Robinson already getting sucked into the mire of supporter-ownership politics. There is only one right side to be on in thi debacle and it's not the Belgian one. I think he would be best served to keep his gob shut and just focus on the football.
I've had enough of these Belgian idiots getting involved in & utterly misreading a fan culture they will never understand. Don't need a 30 something scally, however well intentioned doing the same - our fight is not with him (yet).

It's such a shame that our forum is dominated by words such as the above. It all could have been so easily avoided.
It's pretty clear to me at least that Robinson is an open, wear your heart on your sleeve type of character who when he met Duchatelet was given assurances and sold a vision of where the owner wanted to take the club. Robinson was suitably impressed and felt he could buy into it.
If there is a vision that tempted KR to take the job, why oh why hasn't the regime tried to sell this vision to us the fans ?
I don't think Charlton supporters are particularly impatient. I feel confident that if we felt that there was a plan and vision for the club we would be a lot more forgiving to mistakes. There would be a goal and we would feel that we could all pull together in achieving it. Much like the feeling around the club when Curbs was building towards that first promotion. It's all we would need.
Instead we have an absentee owner who remains aloof from the supporters and a CEO that has presided over a seemingly non ending stream of PR and mis management disasters. No meaningful communication with the fans and no effort to sell the vision to us. What a missed opportunity. Talk to us !!!!!!!!
We are all desperate for our club to be successful and be able to be proud of Charlton Athletic again.
It really wouldn't be that difficult to start to turn that around Mr. Duchatelet. If you can't see a way of bringing us with you then please try your footballing luck elsewhere and sell at the earliest opportunity.
Brilliant post, quite simply the best one I have read on this whole situation, sums things up beautifully. Any media outlet giving our troubles further coverage needs to quote this in full.
never mind chatting to the fans Mr Robinson (here's to you) .. give the players a good talking to and get them fecking well performing .. and I mean performing well and consistently
If we keep changing managers, then it will never be any better, even if Curbs came back it wouldn't take long before fans would comment on what the hell he was doing. I take my hat off to the players who go out and perform best they can under difficult circumstances and different managers. Lets at least get behind the new set up now for the clubs sake, the team deserve that at least and under 5.000.00 today, probably not even enough to pay the wages, so they are already keeping us afloat week in week out. This manager has good ideas and knows what he wants, lets hope he gets to the end of the season to prove he's the best so far.

Thankyou
Totally agree with this. How many months, at different stages, have the regime as a whole remained silent and made no effort whatsoever to communicate with their very 'Charlton' loyal fan base?
KR seems genuinely bermused by the protests. He's clearly been fed a pack of lies & was brainwashed into believing them. I don't think he's the sort of guy that will suffer fools so he'll be gone in 6 months once he realises how poisonous they are

Charlton supporters give chances to new managers. It is not about that, it is about the off field set up, unbalanced & lacking in depth squads that leave key areas missing in quality. So there is a new manager but they are working under the same restrictions & off field ineptness, mis applied & delusional strategy, alongside regular owner interference.
You talk of 'a new set up' but it is not really a new set up just a different body in the ducking chair. A truly new era would be one that started with a change of ownership. One that involves ambition with grown up football decisions from football professionals knowledgeable in how to run a successful football club.
Anybody appointed with English experience will know there are major problems at the club. It will only be once working for the Belgians they'll realise the extent of the problems.
However, I am certain both Slade and Robinson were/are seeing us as an easy payday as managers only last an average of four months in SE7.

Why not get off the CARD trip. The man has the balls to offer an olive branch and meet the fans. The man has been there a week and shows passion as well as enthusiasm and all we see or read are derogatory comments and silly images. Back the team and get behind them for the second half of the season.
I like some of the things he had to say after the game yesterday.
“We’re at The Valley. This place is for front-foot, aggressive football."
"I told the players to go and clap the fans, these people deserve that. The price doesn’t go up or down if we win or lose so we have to treat them with respect. The next stage is to develop this club moving forward."
“I’m going to do my damnedest. I’m going to be working every hour God sends to try and coach and coach. The more we coach, the better we become.”

Unless they can't take a corner in front of the Covered End of course - then give them dogs abuse.

The response from the overwhelming majority of Charlton supporters has been positive to Karl Robinson.
The major problem is the off field running of the club, the inept management staff & the flawed & poorly enacted strategy / vision of the club. This directed by an owner who closes his mind & refuses to hear any critical voices.
So you will have to forgive those that sceptical about whether anything has changed. Evidence of more sensible decisions & better approach off the pitch that will underpin success on the pitch is needed. Duchatelet & Meire have demonstrated limited capability of that at their time at Charlton so far.

Regardless of what happens or whom is appointed there are certain factions that will continually carry on. Although they deny it there actions do effect the players and results therefor they are as much to blame in hurting the team and club rather than the owners logic would be to turn up and support the team with as passion as there is as when it comes to chucking things on the pitch. What also would be embarrassing is going over to the spanners on the 21st listening to all the anti songs wearing black and white rather than supporting the team and wearing the red of Charlton.

Accepting that we need to get behind Karl Robinson ...
His comments seem to be either very naive - which I don't believe - or part of the appointment is that he has to give his public backing to the regime. The gushing praise for Meire and Duchatalet - plus his insistence the club will not be sold - seems to be to be a message from the top via an intermediary rather than any thoughts of the manager himself. I suspect Duchatalet has had enough of appointing managers who are less than fulsome in praising him.
It is inconceivable he was not aware of the mess at the club or the reasons for the protests. Would anyone with half a brain not do some background research before an interview, let alone before taking a job with so much baggage attached. If nothing else, he was at the Valley in March for the dire 0-0 draw when he saw what the crowd thought of life in SE7.
So let's give him a chance but let nobody think he is not going to sing Meire and Duchatalet's praises at every opportunity. Nothing will change behind the scenes.
Maybe he should just read one or two threads on here. My advice to him would be to focus on the team - if he gives us something to support we will support him and the team, but never the regime.
If the regime made us a stable premier league side I'd support them, even in spite of the shit they have put us through.

You're not a plumber by any chance are you, because it sounds like you might be talking ballcocks...
No-one is as much to blame for the state of the club as the regime. Their negligence and cack-handed approach to running our club is 100% responsible for our current crisis, and for all further crises we will face as long as they remain.
None of this is down to the fans' protests, which are a reaction to, and an attempt to find a remedy for, the complete farce the club has become.

It could be of course that during interview and meeting with Duchatelet that Robinson sought information and assurances about the owners intention or not to sell. It's a risky business being manager when new owners turn up. Because Robinson was told by RD that he is not selling its not the same as Robinson being told to sell this to the fans.

I take it you understand what state the club was in financially and where we were heading before they took over.
