  • Does anyone know what the comments were, by any chance? A long shot but thought it would be worth asking.
  • Just told my boss who supports Millwall, he was actually angry about it, an utter debacle.
  • Take it this fella will now have his season ticket terminated for posting the letter on twitter.

Perhaps CARD should draw up an ABC for club representatives? With better spelling.

One example from the appalling letter. Refers to something, bothers to abbreviate it, and then never mentions it again. What a total tool.
Edited to add: still we now have his email address.

I thought that but then think of the backlash when the letter informing him of that was put on Twitter etc.
  • I've also only just seen through this on Twitter that Katrien has been appointed to represent the EFL on the FA Council too...
  • Anyone else feel like emailing Cliff?

Wahey! Let's all get excited and stamp our feet and post pages and pages of bullshit!

One letter was sent to a season ticket purchaser, whom the club has identified as posting inflammatory statements on a social media website. None of you know the background to this letter, it may also have been complaints by other season ticket holders from last year.

He's been granted his ticket, but called in for a little chat, big deal!

Still, you carry on chaps, don't let anything get in the way of slagging the club off again will you!

In isolation, agree no big deal, but this is the latest in a long line of own goals by the owners of the club, aside from the carnage they have caused on the pitch. More worrying is that this is a the thin end of the wedge. Someone has clearly taken a decision that this is a good way ahead. I cannot help but suspect that, emboldened by this, they will become more bullish about issuing what could become banning orders for critical comment/chanting etc.

The daft thing is this was never going to end well. While they might have been able to ban one fan had he not agreed to their terms, identifying most people on forums etc would be a huge task and an almost impossible one. Weight that against the likely avalanche of negative publicity that this will produce, and it's simply not a good idea.

The point is that they made it public

Commiserations mate, a Millwall boss and all the trials and tribulations at Charlton to contend with. Life is such a bitch sometimes
  • I suggest we all email cliff.eager@cafc.co.uk and very politely ask what we are and are not allowed to say and if there are any other conditions attached to season ticket, or even walk-up ticket, purchase that they will only tell us about after we have paid. That should keep him occupied all day. Oh, and Cliff, my surname's not really Mogodonman before you check the database ...

They can't do that if all he did was just put pic up of the letter on Twitter, it would be like just saying, thanks for letting everyone else know how shit we are, its your fault where shit and showing everyone. Plus, it's been mentioned he didn't sign a ABC contract.

If there is at least one other letter, then the recipients details are edited with red.

So if CL admin said "unless your going to say what the bigger % on here believe, you will be banned" that would be OK with you, would it? ;)

No, they want to really punish him. He'll be forced to pledge attendance at all home match until the owner sells.
  • Wow. It's blown up on Twitter - I'm seeing tweets from people I follow for all sorts of reasons.

Is there anything that this regime has or could do that you won't defend or dismiss as unimportant?

And no one is attacking "the club". We love the club because we are "the club". We're attacking the regime that is hurting our club daily.
Henry, I know I am an easy target because I see things differently to others, but you're a sensible chap, one letter has been sent to one fan asking for a chat about his/her behaviour for the coming season, is it really such a big deal?
In isolation, as a one off incident? No, not a big deal.

When taken into account with all the other stupid, disrespectful, provocative actions and comments, on and off the field over the past eighteen months or so, yes, it is a big deal. If you really cannot understand that I despair of you Al.
    There's none so blind.............,,

I think this is quite important tbf.

Also no one has answered, do we know this is absolutely genuine?

It has plod-speak written all over it. It's either genuine or a spoof by another plod. Eg. "yourself" rather than "you".
  • Airman's post above corroborates it as a genuine letter.

Just seen it tweeted by this guy, who tweets purely politics and.. well.. this is how much he cares about football:

People are jumping on this on Twitter purely because of the censorship angle, this has backfired immensely on the club. When people who don't give a shit about the sport are jumping on the situation then you know it really is ridiculous, and it's not just the "negative nancies" and it's not just Charlton Fans.

Someone must be pretty embarrassed right now.
  • Can't get over how muggy it is to send a threatening letter to one of the 3 people who have actually bought a season ticket this season.

If we're customers, where is the customer service? #c**ts
  • A classic case of the Striesland effect... by trying to shut out the social media negativity they have poured petrol on the fire.

It wouldn't be a forum without people having different views, more like sheepdog trials. If the moderators feel that me having an alternate viewpoint is worth a ban then so be it.

But that still wouldn't stop me from have a pre-match drink with AFKA, Elfsborg, Linsaddick etc. at the end of the day we are all fans!

You should hear some of the abuse I get from Elfsborg, but we are still mates!
