There is a lot of chat on another forum (mainly from those kicked off here admittedly) saying that things could get nasty at the Coventry match, either from aggressive stewarding or aggressive anti-protest fans. It would be a huge shame were this to happen and massively detrimental to not only protests but the club as a whole.

Is this just playground bluster or is it something that CARD and protesters need to be conscious of?

If you see someone with a keyboard under their arm then worry, otherwise it is all bluster. They had all last season. Nothing happened.

People in the streets, in the Lib etc at recent games wearing protest shirts and black and white scarves and nothing said (why should there be?).

That lot are all talk.. they were talking about anti-card at the Northampton game.. nothing happened...
I remember threats from that direction aimed at the White Swan ProtestFest in the summer....... nothing!

@Davo55 - I've looked at that one and can only see the CARD response. I guess I'm being a complete tit but I still can't see the KM initial email.

I can't see it either, which thread and page is it on?
Well thank fuck for that - it's not just me.
I can't find it either. The closest I found was the comments hidden away at the bottom of the Mail article:

A Charlton Athetic spokesperson confirmed the club has written to CARD to invite the group to meet with the club's Senior Management Team at The Valley: 'Everyone at Charlton Athletic, whether staff or fans, have the club’s best interests at heart.

'Last season we made numerous mistakes on and off the pitch which resulted in relegation and disengaged fans. Over the summer we have worked hard to start rebuilding the club. We recruited Russell Slade, an experienced, British manager, and proven players who know the league. We want to rebuild the club with the help and support of our fans.

'Already this season we’ve increased our engagement with fans, we’ve hosted a Meet The Manager evening for season ticket holders and the club’s CEO Katrien Meire has hosted Q&A sessions on matchdays with various official fan groups. These are in addition to our regular meetings with fans via the Fans Forum and the Target 20k group.

'While we respect CARD’s right to protest, we are concerned that they have chosen to restart their protests and call for disruptive actions during matchdays. The manager and the players will need all the support they can get to give Charlton Athletic the best opportunity to challenge for promotion to the Championship this season. With this in-mind we have requested a meeting with CARD to look at how we can potentially begin working with them on a process of rebuilding this great club.'
    Thanks Neil!

Sadly no more CL for me at the moment as Mr Tatters is complaining that tea is late.....
Tell him to buy to takeaway! Welcome to 2016 ;)
Mr Tatters is older than me and I know my place.
Can you have a word with my wife?!
    You've got a wife? Jeez!
Has bad eyesight and a little bit hard of hearing........
  • I haven't been to a match this season and wasn't going to Coventry match either until Meire tried to undermine the protests with her PR stunt of offering a meeting with CARD then immediately taking this offer to the press.

I just tried to order on line but couldn't log in so I clicked on 'forgotten password' three separate occasions and am still waiting. Tried to re register but it wouldn't let me as my email is registered! Perhaps they are aware of my body odour and flatulence problems. Anyway, I got around it by creating a new email.

I will be staying with family as it is a 500 mile round trip. The sad thing is that despite Mrs TT travelling with me and her love of Charlton, she refused to get a ticket as she doesn't want a penny of her money going to the regime saying that she can no longer identify players or has any attachment with the club as it now stands. She will happily attend the protest but I will be undertaking up my seat in the West Lower for the both of us. I hated the process of pressing that payment button but it had to be done. At least I might be able to buy @Arsenetatters that drink I promised even though Roland hasn't gone yet.

I wonder if Meire and Roland have any idea of just how hated they are that someone would drive 10 hours+ to protest at what they have done to our club that they wont hand over any money to watch the match despite following them all over the country and even abroad. The regime need to be made aware of the depth of feeling that they have generated against there actions. They still don't appear to get it. Maybe they will at 5pm on the 15th?

    Well done @TellyTubby
  • Top man TT
  • It will take me a week to get there Mate

Your not on your own TT. I got tickets for me and my son yesterday and felt sick as I pressed the pay now button. Not quite a 500 mile round trip for me but close at 450 and I'm happy to do it to let my feelings be known. I don't give a toss about the football anymore, this trip is purely to protest. The last home game I came to was Cardiff last season and that was only to join in with the protest too. I was actually in London on the day of the recent Oldham match and could easily have gone before heading home, in years gone by I would have moved heaven and earth to make a game. However, it never once crossed my mind to go and I despise this regime for making me feel like this. Absolutely fooking hate them.
I doubt that they even wonder what could be achived with having this sort of dedication working with them rather than against them.

Beggars belief that anyone would choose to operate any business as they do.

Camera, and cameras on phones, and other devices to record what is going on is our friend.
All right I might get a kicking, but hopefully in the end those stewards and violent fellow Charlton fans will get their DNA taken and they will spend some time in a cell in Belmarsh.
Make sure cameras and phones are well charged up and handy.
  • I cannot see any pro-regime supporters instigating violence, and anyone suggesting otherwise is simply spouting a load of nonsense. Stewards, of course, are a completely different animal. In my experience, in the event of a disturbance, most stewards will pounce on the smallest and/or the youngest. For those falling into these categories who are planning to attend the protests, in the unlikely event of any disturbance, make sure you are standing next to the biggest bloke you can!

That's me. Proper midget. Look about 8 years younger than I am. Good thing I'm taking my younger cousin. 6'2 builder!
  • I hope Tony has invested in a minder, you know it makes sense Tony. Otherwise, you'll just be walking along and well.....

That's kind of you @TellyTubby. I've got a Rochdale prog saved for you (well @ElfsborgAddick has got it at the mo - via Seth's brother Ollie as I wasn't at the game....) I'll probably pick it up midweek and stick it in the post incase it gets creased during the protests!

Thank you again. Good idea. You never know with the violent pro regime lot. I understand Mrs Perks has been seen putting on a mean half Nelson mid protest on occassions.

Coventry fans should sit in the charlton end too and a mix of their colours and ours would be great

Roly would love to see the fans mixing together!
Yes, it should be pointed out to the SLP that Roland is getting delivery of one of the things on his wish list
when he spoke to them a few weeks ago; rival fans getting together before the game - some pictures as well please SLP.
