  • Pathetic anyone attended this, liars like to lie and you guys are giving her the ear to do so, and then her to press that onto the media to buy her more time as people want to believe her.

If it was OUR Club it wouldn't need proving, we would all be attending and wearing our Club colours. Proof is in the pudding.

Who is the fat bloke in a white shirt slouched to the right of Meire

It looked a woman in all honesty.

Made me chuckle that! Well observed.

The devil is in the detail, as our CEO is finding out. More than one way to skin a Katrien. Funny thing is, she's on the ropes and doesn't know it. Like an arrogant boxer shortly before the knockout punch is delivered. Her time will come and it will be sweeter than honey.

Maybe you're right but the impression I got from today is that they are going nowhere and that they believe that, eventually, the fans will come round or give up.

Her body language, especially, made her look very relaxed and very confident in her position.

There was a suggestion that RD would both want his full investment (loans) back if he were to sell and that he is more than happy to keep 'investing' money until we reach the Premier League, irrespective as to how long it takes.

Also, even though she didn't say so specifically, I got the impression that she is more than happy for people to stay away and to not buy things from the club. She did mention that the lack of income is noticeable (when answering a direct question) but she didn't sound too bothered about it. In all honesty if RD has a personal wealth of over £500m I can see why selling a few less burgers and programs would not have him reaching for the razor blades.

As you would expect the message was positive and 'encouraging' (assuming you believe it). If the 2/3 signings that she mentioned are decent and if we hold on to our current jewels the outlook (on the field) looks ok for the coming season. If we are promoted with a good squad, that might be able to cope with Championship football, it is going to be difficult to ignore that they have done what a lot of fans were calling for and the reason to have them leave will be more difficult to explain/justify.

I'm not sure what the outcome will be but I would say that she carried the room and many of them looked convinced that giving them a year to see how things pan out might be an acceptable approach. However, that is on the basis that, unless RD chooses to sell, there isn't really much of an alternative approach. Even if protesting and trying to cut off the clubs money doesn't damage the playing staff and/or the results on the pitch I don't, personally, think it will force RD to sell the club, and it was abundantly clear that KM doesn't believe he is going to sell, or remove her, anytime soon.

So what was the mood of the East Kent Addicks at the end of the meeting?

I suspect she 'carried the room' as there was a distinct lack of hostility in the questioning.

We keep talking about RD having wealth of iver £500m but I don't know what this means.

I did a quick back of the envelope calculation on his Melexis shares and they were worth well over EUR 1bn, admittedly that's a paper number and not cash in the bank but he also has cash in the bank and other business interests.

Does anyone know how much he has liquid and how much paper money he's worth?

This is the problem. Any good leader in business would not think this way at all.

I dunno what the Target 20k group are looking pleased about in that photo with Brussell. SInce they've been formed the average attendance has dropped from 14k to 10k. I don't know how they are measuring their effectiveness, but it seems to me they are further away from 20k than when they started. I think they need a change of title.

The road is longer than we first thought but we must continue to fight hard all the way. It is heart breaking to see our club destroyed and the swathes of empty seats again today. The thing that that keeps us going is being strong together and knowing how good a bunch Charlton supporters are. We will be here long after they have gone.

Couldn't the club form a group with a more realistically achievable objective than target 20k. Maybe a Charlton Athletic world peace group for instance.

Can't support @redman enough here. Had hoped to get RD/KM and assorted lackeys out last year. There is no doubt for me they still need to go, unfortunately, this is not true for everyone.

Nothing I've seen from this meeting suggests any more than the usual platitudes. Was Meire actually questioned about facts, for example about the club's contradictory, inadequate and incomplete explanations of what has happened to the training ground project?

Meire does the superficial very well and it's no surprise that an ad-hoc audience of supporters would take what she says at face value - the problem is that the more you get to know her the less substance there proves to be, as certain Fans' Forum and even T20k members have realised and consequently walked away.

As an aside any idea the current squad would be good enough for the Championshp is surely a triumph of imagination over judgement.

Yes totally. We know we can field an eleven if everybody is fit that can challenge in league one, but the squad is creaking already with compromises in terms of selection. The squad is not good enough to be competitive in this league as it stands, without a massive dose of luck.

I think in terms of football Meire is ignorant and find it insulting that she holds the position of CEO at my club. If she was aware of her deficiencies it wouldn't be so bad, but an ignorant person in a position of power who thinks they know more than anybody else is really dangerous. This seems to have been the farce we expected.

its a cult of RD they believe in his plan TOTALLY. its why she, them etc come across as " not worried---positive"----The only way is Rolands way and it isnt failing its just not worked YET---we know it cant and wont, but there is no way they will see that.

As that famous Iraqi general said" American tanks near here ? impossible we have destroyed them all" ---he believed it even though they were literally coming up the road when he said it--he looked confident, positive and carried the room---the fact that he was a deluded twat didnt show on his face or mannerisms

Exactly, Meire has continually espoused the belief that RD can do no wrong - that 'he doesn't do failure' etc. She learnt this philosophy at the feet of her mentor and churns it out herself but (unlike the Iraqi General) her her own body can't quite believe the words coming out of her mouth and rebels against her. For example the way she squirms and makes strange exaggerated movements in the Press Conference last season after she stated that each managerial appointment was the correct decision....and then goes on to compound the error (when it was received with stunned incredulity) by trying to justify it with further 'evidence' - "because we improved our position and .............errr our results each time!"

It is frankly embarrassing that the club is run by such an incompetent, deluded and self-serving entity that is Katrien Meire - a person who said last year that she didn't care about the history of the club and I do not apologise for repeating this ad infintum because she can never take back those words for which she never apologised even though she admitted to the interviewer in Belgium that she shouldn't be saying them thus betraying the fact that she knew they were disrespectful to the club which employed her and deeply hurtful to the fans.

So, when she spouts out the insincere business cliches and lays on the superficial charm what is it that she is actually really thinking and not telling us?

Yes. She has said things that she can't take back. And the fact she continues to be employed says everything you need to know about the owner!
