No trains from Waterloo East to Charlton on the day...only from Victoria & Blackfriers....will make life a little more awkward for the travelling Bournemouth fans.
And for lots of Charlton fans as well! The last time National Rail had these arrangements was the home game against Brighton, another game with a large away contingent. They do time it well...
It might be easier for the Bournemouth fans to change at Clapham Junction to go to Victoria

Agree that's what they will probably do, I have to change at Tonbridge then Lewisham...it's that or go to London Bridge and walk over to Blackfriers....certainly will be an early start.
Ah, so the email I got from the club telling me about "securing your seat for next season’s campaign" and "Fans wishing to keep their seats have until Friday, April 10th to renew their season ticket" was all bollocks then? I don't have a seat.
Still, let's not worry about potentially pissing off a few rug smuggling Bovril drinkers in the West Upper, eh - and while we're at it lets all laugh at them for paying double the money to watch the same shit in the first place. We're making a few quid, so that must mean it's ok.
And for the record I don't really have much of a problem with the general principle of giving more tickets to Bournemouth. But it sets a precedent and at the very least the club need to publicise the fact that season tickets holders in certain specified areas of the ground may need to be relocated on occasions, so at least people know.
Also, it would be nice to have actually been told about it by the club first in advance, rather than getting a text from a mate and then reading it on here when I thought he was winding me up!
The guy was very pleasant and helpful in asking me what seat I require. With the ticket I/we will be getting a £15 food voucher.
He listened and was understanding of my views but overall I am very pleased, I would not have been surprised if I had just been sent a ticket without the phone call. Well done on this.
Still waiting on an email from Meire though from two months ago!
Unfortunately I can't go to this because one of my wife's friends has decided to have a bloody wedding on that day. When will people look at the Charlton fixture list before they plan such events.
I actually think we've got a good chance of beating them. They're at home to Bolton on Sat, not sure who Boro and Watford have got. Norwich have Rotherham away. I think playing the us of 4 months ago it would've been a walk over. However I'm looking forward to us getting 3pts, I think we can upset the travelling hoards
As soon as you refuse to go to one and go to football instead. All the while you cancel your plans and attend you give them the complete wrong message.
I've sent my wife along to weddings on her one on more than one occasion - including her brothers. Once you sacrifice they have you in their pocket for ever!

Agreed with above.
Where Charlton have gone wrong is not announcing this about a month ago.

Does it really not mention possible relocations in the T&C's?

Yes - for reasons set by the Governing or Licensing bodies - which I guess means you have to move to maintain segregation requirements.

It probably does. Along with please take your seat 45 minutes before kick off, this ticket is non-transferable & please sit in your allocated seat.

I don't even think they need to have done it by that much. Just a bit of notice would've been nice - like a day or two before it was announced.
Nobody's died, but you can't blame people for feeling a bit annoyed at the very least about it. I like my seat. I could always move somewhere else and pay less (and I might now do that) but I like my seat. I like sitting with the people around me. Isn't that part of what going to football is all about? If it was just about winning, entertaining football or making money then none of us would be supporting Charlton!

Amid all the fun and banter, this hits the nail on the head for me. I'm happy with the principle of helping Bournemouth out but, as usual sadly, the handling leaves a lot to be desired. Bournemouth's likely finishing position and the attendant importance of this game his been predictable for weeks. This could all have been done and dusted before the early bird deadline. I know of one chap from another message board who has been a ST holder in one of the end blocks for years who chooses to sit there because of his family's special needs. He is royally screwed by this. I hope the club makes appropriate arrangements for him. Not holding my breath.

Could'nt you get a train to Orpington, Grove park or Lewisham and get a bus. The 51 goes from Orpington station to Woolwich.
From memory, in the PL days if we had to give extra seats for FA Cup matches, we usually gave the opposition the A (and B?) block of the East stand, I guess this sets the precedent of using the Upper West as overspill?

To be fair to them I suspect they will make those arrangements for him if he asks them to.

That is correct, but Blocks A and B of the East Stand are a season ticket sell out this season, whereas they were probably the least densely populated area in terms of season ticket holders when we were in the PL (even though none of the season ticket holders up there this season use the seat they've bought).
I honestly and truly don't understand the criticism of the club's actions.
We get a few extra quid from the Bournemouth fans - a bunch who, come on, are not exactly Millwall or Leeds in outlook, there should be an absolutely cracking atmosphere (something that early afternoon kick-offs rarely have), a near full house might actually inspire our lot to postpone their holidays for 90 mins and really go for it, and if we win we can dig out that jolly little ditty "sha la la la la la, we kept the Bournemouth down!"
And if Bournemouth win, well good luck to them. I don't get all this "they've bought their way to victory" stuff? Does anyone really think the team we had in the 1st Division a couple of years ago that romped to the title wasn't a very expensively assembled squad by 1st Division standards?
It's going to be a great afternoon. Let's hope the sun shines. Come along and enjoy.
not sure what additional costs there will be. Surely the administration wont cost more than the revenue for additional tickets sold. I think this is sensible for no other reason than we may be in a similar situation at some point and as Bournemouth for a similar favour. If you can do it, it makes sense too. We have asked them for more seats in the recent past too. I know because I couldn't get a ticket and was able to when they released extra seats. The game we won with Kermogant's late header

I assume there will be additional stewarding and police costs
Will be monumentally annoyed if they invade the pitch - especially after the effort the club went to stop us invading it 2011/12
It's not going to happen.
Firstly, those in the Upper West will have to grow wings to do so and the South Stand is designed in such a way that is practically impossible to invade the pitch from there with a solid line of stewards/police in front.
Playing Devil's advocate, how did you feel when Charlton fans invaded the pitch at Carlisle a couple of years ago? Should the Carlisle fans have been "monumentally annoyed"? Should they have given the Charlton fans who got on the pitch "a clip round the ear"?
You can't have it both ways. Pleased when our fans do it but "monumentally annoyed" if someone does it at our place.

The point with this is that the "friendly" Charlton fans bit is getting far too cringeworthy for me. I'm not advocation that we turn into Millwall or Leeds, but what's wrong with creating a bit of a hostile atmosphere?
In that game against Carlisle, it was a pitch invasion, but quite a small one. I don't have the figures, but I'm not sure there were as many as a thousand fans there.
We were then duly slapped on the wrist, and when we actually collected the trophy at the home game, there was a pitch invasion of 1.
The (I think) previous night, Reading had been promoted to the Premier League. There was a photo of the Reading pitch in most of the papers the next day, and you could not see the grass on the pitch because of the fans.
Why do other teams fans get treated so differently to other teams? Like the fact we were kept in at Millwall. And when we play Millwall at the Valley, the Charlton fans are the ones inconvenienced.
I'm sick of being everybodies whipping boys. Let's have a bit of old fashioned abuse, and stop being Mr. Nice Guy.
Let the opposition have the inconvenience for a change.

I imagine it is easier to get them in if they all enter from the same side of the ground.
