  • Clarke MOM for me, absolutely top drawer, reminds me of Graham Stuart

He's going to be the meh type signing (Kermorgant | Kashi etc.) yet turns out to be one of the best pieces of business done over the summer

Really surprised that he's got a bit of pace about him too, really calm when taking his goal

Glad to read so many recognising Clarke. Very good player and performance from him but they all played well.

Great fun to watch and great football. Their goal came a bit out of the blue but was a warning.

Big shout out for JFC and not just because I had him at 12/1 for last goal.

Ok, Northampton were noting special and must be bottom but we were well in control.

Being picky we could and should have scored more. Mag missed a good chance and a few other chances went begging.

Looked a locked on pen near the end.

Early days but looking very good. Harder games to come so will wait to see how we're doing after ten games.

Superb win today. Also interesting to see that Ipswich (who we beat 6-1 preseason) are now unbeaten and sitting pretty near the top of the Championship.

I didn't go today but my mate from Cobblerville kept texting me to say we we were outstanding. Well done to all those concerned, keep up the good work

Clarke set up Holmes' goal but didn't get one himself. Was very good though.
  • Great result and we played some lovely stuff, but we should have been 3 or 4 ahead by the time they scored. Still need a clinical finisher to put away some of the numerous chances we create. Well played lads. Forster-Caskeys second was a cracking finish. Special mention to billy clarke who put in an unbeleiveable shift.

They were supposed to lose 2-0 today prevented me having a clean sweep and 14 points in the prediction league :disappointed: .
  • Really good performance all round... Completely made up for the result against Plymouth and in the first few minutes it really looked as though that was their intent (i.e. wasteful last weekend, we'll make sure we're more lethal as soon as possible) - Because of that first goal it forced Northampton to come out and attack which they did really well forcing Ben Amos into some really good saves which definitely saw him redeeming himself for that second Plymouth goal (he didnt just do that yet came out with flying colours).

Dasilva has certainly proved that his height shouldnt be much of an issue this season, he seemed to have to deal with two of the tallest players in their team but had both in his pocket... Almost scored what would have been goal of the season when he ran with the ball from his half yet then provided a proper Defenders shot at the end of it. Ultimately the whole show was ran by Clarke and Forster-Caskey with the latter's game being helped with Kashi alongside him, always a bit of a worry when our Algerian Midfielder goes to ground and required a bit of attention as our season will depend on those three remaining fit, Kashi does need to learn the English game a bit as against Plymouth he was caught on the ball (lead to a goal), that happened again today yet thankfully didnt end in a goal.

When it went to 2-1 I was ready to take marks away from Robinson, especially when he took Holmes off for Konsa as was worried that it would invite Northampton to put the pressure on, yet did the opposite and he should have won a clear penalty... Konsa's cameo was rewarded with the assist for that third goal with a nice little pass across to Billy Clarke.

Was also impressed with Karlan Ahearne-Grant and his own cameo, despite having his own good performance and being tricky on the ball (Tariqe Fosu), I felt that Ahearne-Grant coming on offered a different sort of option to Fosu who started, and until Mark Marshall returns I can really see those two having a proper battle for a starting place, yet expect Fosu to win it.

No-one's mentioned Solly - was he better this week?

Really enjoyed that. Looked dangerous every time we went forward and some really great individual performances. Infact everyone seemed to have a good game.

Also really like Clarke - does a lot to connect midfield and attack, which is important in a side like ours which looks to break in numbers.

A poor cross but otherwise fine imo

First things first, that's not entirely true, he was training yesterday in a small sided game with the first team group.

Secondly, that was a fantastic display and it's got to be said that Clarke was phenomenal, the amount of times he won the ball back tracking back, he was simply brilliant.

The attacking play was the best it's been for a long time and I really hope we sign a striker to compliment Magennis as well as real competition because we are only really a couple of players short of a really great squad, capable of winning promotion.

Enjoyed today, it was good to be at The Valley again and rocking at the end.

He's Solly, just quietly gets on with the game these days... I think despite them having dropped a bit the performances are still up there, he just set such a high standard when he broke through he's going to look a little worse than when he won POTY twice on the trot

Left at 2-1 on 86 nerves couldn't take it.. Amazed it was 4-1 at the end. Should have been that score after 70.....too much tippy tappy stuff.

Tippy tappy stuff is probably why we won 4-1. Don't want us to play long ball nonsense.

  • Great result and great entertainment. Amos made a great save and smothered the ball for the rebound in the 1st half. Clarke my MOM, worked his socks off and showed some real class. How was that not a pen when KAG gets to the ball first? Daughter enjoyed the pre match entertainment so all in all a great day out. COYA

A good performance that could have seen us score a hatful. Was extremely entertaining and the way we have players that run at defenders and into space gives me hope we will cause lots of teams problems and see lots of entertaining football this year.
However this has to be balanced by even in a game when we were clearly the better side they had numerous good chances and seemed strange they hadn't scored until 80 minutes. Certainly Amos had to earn his corn today and looked much better than against BR.
Bigger tests against more clinical teams. Also still worried about lack of depth in squad. Desperately need to keep Mcgennis, Holmes and Kashi fit. If those 3 players can play 40 games each this season I don't think we will be too far away come May.

My first game of the season and I was very impressed. We're a clinical striker away from walking this league. We make the chances and our attacking mids have to be by far the best in the league, with Reeves and Marshall still not even in.

Poor management from Justin Edinburgh. Set up his team to defend too high up the pitch. Played into our very capable hands.

Not a dodgy performance amongst the team. Special mention in despatches to Clarke and Amos. Clarke for being our engine room and Amos for showing us doubters that he's more than capable.

Robinson has us purring right now. Help him out Roland.

    Really liked Crooks for them.

Not a brilliant performance but what fantastic goals. Billy Clarke my man of the match and Jay was superb. I think the midfield is the strength and forster caskey is a good example of how the midfield (just like when we won league 1 before) will get the goals. It would be nice to have another striker and if Novak goes then we can get a decent one on loan hopefully. Northampton are obviously a work in progress and I thought the score flattered us but another great day for Charlton and a good bounce back from last week.
