Actually I could make myself even more unpopular than @se9addick by saying that I could sort of see what she was driving at in her Dublin comments.
But that would be to miss the point.
When she first arrived, and throughout the first year, she enjoyed a lot of goodwill; a lot of people wanting her to succeed precisely because she was a young woman. @Weegie Addick 's interview with her in Trust News remains an excellent example of that.
But then came bad decision after bad decision, and increasing evidence that she treated the idea of fan consultation with contempt. It became more and more apparent that @Airman Brown was right. As a CEO of a business like this, she is incompetent in the literal sense of the word.
A competent person would not have made those comments in Dublin. A competent person would probably not even have been at that Dublin meeting in that week. And if that person went, in order not to let the organisers down, that person would have thought carefully in advance what she was going to say, knowing that it was likely to be videoed for public consumption, at a time when her customer base was waiting to hear important news and guidance from her.
If Katrien Meire had built on that initial fund of goodwill, and particularly had she actually talked regularly with fans who are not sycophants, and who know the club well, she would never have made those comments. Or she would have phrased them subtly differently, and it would have been fine, because she would have had a fund of goodwill to carry her through the occasional awkward moment in a foreign language.
She has squandered that fund.
This is what happens in business when you lose the trust of your customers. Nobody believes a single thing you say any more even if sometimes you have a point. Seems to me those clowns at Govia Thameslink are another example. In both cases, they have only themselves to blame, the CEO of Thameslink and the CEO of CAFC. They are very well paid, they have failed, and they should step down. As Gerald Ratner had to do.
Great post Prague. When she first started she got involved with lots of fan-based tasks like helping clean the stadium, marching with the Upbeats, giving out programmes. It's not the important decision making stuff that's expected of a CEO but it was great in terms of garnering support. She was for a short time very popular.
It's only when she had to start making decisions that the scales fell from everyone's eyes. She should never be given the opportunity to play the victim card because it simply isn''t true.
For the record, I (and many others) have repeatedly called her incompetent. I don't necessarily think that it's a general-incompetence, as in she's unable to do anything. It's a very specific incompetence in that she is simply useless as a CEO. Looking back on those early days when she did so well at interacting with the fans on quite a superficial level, I'd say she'd probably make a very good holiday rep. And I'd wish her every success if one day she saw the light and decided that that was the career for her.
We really do need to direct some of our attention towards the EFL too. It seems they have eight places on the FA Council - six are EFL board members, the other two elected by the 72 clubs. KM is one of the latter. As someone just said on Twitter, so did they look at CAFC as a role model and think, we'd like some of that?
Was she seriously voted in place by the other clubs?
I am rapidly loosing all interest in British football all together. F*ck the lot of em.

It does leave you wondering if those running some of the clubs actually read newspapers or even watch TV. It accounts for the massive divide between fans and boards at many clubs but in this day and age it beggars belief that there were not enough 'leaders' who sat up with concern when her name was suggested.
I suspect in that all-male world they thought it would show how forward looking they are to have some young, female eye-candy for them to slobber over and to make the tea for them. In their world, after all, it is still 1960. Better not tell some of them that they have abolished the maximum wage for players ...
I feel nauseous when I think what she'll be like at the first meeting. Giggling, grinning and talking corporate bollocks and footballing visions. The old men on the committee will be orgasming with delight at her every utterance.
It's easy to see what the woman does, with a simple Google search of her, even Katrien Meire Liar into the searchbox and each and every site listed is something about how she is a victim, or her achievements etc.
We need to really spread this, perhaps try for a trending on Twitter, #KatrienMeireLiar or similar. All with links to get that petition flying, also some well worded e-mails to the right people asking to investigate as to how she has got the position with all the facts we have about the stuff she has said (and I believe she's under investigation for a rule breach already).
The FSF, Orient and Spurs Trusts have already tweeted support for the petition. We are now asking for support from 13 more friendly Trusts, including our new friends at Blackburn, who could probably nominate a chicken to take Meire's place.

Her appointment gives us much more scope to embarrass her, especially when one of the stained-trouser brigade of old men who appointed her is visiting the Valley, so there is a plus side to this.

I'm not surprised her appointment to the FA Council wasn't mentioned officially by the club. Charlton fans mobilise to cause her maximum aggravation and embarrassment once they find out! Its just another lesson that she refuses to learn.

The information that she was one of the "elected" reps came directly from the FA in response to a fan's query. I have tweeted the EFL asking them to explain their selection/ election process, but, surprise, surprise, no reply.

If I knew about this last week, I definitely would have asked Martin Glenn about this whilst on holiday with him! I'm seeing him next weekend so will definitely put it to him then

I can only assume they pick numbers out of a hat.
Collect 5 promotional crisp packets and become an EFL executive

Could be the person with the biggest grin gets a place?

Thank you for contacting The Football Association.
In answer to your enquiry about the appointment of Katrien Meire to the FA Council please find the process which led to her joining the council detailed below.
The English Football League has the right to nominate eight representatives on to the FA Council. It is a matter for The EFL to decide who is best placed to represent their interests.
In terms of these eight places, six people come from the EFL’s Board and it allows its 72 member clubs to elect the other two places. Katrien Meire is one of these two club-elected representatives and will accordingly serve on the FA Council for this season.
The FA has no say in these eight appointments, the EFL board and its 72 member clubs are entitled to nominate the candidates they feel are best placed to represent them.
I hope this clarifies the matter for you.
Yes, thanks the FA it clarifies things well, so you have no say about who sits on your Council. Nice one, the biggest liability to a FL Club in England, the CEO of a regime which is leading it to destruction has just been appointed on to your Council.

Maybe present him with the petition. Then get his head tested.
So have I read that right, someone has elected Katrien to this Council??? Who in their right mind would be doing that?
If she can interview 20 head coach candidates in a day...maybe she can give a gentle hand to 72 members clubs... the day before the famous great election that everyone talks and knows about.....
Just suggesting what most are thinking and what is most likely the thing closest to the truth, because otherwise it completely doesn't make any sense at all. She will be elected because she stands out and no one cares enough to do better thorough research and think carefully about it.
If she was as bad as she is and looked like little moe from eastenders then no one would have elected her.
I personally don't think she is much of a sort. She is a stupid but potentially charming woman to the right kind of gullible man that's mostly surrounded by men in the particular line of work.
It's good because I re-worded most of the 1st sentence so it had no flag possibility.

Say what?
Seriously?
My partner is his daughter so yes. Had a nice week in Spain. I'll happily put it to him next time I see him
in a reply elsewhere the FA say that they have no control over whom the EFL decide to appoint to the Council so this petition needs to really be sent to the EFL when finished.
