Regrettably there has always been fighting between fans - well for the 40 years or so I’ve been going to professional boxing.
I’m at an annual black tie do next Tuesday (amateur) that I’ve been going to for years and that will be different, albeit it gets a bit messy in the pub afterwards at around 2am. I learned years ago always to book the next day off work!
two fight of the year contenders tonight with Leather vs Foot ( Leather by KO for me) the first 4 rds should be brutal as there is real bad blood
Then a very decent rematch between Liam Smith and Liam williams
First fight Smith missed weight and looked shocking tbh it was a dirty fight all the way through and although i fully accept that Smith planted a nut on Williams which caused the fight to be stopped, if you watch the full rd 5 to 10 secs earlier Williams does the exact same thing and imo this caused smith to do it back,
This time i dont think Smith has ever taken a fight more seriously , he is in tremendous shape and from people that regularly spar with him the power and timing is absolutely spot on
Williams will want to prove he didn't quit or gas , and will be out to prove a point
Liam Smith by KO or TKO 8-10 for me
but its a sit down get the Gin out and really enjoy what could turn out to be a truly magnificent and memorable UK card
How'd you have the Leather/Foot fight @nth london addick ? I missed it, know it was a UD for Leather but majority of comments on twitter had Foot just edging it.
I thought Leather threw the classy punches all night but didn’t work hard enough and even with the deductions I had foot winning by 1 can see how it went his way though
Foot fought a messy intense fight but used his elbows and head in ways I don’t like but never lost a point for elbow or head
I really like Leather he has great punches in his locker
The mind is fixed and has been for the last 12 months Imo it’s the body and desire that’s the biggest hurdle , I genuinely believe the desire is there and you only need to look at how Deontay wilder throws to realise he would ko wilder the second he started to open his body to throw a windmill right
AJ is just focusing on size and strength and not going into deep water late on he is reverting to the body builder Tyson has always called him and the only way AJ beats Tyson is to be 17stone max or just under
But that negates his power and AJ has one vulnerability and that is he is not the best timed boxer his defence and power are often out of time and he has struggled to overcome this since amateurs , we are talking the finest margins here I am not saying AJ is shit at all or even not world class as he is, Tyson os not blessed with devastating power but he has the best timing of all of them he has the best technique of all of them and he has the best footwork and lateral movement of all of them
Those three components make him the biggest threat to AJ
This knowledge has given Tyson the desire needed to get fit and motivated

Joshua has been written off by many over the years as too muscle bound, the new Frank Bruno etc and has always silenced the critics. OK he has not fought anyone of note beyond Klitschko so a relative easy journey of hand picked cab drivers and over - hyped matches like Whyte, Martin etc. Whilst he has been protected it also comes down to the fact it's an appalling era for heavyweight boxing and there are only a handful of real half decent names in the game, Wilder, Klitschko and Fury being them with maybe a couple of others on the periphery.
The economics of boxing mean that none of the "top rated" fighters will fight each other straight away because stringing it out, building up an 0 (albeit against tomato cans) and hyping yourself and ergo the eventual clash when you do step in with someone who doesn't look like he will be driving an Uber the following day will be worth it purse wise and worth the risk of losing and therefore potentially substantially reducing your future earning /power in an age where having a perfect W record seems to superficially hold more esteem than fighting absolutely everybody as and when as in days of yesterday.
When Klitschko floored him I thought maybe the critics had called it right and I was going to be exposed as another "AJ fanboy" who has been suckered into the masterful PR and "badboy done good" narrative.
For the record I have no time for that bollocks. I don't like the cynical way he or those around him exploit the bit of weed dealing and general asbo-ness of his youth and have tried to make out he was some sort of gangsta as the kids would say....(he is not and when put against some of the real "bad asses" in the sport he's comparatively a boy scout.) so as to somehow enhance his "journey" to success.
He is a BBC, media - friendly PR dream in looks, conduct and charisma albeit many find bland.
For all of that it does not detract from the fact he can actually box, can take a punch and has got a ruthlessness that wipes away the tv friendly persona in the flick of a switch....he destroyed Whyte who was said to be a test and proved his worth at this level in his recover and subsequent demolition of an albeit past prime Wlad.
There is only really Wilder and Fury that will test him and in my opinion he beats both.
I would like to see him face Wilder first and also see Fury face Wilder....the Brits win both fights in my book.
I really like Fury, his personality and his fighting ability....he is a hard, scary man that can box and box very well for someone of such freakish size.
I think that a fight in the next 2 years between a fully fit and functioning Fury and a Joshua in his prime will be (on paper) one of the biggest domestic dust ups for generations and one of the best heavyweight pair ups for years. Hopefully it would live up to the (bound to be dreadful hype) and hopefully it will happen.
So many variables, Fury's desire, promoter's and tv stations agendas and sanctioning bodies politics but we can hope.
I ain’t writing him off far from it , I just think and it’s a personal opion n that he has leveled off there’s no more going to come from him and he is now in an elite level
He is far above Whyte, Miller, Parker and wilder
But and this is the key if AJ goes into any of those above over 17 stone it’s a harder night than it should be
If he goes in heavier than 17 stone against a fit fury not only is it a hard night he loses
I don’t buy the PR bullshit around AJ same as I don’t for one min buy the overly nice guy bit
I do buy into his power His fitness His durability and his recovery ability all of which make him an elite level heavy weight
But he has timing issues his footwork is not the best and his head and lateral movement make him easy to hit if he is too heavy and can not move around the ring quick enough from rds 5 onwards
All of which a fit focused fury will exploit , the biggest strength Tyson has is people think he is a thick gypsie bastd and he ain’t he has studied the game he watches boxing videos and clips from years and years gone by he has intensely watched studied and collated stuff from all the greats he is a font of boxing knowledge
But more than that he has learnt the whole craft not just one or two aspects
It’s heany weight boxing the right punch from any of them at the right time and it’s game over
But you can’t beat what you can’t hit and that’s the best defence of any boxer it is ultimately what the art is
Hit without getting hit and Tyson was the best there was out there however right now AJ is the best at hitting and that’s why this fight is a dream fight for Hearn
But be prepared for a boring 12 rd boxing match not a fight that AJ would need it to be
What I get a sense of is that Fury, for all the fluff, thinks about boxing, and talks about the sweet science etc, whereas AJ has a sadistic streak and enjoys hurting people, which is at odds to their public personas.
If fury can dictate the pace he wins 12 rounds, but I think AJ can deck him... Depends if AJ is overly muscled and of Fury is overly fat!
Amir Khan in im a celeb. Thought he was in training to fight again soon. He done half talk some bollocks.
Hopefully now everyone will see him for the shit talker he is. He's not been relevant in boxing for years, but still believes he has some allah given right to fight Mayweather, and still calls him out even though he's retired!
Poorly advised has had family members shit on him and take from him
A very public near breakdown Event over his old woman
Yet has been fearless in pursuit of greatness yeah he came up short on occasions but he wanted to fight the best out there and got in and done it
The kell brook va khan is just this decades Hatton vs Witter
Both know that either fighter could’ve won and both know that if they lost that was the end of road better to duck and avoid and play the game and earn more
Both khan and kell got fights on the back of the simmering fake rivalry that they would not have got in any other circumstances
They both use each others name to get fights it’s part of the charade
I am annoyed he has gone in the jungle same as I was annoyed Froch went dancing
We will find out soon enough mate and I can only pray one of the boxers I sponsor is fortunate to get on the card and I can get my ringside seats to watch it as part of my deal
Otherwise that’s a £1500-£2500 fight Per ticket and I can’t see me being in a position to pay that

Yes I also have some sympathy for Khan and I know some of the hangers on he has supported.
I'm not a medic of course but whenever he speaks (not just how but the way he repeats himself) could be an indication of being 'punchy'. He has taken some serious blows.

Prices are becoming sillier by the card but I couldn't not be at ringside for AJ/Fury. I'm also in Vegas in May next year and hoping Golovkin/Canelo 2 takes place on the 5 May in Vegas - it will take place then, I'm sure, but could be Dallas.
Add to that Groves/Eubank and it could be an expensive year!!
