Wahey! Let's all get excited and stamp our feet and post pages and pages of bullshit!

One letter was sent to a season ticket purchaser, whom the club has identified as posting inflammatory statements on a social media website. None of you know the background to this letter, it may also have been complaints by other season ticket holders from last year.

He's been granted his ticket, but called in for a little chat, big deal!

Still, you carry on chaps, don't let anything get in the way of slagging the club off again will you!

Is there anything that this regime has or could do that you won't defend or dismiss as unimportant?

And no one is attacking "the club". We love the club because we are "the club". We're attacking the regime that is hurting our club daily.
Henry, I know I am an easy target because I see things differently to others, but you're a sensible chap, one letter has been sent to one fan asking for a chat about his/her behaviour for the coming season, is it really such a big deal?
  • I want him to go through with it, but just write everything with obvious sarcasm. "Charlton are a well-run club, it's good that we're getting relegated again"

I thought Sue Parkes was already doing that.
  • now retweeted by Danny Baker.
  • My mate from the FA just sent it to me. He can't believe it! Utter madness.

Yes, because it is a reflection of the Charlton SMT's attitude to dissenting fans.

If it is one letter then the club could easily head off the massive eruption of bad PR, but as usual they will remain silent until it is far too late. Anyway one letter is one too many, as I said earlier if what he said was totally repulsive or harmful don't sell him a season ticket or take legal action.
  • In my experience, you don't get much by way of intelligence by employing a retired police officer unless you go for at least superintendent rank (and even then...*)
That letter is a disgrace. Does he realise, do you think, that a comment can be both derogatory and true? No, probably not. The thought police are out there. Shocking.

    * Here's a quote from an ex-met. superintendent and he wasn't joking: "So, these Elgin marbles, who brought them into the country? And what are they made of?"
  • Is Kat going to sign one as well or she allowed to keep comparing our behavior to racist thugs from the 80s?

  • Makes no sense.

    It's bullying. End of.

Doesn't matter if they just sent out one letter.

They've taken the time to research an individual person, recently purchased season ticket holders social media.

    How long has he renewed?

Has he ever caused trouble before?

    Criminal record?

There is no one that would renew this season if they didn't have a season ticket for last season

If he had "a record" of some kind, then that would have stood out and they wouldn't have approved the season ticket.

If the individual made threats on social media (unlikely) then they would have said so in the letter.

It's just a load of sad sad nonsense.

The club has nothing better to do.

Sports and Political journalists on social media seem to think so...

Yeah, come on guys. To be fair to Essex_Al, the person who received this letter might literally be Hitler. We just don't know the background. I'm sure there's a perfectly good reason why the club is trying to control what people post on social media and it's no sinister at all!

It's funny how when the club threatens to withhold a season ticket based on social media comments it's just a 'little chat', so Al apparently knows exactly what will be going on in this conversation, but when people are repulsed by this letter they don't have all the information and so shouldn't comment. Al, the only thing more embarrassing than your double standards here is your refusal to see anything the club does as bad and your desire to jump down the throats of every single unhappy Charlton fan. Honestly, I've never known anyone who dislikes Charlton fans so much as you do and I worked with a load of Millwall fans
Well, if this is such a big deal then, there will quite a number of letters dropping on the mats of posters on here then wont there?

But of course this is not going to happen, it's a one off letter, but you can all still wet your pants over it!

Oh, and I certainly have no desire to jump down the throats of every single unhappy fan, only the ones that enjoy the playground culture on here!
  • Just seen this. Well done people for bringing it to the media.

Unfortunately, Meire is one of those Narcissists who enjoys any attention - even if bad.

    Hideous times.

  • Is this 100% true?
  • Ill thought-out own goal. Impossible to police in the first place (not sure if anyone there aware that people don't always use their own names on forums etc). But seriously, the club think this will stifle negative comments towards the owners?
  • The letter itself sets a precedent. The idea of holding someones ticket to ransom unless they agree to never be negative about the club on the interwebs is ridiculous.

Already picked up on Twitter by The Sun and The Times journalists.

This is massive. This could be the biggest thing that has happened since this all kicked off.

Just spoken to a colleague in a senior commercial role at Arsenal. They are all talking about it at their club.
Talksport are now picking up on it as well.

    It is about online behaviour.
    Online.
Does that not feel different to you somehow?
