Not just because Charlton cost me 198 on my acca, but I so hoped that if we had added to last weeks great performance we could have got a bit of momentum.
So many positive signs last week just seem to have evaporated
If the team cannot be up for that game then I think we are finished for this season. The thought of relegation so soon after breaking records to get out of League 1 a few years ago is just so utterly heart-breaking.
Worse game I've seen this season. Best performer was probably the ref. Windy conditions yet the ball was always in the air. They (and their kit) were bad. We were a lot worse.
Not good enough all round - the squad NGE, the points tally NGE, the league position NGE, the goal difference NGE, Karel Fraeye's appointment NGE, appointing JR so late NGE, no Championship experience NGE, inevitable relegation NGE. Thanks RD and KM. Thank you for ruining our football club.
Just arrived home very unhappy, as I suspect many others will be feeling too. However every cloud has a silver lining, which means the more of us who are upset the happier our resident troll will be. I think you know who I mean, the one who says we should all basically be like them, and does not resist snide remarks because other people are other people. Kerching, got that off my chest, so Mr Troll enjoy this weekend as I'm sure you will.
Today was back to the past, and I fear a stare at the future. This regime might have their deluded ideas about how to make us in their image, but as for Roland not doing failure, well Roland I reckon you're in for a new experience because we are going down.
Chris Solly was amazingly stupid to give away a clear penalty, and an admirable in many ways Bristol City did the rest.
See that's the big thing you're missing Roland, you can create what you like, but there are other teams, clubs, managers, players and supporters in this division to contend with. Your theory might work in an eternity of Charlton Athletic always playing Charlton Athletic, but we exist (for a brief while) in a context, a context you Roland have no interest in acknowledging.
Did we have a corner? Did we have an attempt on goal? If we did I missed them. We had a farcical moment when one down when the referee eschewing a second penalty to Bristol City allowed play to continue, and led to Henderson batting and stretching to get a loose ball away like a cat playing with a fringe on a curtain. Bristol City ought to have scored then, but were so stunned by our utter ineptitude their players didn't make the effort to score what looked like a buy one get one free gift of a goal.
That meant the game continued and we stupidly held on to some hope whereas a second goal might have at least led to some juicy protesting which ought to remain the number one focus if we want to see a real football club attempting real football. As it is we have a situation where we basically continue Fraeye/Luzon/Peeters style trying to make a cake with only salt and pepper!
Of our players, well Jordan Cousins once again gave everything, but anything attempted was undone by Mac, and Bergditch, an unfit now Jacko, and later a disgraceful Reza who seems to exist only to say 'look at me I'm on a football pitch'. Today was the same bad as all season, and they say it's the hope that kills you, well relax guys because it seems all hope is gone.
To be fair after Bristol did park the bus in front of their goal after they scored. Not a lot wrong with the desire just the quality. Maybe a few too many let themselves get frustrated.
Really ? Don't think there was anywhere near as much bus parking as we would have employed had we been 1-0 up, in fact I think it looked more likely that they'd get a second than us an equaliser.
We had 70 minutes to equalise, we didn't come close, it wasn't because they "parked the bus".
What an awful spectacle that was, regardless of the result.
Our unique combination of wrongheaded strategy and panic tactics has left us with a team so disjointed and lacking in confidence that I can't tell the good players from the bad. No way are we pulling this round now.

Was it a penalty?
Good players from the bad , don't you mean the bad from the absolute hopeless , all poor ..
Just all too slow and predictable. It was like every player needed to take a couple of touches of the ball to give himself time to think what to do with it next.
The one time when they shifted it quick, Solly got in on the right side.
Felt sorry for Fox. Yes he had a shocking game, but to cheer him off was very harsh and any confidence he had left will surely now be gone.
We saw a side this afternoon that looks as if it isn't up for the battle. The opposition looked keen, worked hard in the centre, and defended well. Time exists to put things right, perhaps, but the Charlton team looked almost ready for relegation. I thought of the tenacity shown, repeatedly, by the sides that Lennie Lawrence put out all those years ago. Duchatelet has ruined CAFC and if we go down, supporters will walk away. It's such a shame.
Absolute rubbish performance. Highlight for me was treading in horse shit walking down Floyd Road, after that the afternoon just got worse. I have never ever slated one of our players before but will make an exception today Morgan Fox was total toilet.

We were very poor - but they set themselves up to defend and try to get us on the break - which they did. Thought the penalty was a bit soft and another ref might not have given it. None of the players had particularly good games and a few - especially Fox and Bergditch were awful. Please loan in a decent left back! Makienok was back to his usual. I actually thought Ba looked really good when he came on...
Don't know if winning last week made it worse, but that was as bad as anything this season. There was no creativity whatsoever, the only variation on belting it at Makienok was to hoof it to Reza. Neither tactic was exactly productive.
Thought Cousins was worth his wages, but quite a few should be ashamed of themselves.
Well, that's that then I guess. Another groundhog day..... different game, same shit. Why oh why just for once can't we start on the front foot and have go! Can't even be bothered to single out individual players, too many too bad. No creativity, toothless up front, nothing in midfield, been like it all season. After 50 years there is no way I'm watching third division shite with these tossers in charge .. the only way is down. Good luck to those who will battle on but I've had enough.
Shit game between two awful sides. Clueless. Struggling to think of any player who comes out of that with any credit. I left when Makienok managed to head a pinpoint cross in the 6 yard box BACKWARDS!! Wtf?? Going down, totally convinced of that. Well done Roland,Meire and Murray, systematically ruined this great club of ours.
All of them were a disgrace from Hendersons non save of the pen and frightened little boy Fox to Jackson half a yard behind and anonymous Cousins through to the waste of height Mak. None of them are fit to wear the shirt. And on one of the windiest days this year whose idea was it to keep heading or kicking the ball in the air for 85 mins. Fuck off Roland fuck off Meire and take those poor excuses of footballers with you. To those that weren't there, league one is where we will be playing next season, we don't have any men in our team for a relegation fight! Tossers!
I was surprised at the initial line up, I think we need to play 4-4-2 with a possibility of moving from that but to start 4-4-2.
I think the players aren't good enough to change ideas and to and I think we were trying for 4-3-3 from the start. Mistake from Riga.
I think Simon needs gingering up for every game. A bit like a racing horse that acts like a donkey. We should employ someone to insert an inch cube of ginger into an apprise place before the start of the game and this may make his effort more reliable.
Shit game, shit ref. Missed the pen as I was getting up for the "stand up if you want them out" in the 19th minute. However think they should have had another shortly afterwards. As for the wall at the free kick when Rezza got pulled down, it was at most 6-7 yards away from the ball.

M8 we do not need a left back, we are losing games because our midfield is fecking shocking, no creativity, cannot dominate the opposition for no longer than a minute, weak and cannot hold possession for longer than a minute. Jacko is a club legend and i like him but come on guys should not be in the starting 11 , its like playing with a man short, bloody ridiculous now.
Totally fucking useless that's why I never got excited about last week's win. We are bottom and deserve to be. Bolton are going through the motions and are better than us. If we had messi and Ronaldo up front our clueless midfield and management would do naff all to create anything. .....get ready as I said 2 months ago league 1 here we come.

Cousins wasn't anonymous, in my opinion. Was always wanting the ball and had two runs through the middle stopped by fouls (for which one player was booked and the other not!?)

Terrible penalty to give away from Solly, strangely Riga said to BBC London that he didnt think it was a pen but looked really clear from where I was
always wanting the ball and had two runs through the middle stopped by fouls (for which one player was booked and the other not!?)
