  • He could do a lot better than working under Roland.
  • As others have said, you'd have to be mad to get yourself involved in this shambles, especially at a time in your career where your value is at its peak (to date). How attractive can the salary be? Would 6-9months (which given their track record is the most you could plan for at this stage) really be enough to make this worthwhile? even with any 'guaranteed' change in direction in terms of authority over transfers, who plays etc, the place is a circus and there'll be a hundred and one other decisions that they'll inevitably cock-up. The only appeal I can see is that if it goes pear shaped through the manager doing a bad job, there's a get out in terms blaming the regime that no one would likely argue with. Not a great reason to take on a new job though!

    The rumors are true :(
Not quite. TalkShite saying that CW and Duchatelet had meet with assurances being given blah blah. Seems that nothing other than permission has been given by Northampton. Feel even more inclined to believe that once he's spoken with our visionary he'll tell us to jog on.
  • Question for the press to ask if Wilder takes the job: will the new chief scout/head of recruitment, assuming one is ever appointed, report to Wilder or to Katrien Meire?

A good question. In my mind both Wilder and the Chief Scout would report to a Director of Football (assuming we ever appoint one), who would in turn report to the CEO. As mentioned elsewhere on the thread I'm a fan of the "continental" method where scouting, recruitment, and coaching have some degrees of separation to provide a checks and balances method.

He'll have done very well to have met Roly in London. No doubt he has met him at Sint Truiden's ground.
"And in 3 months Chris you will be sitting in the dug out over there"

You need to read the statement CW, is obviously keen to go to you lot.

We cannot compete with the budget that you will have compared to us. I can guarantee you this much expect to see a lot of players go, he overturned our squad within 12 months.

If he has money to spend, with a big budget I do not see how you wont do well next season.

TBH, we already expect to see a lot of players go; unfortunately, not the ones we want to see go.

Where does that leave Wim De Corte, and does anyone care?

still asleep in his "English 101" lesson, nobody can be bothered to wake him.
  • I assume Riga would have had bonus and relegation clauses in his contract when he took over.

I'd be surprised if he's been to Belgium without sanction from NTFC, but there's no doubt at all that he had been approached last week.

I hope KM had the same clauses

  • Ditto Large. I wonder why he would ask for such advice and then not take it based on promises from a man with RD's record. Money, possibly.

He'd be a decent appointment in my opinion, but Meire has to be got out of the way completely or they will just revert to type sooner rather than later.

Because he has been told we will have new owners shortly? Wishful thinking on my part probably.

Anyway it shows how far this club has been run down if we are now getting excited over poaching a Cobblers manager. It maybe disrespectful to Northampton but I think we should be aiming a little higher. I couldn't care less if he was English or not.
Northampton team would have seen us off last year - especially before March.
  • Judging by the interview with the Northampton chairman he is resigned to it.
Chris Wilder is going to have to be crystal clear towards the fans about the basis of this appointment from the first minute.

The problem is, how can you be critical of the regime that gives you the job?

I suppose I am saying that if Wilder isn't overtly critical, in detail, then I will view him with suspicion.

He may say what's done is done, fresh start and all that, but if he is taking a job that has been a series of car crashes without knowing the score he is heading for disaster. If he knows the problems then he needs to start convincing a fan like me that he knows the score, or how will I be able to know if he is going to do things completely and utterly differently?

One way is to start by announcing Chris Wilder's choice of Head Scout, one he has worked with for many years past.

I wish him and Alan Knill well if they constantly resist the interference from above. If they are ruckers then we may have a way out, but if they are floppers we are doomed to more crap.

Pissed up in the west stand car park. Basically no change from the last 5 months.
  • Northampton's home gate towards the end of this season has been between 5,000 and 7,000. Charlton's attendance next season is not going to be much higher than that especially with the boycott. As home attendance is more than 90% of football income in this league how is Charlton's budget going to be significantly bigger than Northampton's without infringing FFP?

Der der der...Ademola Lookman, der der der
  • Colin was right and we're getting an English coach. The end is nigh.

Very good question. Let's hope Chris Wilder asks it
