Highly recommend the Sweeper podcast. It's really niche football stories from across the world, covering many of the lesser known leagues. Not only are there some really entertaining funny stories, the guys put so much effort into the detail you learn a lot2

'So the rest is politics' is a decent listen too.5

From the writers of the elite-level excellent The Offensive. Boom has started its second series, and is a work of art. I love how the medium of podcasts and the explosion of them has enabled some really gifted, creative and funny writers to find a vehicle for innovative, different work.
I know I'm like a broken record with The Offensive but if you have not listened, you are in for such a treat.
I like the slightly more specialist podcasts but as a mainstream one, the rest is politics is excellent.
What most people think, we have ways of making you talk, history hit are all top tier. Scroobios Pip is someone I love however his podcast has gone way too niche and has sought out guests not only do I not know anything about but are batshit mental and seemingly exist in another world to me1 -
The Offensive was genius... will have to check out Boom. I enjoyed Jackie the Ripper
Currently battling m way through a podcast on the murdaugh murders. I'm quite far behind, and as I know the outcome, might give the rest a miss1 -
If you are ready to revisit Covid , then this is a good listen
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001np8p?partner=uk.co.bbc&origin=share-mobile
“Fever; the hunt for Covid’s origins “ does what it says on the tin, it’s by John Sudworth who was the BBC’s China correspondent for years, but they kicked him out for asking too many questions about this - that part is quite chilling. It’s not all released yet and I am curious how he will conclude it. It’s rightly nuanced but whichever way it swings, China doesn’t look good in it.0 -
My weekly dose of podcasts is:
World Football Phone In - 9/10
The Gab and Juls Show - 7/10
5 Live Boxing - 6/10 getting worse all the time
Boxing Life Stories 9/10
Real Dictators - 9/10
Dan Carlin’s Hardcore Histories - 10/10
Desert Island Discs - 5/10 (archive is 9/10)
The Theroux lockdown interviews were fantastic as was a BBC podcast on Waco. The above take up too much time to look elsewhere but always eager for anything outstanding.0 -
Try ‘Call Jonathan Pie’.4

A big, big achievement for one of our own @JiMMy 85 got a shout from Marc White on undr the cosh. Its a genuinely brilliant podcast and very early in Marc gives Rich a mention as well as the YouTube channel
If you aren't already a subscriber of undr the cosh or bunch of amateurs you definitely should become one.2 -

Interesting one, I thought he was guilty but there was issues with the conviction, I don't think he had a fair trial.
In which direction so you think it would have swayed me?
I do highly recommend Undisclosed. kentaddick said:North Lower Neil said:For anyone who listened to Serial:

It should also be noted that a large part of setting Adnan free was because the detectives had two other suspects who were not looked into adequately.0 -

I messaged asking if they'd try to get Chris Powell, thought would be interesting with his playing career /management/Duchatalet madness and England shenanigans ("Chris who?" etc) but got no response. He's probably too South for them!0 -
Marc White is about as Southern as they come and I reckon counts for 3. Agree there are a lot of northerners on and you've hit the nail on the head, its a podcast produced by 3 northerners 2 of them footballers who had careers that went as far south as Cardiff and Norwich!
What always intrigues me is the common theme of how many managers having no idea how to handle players they don't want or have been told by a chairman not to play. Firstly that's an odd thing to have to deal with in a workplace where people are commodities or can be totally surplus to requirements, I can only put it down as similar to chefs who become head chefs and all of a sudden have groups of people to organise and motivate, business decisions to make when all they have been trained for and worked at is food creation and whatever else chefs do apart from managing people0 -
Cheers @Carter, I appreciate that. Marc’s pretty good at making sure he mentions the show in those situations. It’s funny, we both have to tell the same stories over and over yet I don’t think either of us minds doing it, we’re just appreciative that people want to hear us prattle on about it all. Marc’s stories are so funny.I hadn’t really listened to those guys much before and I thought they were really good. They asked the right questions and seemed genuinely interested in it all.2

You and your dad even as people I’ve never knowingly met are part of the original fabric of this site and I hope Marc doing his very enigmatic thing on a very popular podcast and all the other media stuff he is getting to do drives up your numbers. And fair play to you for telling that soppy ginger full back to go fuck himself

Shock and War: Iraq 20 years on
Tells the story of the second war in Iraq and how it has helped light the fire for the conflicts we've seen ever since. On iPlayer I think0 -
FWIW the podcast Charlie Methven does about footballing finance is surprisingly decent.
i honestly think a few people might change their opinion as far as he’s concerned.

My Mates' a Footballer - Joe Wilkinson and Patrick Bamford. Quite new and just random chat, but strangely addictive.1

Socially Distant Sports Bar0
-
That Peter Crouch Podcast is a very good listen, in the Jermaine Defoe Spill the beans episode, Steve Sidwell talks about car sharing with our very own Stevie Brown.0
-
Currently my main ones:
Snooker: onefourseven (Murphy) , talking snooker and a couple others loosely like WST one snooker club, dave hendon (snooker scene)
Football: The rest is football (Shearer, Linekar and Micah)
Simon Jordan up front, i don't listen to everyone but the guests i like, mostly footy players/ past and present.
Liv Boree win/win, again i pick and choose, she is a poker player but interviews people who have made a lot of money or scientists etc and just generally clever people so some are worth listening too.0 -
The rest is Entertainment, Richard Osmond and Miranda Hyde talking and giving a ton of insight into film, TV and Music3
-
Do Go On, lots of stories, fascinating facts and good comedy.
So for example, Episode 432 is the latest....... "Europe's Bizarre History of Putting Animals on Trial" lasts just over 2 hours, other episodes are much much shorter......... lots there, take your pick. Very funny.0 -
Reminding you why you love football is a brilliant podcast. They talk about old football stories, players and experience that you usually wouldn't hear. They like to steer clear of current football events unless they have to mention them as a reference point. It's by the same people that make Mundial Mag who praised our very own MOD Mag fanzine in one of the episodes last year.
Sports Horn is also worth a listen. It's a satirical take on a Sports radio station and they do a lot of work for Paddy Power with their takes on current sporting affairs.
I agree with the above comments regarding The Offensive being great too.1 -
