bottles and coins across the platform when there were only about 12 Charlton fans left on the Kent bound platform. Glass bottle smashed about a foot away from a disabled man and coins only just missed some kids.
Classy.
Also well done to the old bill for just letting it carry on whilst concentrating 15 police officers on the 3 Charlton fans between 16-50 on the Kent bound platform. Definitely was important to film them rather than those throwing stuff.
Fucking shambles.
Scum mate. Every Pompey fan I encountered today seemed to be a prick
Yep agree with this. As the match went on, you could tell their fucking backwater of a Jeremy Kyle cast of 3000 weren’t like a proper away following you get from like a Sheff Utd or a Newcastle etc
They’re like a shit version of milllllll
Walking up Floyd road as we joined them you could tell they were looking for some poor man’s version of football factory
It’s actually a shithole of a place as well. My best mate went to uni there and it’s very pikey
As a matter of interest after all the talk of loads buying tickets in home areas were there any/many ?

Or an indicator that the belgians have lost us 10k fans and we'll have a lot of work to do once they're gone!
Usual bollocks. Dominate for 20 minutes dominating possession without creating much, an average, unambitious side grow in confidence knowing we offer little threat, grab a goal and we've no plan B. Such a shame today, a larger crowd who were up for it but given little to want to return for. Robinson's persistence with the same game plan means sides know exactly how to nullify us, we have to mix it up a bit.
Probably deserved a point but we are too predictable and inflexible with our rigid 4-2-3-1.
Four games ago we were on course for 92 points and now only 81 (and falling fast).
I don’t think we did deserve anything from it.
We lacked creativity, Portsmouth did us tactically I felt as you pointed out our 4-2-3-1 is too predictable
Worrying signs over the last few games if we’re honest
Great, I'm really looking forward to Ewood Park next week now
My thoughts exactly Red.
@ozaddick Injuries, lack of depth in the squad and some key players playing below par has done for us mate. The success at Bradford seems light years away now.
I've got my ticket because I was worried about the xmas post not getting it here on time if I left it too late ordering it. Are you going to hang on until next week before making a decision?
What happened with Meire on the pitch... was she booed?
Apparently the whole ground shouted meire ...... cunt & this went on for 10 minutes, it was awful for her but she just had to put up with it. I'm sure that's correct isn't it pinnochio ?
You forgot to add the chant of: Women have no business in Football... awful, awful for poor Katie!!
It was worse than the racist abuse that Black players used to have to deal with. It was shocking. She's so brave.
Of course being Belgian doesn't help meires case, It's well known that the savages in SE7 have long held a grudge against anything Belgian, ...... chocolate, beer, Tin Tin, wooden dolls with extremely long noses .........
In response to quite a lot of comments, I thought Marshall did okay today particularly in the second half and put in some good crosses on his right and left and consistently got the better of the left back (how did the linesman not give that foul?). Pissed off when Robinson took him off but then that is becoming one of his stock substitutions so not surprised.

Seems a bit like he only runs down the line and can't really get in on goal like Fosu does? Forgive me if that's wrong as I've only seen him a couple of times.
Think it was Harriott who only did this as well although I wouldn't go as far as saying Marshall is that bad.

I'll stay with Charlton, thanks.

You and the other trustees should be very proud of what you have achieved with the museum.
Just sell the club!
He battled hard and is technically bet good. I'd go as far as to say he is technically as good as any player we have if not better.
He made a lot of key interceptions and chased everything. Creative going forward.
I'd prefer him playing with Kashi than instead of but I'm glad we have players like him who haven't managed much game time this season.
