Did Robinson throw a punch?

  • W-O-W. I didn't particularly like the reaction of KR at the time but that statement is dreadful. Shame on Samuelson.

Whether or not the guy was a "volunteer", whether or not it was first Saturday of "volunteering" or he's been doing it for years, he's part of AFCW and his goading should have been condemned at the very least. Instead, the blame appears to have been shifted onto Karl to continue the "woe-is-me" narrative of AFCW.

So deflecting, it could have been written by the mhanky mob in the east end of Glasgow, they've been doing that for years :-)
  • Well done Robbo. 10 out of 10. Absolute first class response and if the steward had not got involved he would have been able to explain in a controlled manor the error of his way.

Cracking example to his players as well. Stop taking shit and put some fight into the performances. Solid.
  • Well done Karl your reaction was top class if the comments are as being reported, as for numerous comments on this thread, how can you be associated with Charlton Athletic now or in the future.

Now get the wins we need.

Wonder how the folk earlier on in the thread who were quick to jump onto Robinson's back and overreacting as always with their comments feeling now.......??
  • Anyone with Wimbledon connection know what KR said to be called a liar?

Do they say 'snot mhanky whenever they're accused of things then?

Said the fans deserted their club - the MK Dons' regime line.

I have to say I don't understand the anti-KR stuff at all. He's just the next one to drop into the hot seat at the Valley. So what? Okay, he said he wanted to meet the fans and didn't. It was daft to arrive in a new job and jump straight into the brawl that is club-fan relations here, and I get that he talks to much. But that's him. Did people seriously think he was going to go to a meeting, listen to the protestors and stand up and make a statement to the effect his new employers are clueless? His job is to get the team playing football, and hopefully get some decent signings in the summer. If he does that then he's okay, if this time next year we are in the same state, maybe not, but all the guff about him so far is just so much hot air. A lot of people posted that january was never going to be the right time to put right last summer's botched recruitment, but wen the curtain came down he got stick for not buying loads. He's inheirited a fairly average squad, and has raised the energy and enthusiasm notches a good way, so why not gve him some leeway? Plus anyone remember CP's first few months in charge? He won three on the bounce (or thereabouts) and then none for months. Look what happened the season after.
The saturday incident was crap, but it was provoked by a twat working for AFCW, and they don't seem to have done much about it. So why not at least give the manager a break and let him get on with being the manager. It's results we need, and expecting a short term miracle at the Valley is just a pipe dream.
  • Statement from AFCW is a subtle attack being the best form of defence statement. I am a little disappointed that CAFC haven't issued any form of response (at least if they have it isn't very visible on the OS). That of course may be down to he alleged count throwing where perhaps discretion is the better part of valour when you want to minimise bad publicity.

It does seem like KR has form for being trappy - his time at MKDons has been the reason behind the fans dislike of him. That surely was a known known - so CAFC should have been prepared for that. AFCW were by escorting him around the ground (which I would argue should have been more CAFC's responsibility). Clearly the groundsman was taking it a bit more personally, and if what was said is actually along the lines of what we are reading on here it's understandable KR flew off the handle. I do suspect the comment was only made to deliberately wind him up and provoke a reaction. I wonder if the "volunteer" will be sacked or will get a quiet pat on the back for the publicity that AFCW have as a result?

We all have trigger points. Completly different in one sense but not in another, I co-manage my son's Sunday team. I get wound up - football does that. I always undertsand that I have to set an example, and am disapointed with myself on the rare occasions when I might have fallen short. I don't like to see U-16s or any youngster try to injure another player and I don't like it when the opposing manager doesn't deal with that behaviour. To the point on one or two occasions when it has overheated a bit. But if you have won, it is easier to turn the other cheek! Basically you have to use all your powers of self control when you are in a heightened state because of the game but nobody is perfect! I fully empathise with the manager. Multiply this a thousand times and you can understand a provoked professional manager like Robinson reacting. Given what I understand was said to Robinson, we have no need to have this thread in my opinion. This isn't opera it is football and the guilty party in this was the Wimbledon staff member who will no doubt be punished.

I think security issues would always be the home team's responsibility. A load of Charlton security might be seen as provocative.

If their "volunteer" has really said something about his daughter then hands up, I was wrong to have criticised Robinson so harshly.

We want a bit more than that -

Can you say, "I'm very sorry for being so silly and I will not do it ever again, sorry"
  • Anyone with Wimbledon connection know what KR said to be called a liar?

Kevin Rye. Olympic Stadium PR guru, Dons Trust guy. Promised me we will have a chat later this week, since we didn't see eye-to-eye over text chat, and his explanation about the liar claim wasn't terribly clear. He did write "he was just part of the Franchise lie machine, which if you'd faced it for as many years as we have would piss you off too".

  • Why does it matter if he's a volunteer or not? He was a representative of AFCW on the day, and paid or not, they should be held accountable for his actions
  • Good they've binned him but was still part of club set up.

Why would a grown man make offensive remarks about a 10 year old girl. Bloody disgusting human being.

    Indeed. It's only a game.

Don't remember the FA taking action after we sacked our announcer for abusing another club. And everyone in the ground heard that. I wonder what they and Palarce would think if they new we had given him his old job back?
