A decent coach would have won that yesterday, motivation with a drive of intent to go for the killing the oppo with a 3rd goal when 2 up after 25 mins. Instead at half time it is 2-2, madness....Heskey scored ffs.
For some reason, we absolutely kak ourselves and remember we don`t feel happy unless we concede a few.
No strength in depth, Diarra could have dominated that midfield instead has had to play cb next to a good youth prospect.
In Reza, Lookman and Vaz Te are 3 players whose movement could get us very excited, yet they use what they have and don`t know where each other will be.
You don`t have to know anything about football to know that if your team cannot win at home v bottom of the league, then you are no better than them.
Manager in, who has a decent standards of dealing with decent footballers. Who can give this lot a kick up the backside and get them working hard and stop feeling sorry for themselves.
difficult to see any positives in anyway at the moment.
I just cant see what RD is up to. I thought he was in this game to prove his "system" is the way forward and/or to make some sort of profit. If its a profit he wants what successful CEO with £500million made puts someone in charge of his flag ship with absolutely no experience ? i think he did it BECAUSE he wanted a female in charge and nothing else. As for the appointment of someone in charge of a Belgium 3rd division team ??? the only answer to this is RDs ego---its sticking to his "Euro Plan".
Surely if your pissing money away instead of breaking even or making some sort of profit you would take a look about and get people in who steady the business , after stabilisation you take a look at the future and decide if your original plan is workable------as he isnt doing this but just seemingly carrying on to relegation it has to be his ego nothing else.
Has it been worse ? yes defo. We finished one place out of the relegation places in the early 70s then had to win our last game at home to stay up the following year and then went down the next. Awful awful football---journeymen, cast offs and the ground falling down. The crowds drifted away and people had had enough of CAFC. You were met with "use to go but they are shit" when asking who you supported. It took decades to get the fans back DECADES and will again.
They seem to think that the gaps appering in the crowds can be filled with BAME or GL , BAFTA or some other group ---good luck with that.
Maybe its RD who has a touch of Xenophobia ?
The puppet from Belgium third division is on record as saying the squad is good enough----the CEO thinks only 2 % of fans are pissed off----RD is getting "its all fine skipper" as we head towards an ice burg.
We need the CEO replaced and a manger who can KEEP US UP. We wont get RDs millions that ear marked for his family(he is in his mid 70z) so it will be cast offs, but its still possible to keep us up.
No worries then because all they have ever promised us is to be competitive, relegated and competitive seems yo have been overlooked !
almost 50 years for me going down there and i will still rack up to see mates---never expect much from CAFC and get even less----maybe that should be the clubs moto.
didn't get there till HT as was at daughters school play....wow wish I hadn't bothered.
total lack of confidence running through the side at the moment, Cousins needs a break out the side, hopefully Diarra can get back in the midfield asap.
As for the sarcastic cheering when Mak won a header, baffles me how people think that will help his confidence, there's definitely a player in there as we saw earlier in the season, we just need to play more to his strengths rather than lump of high in the sky with no one around him
difficult to see any positives in anyway at the moment.

Killer & Flash - Who with though? The hopeless Ba? Bergdych, Sarr, Morgan Fox? There was nobody on the bench to do that job
Simple solution Killer & Flash, Sarr on, Diarra into Midfield and play a diamond formation, Lookman was spent and as I said he's just a kid with huge potential his 2 goals were his work for the night, wrap him up keep him warm and ready for Saturday. Jackson as much as he is adored by all (me included) can't play Saturday Tuesday, Saturday, 45 min's and off he goes & ready for another 60 mins Vs Burnley.
Sarr against Heskey?
Our biggest problem is against physical teams, as our CBs are too inexperienced/slight or are midfielders played our of position. We get bullied at the back, which is why our record against the teams around us is so poor, as most have a big number 9.
Heskey last night gave Lennon and Diarra a torrid time. Ismael Miller for Huddesfield gave our defence a torrid time. You'd have thought he was Drogba at his peak! Then with better teams, Daryl Murphy who again our CBs couldn't deal with.
One, preferably two experienced CBs are an essential in January
After 48 hours of traveling, I missed Lookmans first goal by 15 seconds! First thing I noticed as I walked up the steps was the lack of noise. I honestly didn't know if we'd almost scored, or scored. On taking my seat, I was shocked at the size of the crowd. Maybe 6/7 thousand I thought. A lovely move for the second, great reverse pass by Reza? and a terrific composed finish by Lookman. After that the midfield started to get overrun. A Bolton goal seemed inevitable and duly arrived. I honestly think that a packed Valley getting behind the team would have given us the edge and seen us home to victory. As it was, it seemed like a reserve game. I wasn't worried about relegation before seeing them, now I am. Some of these players are terrified of trying anything in case they loose the ball. Good individually, but collectively, a rabble. We need a good manager to organise them, and instill some confidence. But without a crowd behind them, I think we're doomed.
Get a decent Playmaker or 2 in January then we won't spent most of every single match without the ball. Jordan Cousins would be ideal as the Water carrier to a mid field general, Because as i tried to say last season his passing is too hit and miss to fill this vital role. JBH final pass and his shooting is off which is making him half the player from last season. As Brighton are finding out, a fit Dale Stevens who has movement from forwards and fellow mid fielders is the type of Midfielder we need now, But we will get someone who has not played since the summer and was good 3 years ago.
Last time match ? Good movement for 25 minutes, then Bolton were the better team for the rest of the match.
I thought the front 3's, work rate was good even thou Vaz Te, like Watt prefers the ball at his feet to running in behind.
Found the sarcastic Cheers for Big Mak poor, He won most of his header against Sheff Wed,Hull, and QPR at home despite not winning a header against Ipswich when he was very poor. IF and Only IF, Lookman had a injury issue, then put KAG on then, Because it felt that Simon was put on as much for his defensive work at corners. We had no mid field options other than Ba.
These are tough times to be a CAFC Fanatic (hasn't it always ?)
True hero's everyone who was there last night,as the trains were messed on some lines (Purley caused me loads of Problems) plus driving to night games is no easier with the traffic problems.
A boycott would be the easy answer ? Remember the Dunkirk spirit ? If you do, you shouldn't be going to night matches anyway in the winter Grandad !
Its quite obvious that the current owners have no intentions of taking our club further and are quite simply in it for the money. Unfortunately, they dont realise that without investment they wont make any money. Roland bought Standard cheap and sold it for a profit and got what he wanted. Its not going to work over here unless he employs a Manager (NOT HEAD COACH) to take us back to where we belong. I have heard rumours that many Managers have gone for the job but they just wont pay the money and give them full control of the club. The premiership is where he will make money. Im still in aw to why we have lent our best striker to Cardiff, when in actual fact we need him more now than we ever did. He scored last night for Cardiff and it made me feel sick. Again, the owners have lent Watt to cardiff for money reasons and nothing else. I am sick and tired of the Belgium owners who really do not care one bit about our club. When is this going to end??
For me the most basic change required is to restore the position of manager.
IMO the removal of the title and duties was not a subtle change in any way, shape or form. This was a naked statement of power by RD and fundamental to his suffocating, controlling methods.
The fact that RD had the temerity to go toe to toe with CP on football issues said everything to me about the (then) new owner. CP’s long successful playing career, culminating in his England caps, his fledgeling coaching career under Sven Goran Eriksson and successful managerial start meant nothing to RD as he undermined him and bullied him in a way that made it impossible for him to work successfully. And this from a man whose football knowledge could be written on the back of one of the microchips that he produces.
Once CP was out of the way, every facet of his new acquisition was under his power - the very thing that he craved. This is the reason I fear for Charlton. RD does not take advice from anyone other than those who he employs under his puppet regime as advisers and analysts.
If he can’t change direction and actually invest in the knowledge and experience of a serious manager who is allowed some licence to be his own man, we are surely doomed.
We were totally complacent after the 2nd goal went in, and when Bolton got one back you could see any fragile shred of confidence just melt away. That defeat at Brighton was in everyones mind and history very nearly repeated itself.
The second half was sheer misery. No plan, no tactics, no spirit, no intent.
I really don't think RD is likely to throw in the towel though. I think his investment in the infrastructure (stadium, training complex) is a long term play, and he will be hoping to bring through and then sell more youngsters from the academy. He and KM will bring in 2 or 3 experienced players in January to attempt to keep us up, and if successful then we go through the same routine in the summer - let the better players go, bring in cheaper european imports in the hope of one or two of the gambles coming off, rely on loan and out of contract players alongside youngsters to make up the numbers. Their arrogance and belligerence will probably mean that KF will be given the rest of the season, or else that another inexperienced muppet comes in to continue the struggle. Zero chance of a u-turn on the question of an experienced manager or proper investment in the playing side.
Thank christ Charlton isn't the only thing I care about in my life or I'd be swinging on a rope today.
Mass boycottonly option .... And all interaction with the club has the same comment 'we are not coming back until you hire an actual manager and buy some actual players ... Good bye'

The official attendance was over 12,000. Can't see any way there were that many there unless the bars and loos were doing a roaring trade
As I said in another thread. The boycott is already happening. It may not be a co-ordinated campaign, but people are turning their backs on the club.
A boycott is one thing. What is happening now is fans, many long term, are turning their backs on the club. This should be worrying the hell out of KM and RD. It makes the 20,000 target seem utterly laughable.
I wouldn't be surprised if JBG is hiding to protect himself from injury before the Euro's. He's had a season in the championship and knows how physically demanding it is.
If you looked up the definition of bull in a china shop, I'm pretty sure a picture of Cousins would accompany the definition. He was full of drive and running last night, but had the touch of a baby rhino and looked tactically inept.
Did anyone else see Igor outside the West Stand last night? Michelin Man.2.
Up until half time last night I was actually still optimistic that we would be good enough to escape relegation, now I'm not so sure.
As I said in another thread. The boycott is already happening. It may not be a co-ordinated campaign, but people are turning their backs on the club.

But it isn't worrying them, mogodon.
Target 20,000 is merely a very pathetic attempt to show they do care but there's no pulling the wool over our eyes. Too little, too late again.
And as a reminder, KM stated not too long ago that the WHU move to the OS , with its invariable offer of cheap tickets next season does not concern her either.
If nothing changes between now and the announcement of season ticket prices for next season, we've decided to purchase our seats online for each home game - they'll no doubt be available every time. There's no way I'm going to give our cash upfront from now on. We miss out overall financially but that's not my main concern.
So 2 less season tickets to add to those who've already decided to boycott.

Goonerhater has it right. It's taken two years to wreck attendances, but it will take decades to undo the damage. KM and RD are destroying the club. Why do the Trust want to talk to them?
Help, I have just noticed I have a LOL from a Millwallfan, when I put up the bottom of the league table on the Bolton match thread. Does that mean I will be banned now for pleasing one of them

What a truly sad state of affairs.
Thanks a bunch, Roland.
From reading your many comments over the years, you and Mr F are probably amongst the most loyal supporters the club has. You have long remained positive and encouraging when most of us have been falling by the wayside. It only goes to show just how far the disillusionment has now penetrated. KM's reactions mentioned within your post confirms yet again that the current ownership has no empathy with the fans real concerns for the club. The fans and the Belgiums (not meant to be racist) are so far apart we are like black & white. I applaud the stance you have taken not to renew your season tickets for next year - I am sure it was not an easy decision. If many more do the same lets hope it has some effect on the owner to rethink his strategy for the club. However, I will not hold my breath. We will get our Charlton back one day but it might take years before they go.
If depression is frozen anger then there are a lot of depressed or angry people at present and this includes on the pitch. Anger from Cousins at Makienok (after he squandered a chance) spoke of his passion (and strength of character even if he cant hit a ball straight at present) and Makienok's laboured depressed approach. Weak characters , on and off the pitch, are what are not needed right now and those weak characters include Makienok, Fox, Sarr, Ba and possibly Reza. The strong characters are Jackson (by a country mile), Cousins, Solly, Diarra, Bauer, possibly Henderson and these need to be on the pitch whether they are playing well or not. The rest are still to stake their claim as integral parts of the team. For all his enormous talent Gudmundson is showing signs that the issues affecting the team are affecting him negatively and that is a great shame (his manager must sort this out now); he cannot hit a ball where he wants it go at present and his exasperation when he took that free kick in the second half sent more than a frustrated message to his audience. Times like these where shit happens are where as a fan or as a player you either fight or flee. Under Riga it was the old guard and the academy boys that got us through the crap and into the light, not so much the new signings, mainly because if you have been at a club for say 6 years (Jackson) or been brought through as an academy player Solly and Cousins then it means so much more to you. As a fan I embrace the struggle not run away from it. I am powerless to effect change other than vocal support during the game which I give in abundance and other than wear the black and white scarf we are all powerless to change what is happening on the pitch. I think staying away is not good for the players/team morale and game outcomes. Anyway it was sad last night but on to the next more in hope than expectation.
Well, it made my mind up for me, not going to Colchester now, going to save my ticket, petrol and food & drink money and have a better Christmas with the family.

You talk about weak characters ....... but most of those you single out are still very young.
The ones you can say we can depend on, are generally the older, more experienced guys. And there's not enough of them.
Ominously Fraeye is quoted in The Evening Standard today as blaming the players for not rising to the task - not a good sign. If he loses the dressing room, what next?
Mass boycott only option .... And all interaction with the club has the same comment 'we are not coming back until you hire an actual manager and buy some actual players ... Good bye'
