Well knock me down with a feather! two 3-0 wins on the trot, did not see that coming. Changed my mood completely an set the weekend up nicely. Well done the team an well done the 500 who made the trip.
Is GL a genius? well will have to wait a bit, maybe he's just done the 'simple' things right. Like having Henderson & Watt fit an picking them, plus dropping Bikey for Johnson. COYR !!!
"We scored three goals, unfortunately our target was to keep the ball and move the ball, but the pitch was not so good." Nice to see a 3-0 away win wasn't good enough. We will be playing like Barcelona by the end of the season.
Checked the score on the phone with blurred eyes at 5:35am. I looked like we had lost 6-1 until my focus returned at which point I woke up enough to check the stats, the scorers and the lineups and returned to my slumbers in happy mood.
I think it is all about threat - for too long this season we have been too easy to defend against. From having a team which couldn't score in a brothel which was playing Harriot as a striker, we suddenly have a front four that has goals written all over it. Above all else, this is the change. It isn't all perfect, the depth is not there, although Eagles will have helped. But being able to score goals is what you need in this division and obviously having a decent keeper helps too. Wigan had a real go at us at the start and without Henderson we may have been 1 down and looking at a different result. Small margins, but I am still annoyed with Duchatelet. I like many others saw that we were not far off, but the owner did not act and now with players back and a couple of decent signings, we are showing that we are decent.
A word for Luzon. All of the mess was never his fault. I have stated this as my view from the beginning. He was let down by the way Peeters' sacking and his appointment was communicated. I didn't want him as I felt it was time for a manager who knew the division, and the natural period of find his feet has probably cost us a few points. But he has worked out what was needed - changes that the fans have been calling for for a while, and whilst not rocket science, these are changes that I was beginning to give up on. He has come in under immense pressure and these two results will have turned things round. Before last Saturday, we had not won a game by more than one goal, now we have won two by three.
I expect us to get beat at Derby, but to put up a fight and we could win our next two homes. Finally we have a team that actually tries to beat teams for 90 minutes. Well done Guy and the lads. Maybe the players needed the boos at home to Norwich. Instead of feeling sorry for themselves, which it looked like they were doing, they have brushed themselves down and fought. Something many of us were worried they didn't have in them. Well done to them also.

There's no doubt that playing two up top and people in their right positions is a simple yet effective move and one which the fans have been calling for, but last night it sounds like our counter attack tactics were executed to perfection.
So perhaps JJ's comment about Luzon were the truth and not forced. A few people have said that he's been working tirelessly at Sparrows Lane. Good luck to the fella, when he gets it right it means we are a happier bunch.
Thought it was a very professional performance on a terrible pitch, after first 15 minutes I felt very comfortable. They look like a side already down, first goal completely drained them.
The pace we counter attack at is frightening, with Watt and Igor we could potentially have a partnership that will get us 35 goals + next season.
Last thing, well done to 500 who travelled there, thoroughy vocal supportive all throughout.
Well done to all, players and fans, great result. Look forward to reading everyone's thoughts on the game, and can enjoy a Saturday afternoon at long last!
Was there tonight and whilst the atmosphere from the Wigan end was dire after the first goal went in the Charlton fans probably could not believe how easy it all looked. Good points Henderson is a giant of a keeper and oozes confidence ; all of the back four and love dolly, tal and Johnson; Jordan and Johan solid and worked hard and watt and betokened worked their socks off and we took the chances that came and Nilotic was worth his goal . Not so good was once again buyers passing and ability to keep the ball but he did tackle well. Well worth the trip and great for Eagles on his debut. Wigan were awful but we played our part in making them look that way and we looked good defending. For once we look like likely to score when we get into the final third. This is a potentially good side who has goals in it. Roll on Derby. I thought it was a good turnout from the fans so well done all and not least luzon
Thought we contained them well fisrt 15 mins with good shape but needed Henderson to make couple of good saves.impressed with bulot work rate and doubling up with fox and great finish looks different player. Both CB looked solid although Johnson showed lack of pace when fortune broke through at start.igor looks buzzing again. Great flick to put tony watt in don't think tony expected it and just put it wide.jordan cousins emense his every where never stops running I no we lost poyet which was a big loss but if I had to pick between Jordan and Diego I would pick Jordan all day long he has so much more to his game. Great performance by the lads if any criticism I would like them to keep possession a bit better. Couldn't believe pillock at half time outside toilets saying to his mate he wants us to go down to get rid of this lot.how many years has it been when we got in players like Jbg igor and watt.who must of cost or be worth at least £4 million. Wigan shocking right from Fortune's horrific missed header through to the regular giving away of possession. We looked good going forward, I'll be generous and say pitch was shocking which was why Watt seemed to struggle to control the ball and TBH booted the ball away without so much as the hint of a look up as he knew he had to get the ball across no man's land to do any damage.
Buyens was poor and gave the ball away in dangerous areas which we got away with as we were playing a relegated side who had two real chances all game. Fortune's miss which Hendo was stranded for and the excellent save to his right in the second half from a cross shot that was headed on completely changing the ball's flight and making the save more impressive still.
Igor was quality, strong and purposeful, ball stuck when played up to him and made Wigan defence look fools with his goal. Nice to see Harry Maguire get beaten all ends up although as a loan player he really didn't seem to care too much. Bear a grudge against him for cruising around Bramall Lane in the cup game like he could have had slippers on that day.
Watt should have scored when magically set up by Igor and Solly was good throughout. Jordan was calmness itself and needed to be as midfield resembled a pinball machine with YB and any nearby Wigan loanee giving the ball to each other rapid fire.
Met Pie eater workmate on way out and said thanks, felt sorry for him as that is one awful side made worse by injuries, loanees and the bizarre belief that Waghorn is a threat to the opposition. Mackay just an objectionable tool playing to the crowd and whining about anything and everything. Lucky to have a job at all and hopefully not for much longer.
Have to say will need to be better at Derby but scouts for Maclaren and Powell will have noted Igor and I expect him to get a kicking over next couple of games.
Enjoy the Saturday off and all look forward to Olly continuing to work the scum's passage out of the division.
p.s. Shouting Eagles is not funning or ironic just crap. If he gets a hatful call him Chris. Preferably he'll sit behind Igor and What? and play in JG and FB for the crosses that accounted for goals 2 and 3 last night.

Thanks to those that went for posting, it really cheered me up, my son was in a car crash yesterday and it left me numb, would have loved to have been there last night.
Another huge win and confidence boost. What a difference a week makes! Well done to the 553 Charlton fans who made it up there last night. Nothing to fear from Derby in midweek!
Bit surprised the new signing lepoint didn't get on buyens got yellow early for taking out right winger when he beat fox and he couldn't catch him. He then had to pull out of a few tackles to avoid getting second yellow and he did not have best of games.obvious replacement lepoint. But I didn't even see him come of the bench to warm up. Does Luzon not rate him why have we signed him? Would have thought he could have come on and do a job last night to see out result when buyens is worried to tackle.
Excellent win. Another clean sheet. Plenty of goals from open play from these last couple of games which is great. Lots to be positive about. Bring on Huddersfield.

Hope he is OK MIA. Some things transcend football.
That said great result which I for one didn't anticipate.
The fact that Bulot was so decisive - took the ball from Watt, charged past 2 defenders to the line before picking out Igor.
A winger getting behind the defence and crossing from the line puts defenders wrong-footed, facing their own goalmouth - and the forward facing the goal, charging in to attack the ball.
It was great to see that Charlton have a lethal combination going forward, Watt and Vetokele really do seem committed to building a strong goal scoring partnership. I thought that TBH dealt brilliantly with so many Wigan through balls and crosses. Solly was his usual gritty and dependable self. Buyens really did look slow and uncommitted but at times opened up the Wigan midfield with some clever little passes and through balls. Wigan were very unlucky with the injuries, the twat who was singing the funeral march as a player was being stretched off in a neck brace really needs to shut his mouth sometimes. Apart from that a great atmosphere created by the Charlton faithful. I haven't heard the drummers at many northern away games this season it would be great to have them back. Looking forward to Derby

btw I'm glad Nilotic scored, he's been anonymous up til now ;-)
Even more delighted that this site could possibly be full of positive comments, and no doom and gloom.
Until next week anyway...
