  • I've not read posts on here but here is my take on it-: Firstly KM is assuming everyone has access to the internet and a printer to be able to purchase on-line and print own tickets, well guess what KM they don't!!
As for me I usually have to wait until the Friday evening or Saturday morning before a home game to know if I'm coming down to a match due to work commitments. I've not been for 2 seasons due to this (and my health issues of course), but now I've decided not to drive from Leicestershire down to Charlton to watch a match this season at all (despite more of an opportunity this coming season due to changes at work), as I refuse to have to pay extra just because I am unable to know what's happening work wise until late in the day. Its another way of her abusing her 'customer-base' and even people I know who 'support' her are saying this is a massive own goal for her. Any CEO who actively drives walk-up or late arrivals away from their business is a CEO who needs to go and go NOW!! I'm absolutely disgusted!!

Ha, ha very good CE, but lets not let anything get in the way of a good old moan at the regime eh!

Maybe its the club's way of getting back at the protesting fans that are not renewing!

And it's really easy to make light of the difficulties this will create for others.

I very often these days decide on the morning of the match whether I can go or if someone is coming with me. I don't live far from The Valley so I generally roll down there at about 10:30 and get my tickets. If I'm right that the match that day will be taken offline it means I have to know the day before. What on earth has made the club decide to

For those arguing this is in some way illegal are wrong. The club have the right to do this. They are arseholes but well within consumer law.

Likewise I as a customer have the right to say "up yours" with your policy. They want my business ? Then make it as easy for me as possible to spend my money not as difficult as possible.

    These people are raving lunatics.

My understanding is online sales will be available until 1pm on a matchday.
Except the website is shockingly bad and not everyone can or wants to buy online.
    Latest ONS stats:

10.2% of the adult population has NEVER used the internet still buying from the top shelf.

Shall we feed that back to the club as more positive feedback then?

Has anyone discovered why she buggered off ? Maybe it was over these changes .
I can't get my head round why you have to pay a booking fee when you are buying over the counter.

Oh yeah they want me to buy a season ticket. Why didn't I think of that ?

I totally agree with you. Last night I tried to buy tickets for Bury online and it wouldn't let me buy them because I was unable to link the other person going with me who was already in the database when asked to fill in their details.

I find it amazing the club make it so difficult for them to take your money.
    It's even worse on mobile.
  • Well at least it was described as an "undisclosed fee"

Matchday ticket prices for the upcoming season have been announced with adults priced from just £17
The club have announced matchday ticket prices for the new season which include cheapest seats priced at £17 for adults, £10 for Under 18s and £3 for U11s – the cheapest adult ticket is £1 cheaper than when the club were last in the third tier five years ago.

There is also a reduction in the most expensive zones with Zone 1 adult seats 12% cheaper than last season.

Under 18/Student prices will be £10 across all areas of the stadium with no increase on the match day. Under 11 prices will be £5 across all areas of the stadium and £3 in the Family Stand with no increase on the matchday.

For three gold fixtures – Millwall, Gillingham and Sheffield United – there will be a £2-£3 increase for Adults, Over 65s and Under 21s.

The club has benchmarked all ticket prices against the prices of teams in SkyBet League One last season and remains committed to offering all Charlton supporters affordable ticket pricing.

The club is looking to drive its ticket purchasing online, to reduce queues for fans at the ticket office on matchday and bring Charlton in line with its competitors. As part of that process, online match ticket prices will no longer incur a booking fee. Tickets purchased online will be £2.50 cheaper per booking than purchases in person or via telephone bookings which will incur a transaction fee.

Ticketing staff are available to speak to from 9am – 5pm each weekday, except Thursday afternoons, to help anyone needing assistance to set-up an online account and a staffed portal will be made available at The Valley ahead of the start of the season for anyone who needs further assistance with the process.

Two hours before kick-off, matchday ticket prices will increase by £3 for adults, over 65s and U21s. These tickets will not include a transaction fee and, contrary to reports, will not incur an extra £5.50 charge should they be purchased in the last two hours before kick-off.

Increasing the price on the day of purchase is commonplace within football clubs and the measures have been taken to reduce the massive queues for fans, which put a real strain on the ticket office in the hours leading up to kick-off.

Season tickets for 2016-17 are still available from £175, one of the cheapest prices in EFL, working out at less than £8 per game.
The full matchday ticket prices are below:

Good to see that they'd understood that the £5.50 mentioned was both the booking fee and the matchday/late payment fee. Or maybe they didn't....

When she realised that she wasn't working for the best boss in the whole wide world is my guess. Maybe wrong though. ;)
  • so it's 'just' £3 extra on a matchday, ie an additional 50p, but will mean I will still pay £26 to watch Shrewsbury and £29 to watch us lose to Millwall (East Stand, Block F)
  • All seems pretty clear, except the cut off time for online sales, if there is one.

Surly you don't expect them to cover EVERTHING first time, CE !

Bound to be amendmets, amendments about amendments and then total chaos when NO-ONE knows what's happening as ko approaches on 13th August !

  • "Tickets purchased online will be £2.50 cheaper per booking than purchases in person or via telephone bookings which will incur a transaction fee."

Weaselly-worded way of saying "we're slapping a £2.50 surcharge on using our own ticket office".

they would have been better just reducing on-line sales by £2.50 so incentivising buying on line

Ok. I just phoned the ticket office.

Online sales are available up to 2 hours before kick off, so 1pm for a 3pm ko.

You can print your own tickets free or if you have a smart phone you scan at the turnstile for free.

Re the online system, you can preload your associates without buying tickets.

Log in and go to "Your Account" to do so.

The reason for entering details of associates ie family & friends, is so that you can list the purchases against their names like you do when you phone up. This will give them a record of purchase if needed at a later date for priority.

The club then e mail your associates, to confirm they know you etc etc. So if this is all done beforehand, you should be good to go, when you wish to buy tickets.

I'll give it a go for my 8 or so.
  • I have this morning purchased my four Bury tickets online and they are apparently awaiting collection at the Valley. It took two long phone calls with members of staff, and there was a fault with the online purchase from the Charlton side, where several times everything collapsed when you said you were going to collect them, but that page insisted on a verified address to send the tickets to, and even if you verified it then stopped moving on.
One member of staff alluded to glitches.
The blanket answer to why I couldn't simply go to the ground and buy them in cash was that 'it was the club decision'. So despite a long time faffing with a flawed system this morning, I am still going to the Valley anyway. It was an unnecessary hurdle, a hindrance in making a simple and easy purchase.
They don't take American Express by the way.
There must be a penalty free system for flexible fans who don't want to buy online, the present system is simply alienating.

I just made the details up - Mickey Mouse is likely to be receiving some marketing material from Charlton very soon.
  • Emphasise the punishments that come with buying late and/or buying in person.

Or pre-load the ticket price with possible additional costs and emphasise the discounts people can enjoy by buying early and/or buying online.

With a preference for confrontation over a discussion this smells of SWMBO.

I guess this is a 'clever' attempt to force more season ticket sales, i.e. with a season ticket you'll avoid the potential punishments that come with following the club on a match by match basis. I'm sure many will now renew, but many will not bother turning up at all. It just makes the club look shitty for a net gain of zero.
  • i thought it sounded like my friend Tony's idea.

That reminds me - I've got a great photo of you giving Tone a hard time at the POTY do!
I've never seen that photo, if I remember though you persuaded me, mid giving him a piece of my mind, to pose for a happy with tone photo?

I don't think I had an arm around his neck or was giving the thumbs up to the camera. God I hope not.
@Alwaysneil the photo was my idea - I saw you giving Tone a hard time so shouted 'Neil! Tone! Photo!' He looks downtrodden and, as I had had 10 pints of wine by then, I shook the camera resulting in your hand being blurred. This resulted in you looking like you are doing a wanker sign at him (actually perhaps you were?)

@ElfsborgAddick saw a number of my POTY pics when I was pissed. I can assure you that no other person has seen this

........ bit unfair on my dear friend Mickey, he gets a bit pissed off with people doing that, especially with that bunch of 'Looney Tunes' at the Valley.
  • So do we think prices are reasonable?

So a surprise present of tickets to a game isn't possible is it. As the Stasi need to 'verify' those attending.

Yes Match-Day prices are reasonable unless your a Student and have paid for a season-ticket in one of the top three Zones

So when people register their young children as associates will they be contacting them to make sure they are known to their parents?

They don't contact anyone, that is bollocks. I registered my wife, daughter and father-in-law using email addresses that are "mine" and I haven't had a single question asking me if I am known to me.

The online system is crap. Once again they've made a bum purchase.
