Am friends with a number of North African Muslims based in Paris. Without doubt the most intelligent, hard working, humble, giving people I have met in my life x10. They put myself and most people I know to shame with their kindness, ethics and ethos.
I carried one of their suitcases this teatime to get her 7pm train back to Paris. She nearly missed it because a colleague of hers wife has a gluten intolerance so she wanted to go to Tesco's first to get some gluten-free cereal to take back for her. Another friend was just a couple of streets away from one of the incidents. I'm so glad I know they are shaken but safe, and are frantically trying to track down all their friends.
I'm also fearful for their short-term future time in Paris by being Muslims. Shit like this changes stuff forever. They have had to deal with the awful impact of terrorism on their home countries earlier this year decimating tourism and their economy, and now once again it has impacted them in Paris.
There is fuck all me or you can do about any of this. 9/11 raised the bar from coded coward killings from a distance to chasing devastating martyrdom, and we just have to pray that intelligence services can do the best job they can keeping a lid on it.

Bin Laden was from an extremely wealthy family and privately educated in London. Conversely there are millions of poorly educated accross the world and loads of us in debt and not on the mortgage ladder that don't slaughter innocents in the name of warped ideology.
