'The Streisand effect' is the idea that trying to hide information from public view runs the risk of it gaining more publicity than it otherwise would have got.
The club are currently experiencing technical issues with the phonelines into The Valley, due to an external problem. We are in touch with technicians and are working to have these fixed as soon as possible.
We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and will provide an update when we have more information.

There is a huge difference between the conditions relating to the ending of a football ban, and a blatant attempt to stop free speech.
Let's remind ourselves what Eager said: "....which will request that you refrain from posting derogatory or inflammatory comments regarding the Club or people representing the club in the future on any social media websites, or carrying out any other form of behaviour that could be deemed to be of an anti-social nature."
That is an incredibly broad range of proposed conditions. That is an attack on freedom of speech worthy of North Korea. I find it hard to believe that Eager did this without prompting from above. My understanding is that this did not come from Mick Everitt, which suggests that this has the grubby fingerprints of Tony Keohane all over it. He is known to have been pushing for a tougher line on protests/protesters and this may have been his "chance".
The fact that the ST was granted after an apology was offered for specific comments, and without a behavioural contract having been signed is immaterial.
It is a very clear case of bullying and blackmail by the club on an individual fan.
I suspect it is the thin end of the wedge. We know that club employees have been filming protesters. We know that the club have collated details of this fans who left their STs at the feet of Sam Bartram's statue. I hear that they are keeping photocopies of driving licenses taken along by people claiming the free tickets to SE7 residents. That sounds like a police state to me.
Hopefully, the backlash will make Meire, Keohane and Eager think again.
I have heard it said that Charlton, our Charlton, once a role model of club:fan relations, has become "the club that hates it's own fans".
There was a guy filming the north upper from the family stand for the last few home games last season, I would assume a lot more "customers" are on a watch list and being monitored regrading throwing objects etc - got a feeling this season things are going to get worse and The Valley atmosphere very very toxic

Still photographers in blue steward tabards (mingling with protesters) were present and taking photos at the barriers during the after-match protests - I took photos back of them - one fled!

Ooh, look, there's a nice line in black & white balaclavas. (You'd have to not put it on until you'd got in the ground of course and then not sit in the seat allocated to you.)

I wasn't sure I believed that before. I do now.
Whilst I agree, I am just saying the club has done this before and been complicit with getting people civil banning orders when people have done nothing wrong.
I remember one of the reasons on mine was that there was disorder at a game that I had attended. Didn't say anything about me being involved in it just that there was disorder at the game.
Interesting to compare the language between the letter and the club statement
e.g. derogatory (ie showing a critical or disrespectful attitude) or inflammatory has morphed into "foul and abusive". Suggests to me that the first letter was written by an English lawyer while the statement was not.
Being derogatory without being foul and abusive is totally ok to me within any free and democratic society and KM needs to understand the distinction if she is to stop making a fool of herself and the club.
Read the letter front to back and gotta say I'm disappointed there isn't a: 'if you carry on this behavior either in the ground or on social media, we will take you ST off of you! No iffs, no buts'

Wouldn't do any harm for us to film them and plaster their mug shots all over social media, if it's a war they want then it's a war they shall have!
Just woke up, visiting family in NY and can't stop laughing. What a bunch of idiots. I'll let you know if it's on the NBC Today show this morning. Watching BWP tomorrow, will reminisce about the good old days when Charlton was known for football reasons.
There is a bigger problem here though - i know numerous people who have been intimidated by the club and haven't renewed this season for fear of Similar actions.
@boggzy for invading the pitch. The Belgian lot for there antics. @Airman Brown has been confronted by Katrien if i remember correctly. @LouisMend confronted for being negative by Slade. @The_President for visiting Katrins family's house.
I know i have had several calls with the club about last seasons antics. and i believe if we all renewed this season they would have done the same to us.
There is definitely an agenda of intimidating the ring leaders of the protests. and trying to silence us. to a certain extent it is working because many dont want to go back to Belgium and most people haven't renewed so wont be in the stadium this season to protest.
Is this what KM was doing instead of appointing a manager while 16 other clubs managed to do so, and instead of getting the 5/6 players promised by Russell Slade??

Another great own goal. Tossers.
WHAT A SHAM lol
This is great for the protests!

They asked fans to phone in as if it was may 2017 with there reactions to the season. It was the funniest thing I've heard in ages.

It's certainly no surprise to see ex-ob acting like a bully.
It sums up perfectly the owners (and his lackeys) antagonistic attitude towards the fans.
The fans are just customers, and the customers are the enemy.
