I'm not defending rd in any way but lets not kid ourselves that it is easy to become a billionaire and an idiot certainly cannot. If any one of us could become a billionaire then we would b able to buy the club and run it in the best way possible and wouldn't b waiting on snippets of information from others or hoping that those who are able to control their destiny and that of the things they own, will do the best for our club. Money aint important until a lack of it stops you from getting what you want.
Again we are trying to interpret the words of Duchatelet as if he is involved with the day to day process. I doubt he has involved himself in a day to day process in 15yrs
His comments on the club were entirely derived from what he had been told by the club officials he employed who invariably told him what he wanted to hear or what they wanted him to hear.
We still represent less that 1.5% of his asset portfolio.
For the sale he will have given a number of parameters to the lawyers negotiating on his behalf. I doubt he has attended more than a single meeting with the Australians.
So I can but ask exactly what funds do you expect to be disclosed?
Using "the old house buying scenario" when did you tell any vendor how much money you had available to buy their house? Why would anyone do that? Where is there any legal requirement to do so until lodging a deposit upon the exchange of contracts?
Who puts money up front until they are legally obliged to do so? The Australians have no need to display their funds until such time as they are contracted to settle the due sum to the vendor. Their financial arrangements are entirely confidential to them.
No disrespect but the spin around this is naïve. Of course it entirely suits the vendors' negotiating position to indicate there is a 2nd party in play. In truth he is not lying, until the contracts of sale are signed & exchanged technically the world & his wife "are still in play".
Equally he, from any negotiating position, has to appear to keep the door open until the Australians sign & exchange contracts because until then they can still walk away without penalty. If they choose to walk away he needs a default position. His default position is "they do not have the money". It is and will be "his mantra" until the deed is done.
Can we please, please stop this nonsense the Australians do not have the money.
Extract from the Financial Review dated June 2017;
It was on November 28 last year that Andrew Muir, whose late father Ian founded The Good Guys, received $870 million, in cash, from JB Hi-Fi for full ownership of the home appliances chain. .....
And the Muirs will just about make the cut once they've trousered another $130 million for 15 sites where The Good Guys is the family's long-term tenant.
These are his liquid assets;
A$1000mn at today exchange rate equates to £566,673,535
A$1000mn at today exchange rate equates to US$754,345,624
I have no doubt Mr Muir will have spent a few dollars since then but if he wishes to part with just 10% of his "cash" wealth he has access to the money. I am perfectly happy for him to take his time to get the deal he and his fellow investors want if it benefits the club.
THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES however unlike the rushed acquisition by Duchatelet they appear to be doing detailed due diligence not only with the vendor but the EFL.
The Australians have nothing to lose other than the bid preparations costs of circa £1mn. Much of it will be allocated cost in terms of people already working for the investors respective organisations while the rest will be a research opportunity cost.
If they walk away where does that leave Duchatelet?
In case you had not noticed the players will be returning for preseason training in approximately 5 or 6 weeks.
Who is going to be setting, signing off and managing operating budgets?
Who is going to be talking to existing players and prospective new signings and their agents about contracts?
Who exactly is going to be taking preseason training?
RD thus has 5/6 weeks to recruit a new CEO, a new CFO and a new manager? Do you think any preparation is underway by RD to fill those positions in a timely manner?
RD will also face another season of funding costs. Can he afford it? Yup Has he got better things to do? Undoubtedly.
Everything he says and does resembles an executive who has spent all of 1.5% of his time on our interests. Nothing has changed.
His legal team will doing the grunt work and just for Ossiedave an alleged dialogue follows;
RD: How it is going then lads? Hope all is well - you guys are expensive!
MdeR: It is all going well boss
RD: So when is this thing going to be done?
MdeR: It is all going well boss, maybe another week maybe two
RD: So when is this thing going to be done? How many hours are you billing me now?
MdeR: Sorry boss, some idiot did not sort the title of ownership in Jan 2014
RD: So when is this thing going to be done? How many more hours will you be billing?
MdeR: Sorry boss, we keep asking the Aussie bastards to "show me the money"
RD:So when is this thing going to be done?
MdeR: Sorry boss, 1st time they said "Go waltz Matilda", 2nd time "Go play your didgeridoo", 3rd time Strewth - F*** O**" we will show you when we are good & ready
RD: So what do I tell everybody?
MdeR: Don't tell them anything but if they catch you out just tell them "they haven't got the money!"
So we are not at EFL sign off stage, the fee had been agreed (or acknowledged) prior to the play-offs and is still at the same level in L1. The problem with funding could be raising the cash or be willing to part with an inflated sum.
As I read it, no.
Deal nothing to do with which division.
Price agreed and no problem with funding from Aussie side whatever Duchatelet says.
EFL is final box to be ticked.
Question now is does it wait until Muir gets back from Oz or does it leak before then?
@Addickted with his sources at the EFL the one to watch.
My hunch would be it could be announced earlier if the Chairman was Murphy, .

Think it will be announced as soon as it is done, Muir can do the press thing when he returns.
There was a party at one of the clubs and RD was dancing like a drunk dad with Robbo doing the same , RD wanted certain music on the DJ a well known one out there said no and RD fired him and threw him out of the party , it Made the press out there
My mate pulled KR up on some of the sessions he wanted to introduce and pulled them apart KR got all lemon and my pal was asked to leave the coaching two days later
If it's the story I know about (can't surely have happened more than once, can it), the DJ was Peter Luts. St Truiden had booked Luts to do a one hour session following their match with Standard Luik. Luts reported that, “After literally one record, Mr. Duchâtelet tells me that I did not do my job well because people were not dancing” after which he was sacked. Sint Truiden deny this, stating instead that manager Peter Onkelinx stopped the DJ and that this was after five records were played.
Kevin Muscat as tackling coach ! Sorry that's OTT.
OTT is a description of his tackling style.
Kevin Muscat made the shocking OTT tackle on Matthew Holmes 20 years ago which Graham Poll missed ! Let's hope that his successful tenure as a manager in Australia doesn't put him in the frame for any jobs which may be available in league 1.
That warrants a flag Geez can you imagine the melt down?
Reminds me of a deal I was working on where one of the lead money men called me at 3am....
‘So what’s this big issue you raised then?’’
‘Sorry I haven’t slept yet, can we deal with this tomorrow’
‘No, from my position at 10,000 feet you are holding up the deal, just sort it out.’
‘Can’t do that, from my position looking from 5,000 and 100,000 feet, you need a real answer and the people who can give that are in bed. I’ll try and get you one as quickly as possible, hopefully tomorrow, Saturday.’

Seriously? Says a lot about the man who claims he would have got Charlton in the Premier League! In your dreams Roland. You had your chance, you had four years' and demonstrated you don't have a clue about running a football club - either here or in Belgium. History will judge you mate and I think we all know the verdict. Just piss off and disappear.

I believe zero meetings.
I’ve heard (not from an Aussie) that things are still ticking over at the club, players are being looked at etc, in the background. Bowyer might be on holiday for all I know, but I think he’s still employed isn’t he?

I would of thought if - Murphy was Chairman as rumours suggest, then he would be the one to announce it, not Muir, I cant see them leaving a rudder less Club go to long without direction, I hope we soon find out.

Haven’t heard the Murphy would be chairman.
I think Muir will probably announce it, as he’s the one buying the club.
I can’t see why Muir being in or out of the country makes an iota of difference. He/they can still issue a press release and hold a conference at a later date. I can’t imagine for one moment that if the EPL ratified it tomorrow they would sit on it until he’s back in the country.

not often I agree with big bro...but he has it spot on.
I expect Muir had already had his pic done holding scarfy.......strewth, he even bought a new one when he was here just in case.

He's only gone home to change.
I think there might be a desire to keep everything under wraps until a press conference is held. It doesn't mean wheels aren't turning in the background. I hope the news doesn't leak out actually.

Love the introduction of the word “strewth” here, my mind even read it with an Australian accent!

Personally, I believe many billionaires are idiots. The fact that we believe such people are clever and give them so much power causes so many of the world's problems.
